Last week on Instagram, I posted this tiny update where I added red trim to a green lamp, and someone commented saying they always liked the combo of red and green but worried about it looking too Christmasy throughout the rest of the year. It’s actually one of my favorite color combinations to use because it just feels bright and happy to me. (Okay, kind of like Christmas is supposed to feel. . . )
I think the key to using it together in your home is to vary the shades (a bright tomato red paired with an olive green, for instance). The combination can be as bold as red walls with green pillows or as subtle as a green painted console paired with art in shades of red. Here are some tried and true examples of why green and red is a classic (year round) pair:

In our last home I intentionally decorated with a lot of red and green combinations in wall paper patterns and fabrics plus blue. After 25 years of trying to decorate for Christmas when our house was all blues and then another house in pastels of peach and beach glass green I just wanted to make it easier I myself. We lived in that red, green, blue house for seventeen years and I never tired of it.
Such a great roundup! 🙌🏻 so Inspiring!
