It’s been my experience that you don’t have to have a huge DIY skill set or even a huge budget to make your home a prettier place to live. I don’t use power tools. You won’t catch me reupholstering a sofa. I own a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it. . . And, while I think the details in designing a room are important, I don’t think they should weigh you down.
I hope you find my blog encouraging and unintimidating. This is where I share my ideas and adventures in decorating a home that can still be livable for five young kids (and a husband who just needs a recliner to be happy). I love the thrill of the hunt, shopping for secondhand treasures and rearranging our furniture. (See more of my projects here.)
I started blogging in the Fall of 2009. Little did I know, this blog would see me through our family expanding, the start and stop of my interior design business, two moves, a feature in a national magazine in the Summer of 2012 and another in the Fall of 2014.
I am currently a contributing writer for Better Homes & Gardens online and a contributor to AOL’s Lifestyle Collective. I’ve written for the Conde Nast Traveler blog and have been featured on Style Me Pretty Living, CNN.com, Houzz, Apartment Therapy, and HGTV.com. I’m currently one of ten U.S. brand ambassadors for IKEA and have had the opportunity to team up with other great brands like Lowe’s Home Improvement, The Home Depot, Ballard Designs, Pottery Barn Kids, HomeGoods, Joss & Main and One Kings Lane.
Now that you know me better, feel free to take a tour of our last home here.
