In the spirit of more small decorating victories, I recently accessorized the round table in our front room. It’s the first thing you see when you come through the front door and since we use this as an all-purpose room, I decided to treat it as an entry table for the time being.
I’ve grown a pretty good collection of design books and used these in four stacks around the surface. (I chose the ones I like to look at most for reference since they’re easily accessible here.)
Then, I started shopping the house for some kind of vessel to put branches in to place in the center. I started with this one but it felt too “squatty.” (I moved it to my kitchen table.)
This ginger jar was a better height, with or without branches, and the blue pulled in some of the blue from my entryway wallpaper.
Then, I just topped the books with a few objects I already had (a candle, a vintage box, a blue and white box, etc.). This is where it’s fun to change things out seasonally or as you find new treasures.
What other styling ideas would you like to see?
This is really lovely and helpful–thank you!
It looks nice! That’s a great design book collection. I love the tall windows looking out toward the street.
I would love a post on your favorite design and/or coffee table books. I spotted 2 of my favorites on your table!
Love your blog and designs. What I need is how to style a round dining table for holidays. If you ever have time would love to see this. Most designs for any holiday are done on an oblong table which just does not work for a round table and I can’t be the only one out there with a round dining room table (inherited from my mother and is the dining room table I grew up with and love)!
Great idea, thanks!
love it–looks great!
how about some teen boy spaces?? my teen boys don’t care, but the sheer number of hoodies is eye-popping. how do *you* store those? Any tips? My boys won’t hang them in a closet, of course and the behind-the-door hooks are FULLLLLLL ;)
If you figure that out, let me know! :) We’re just hanging all of the hoodies in a closet for now.
