Last week, I had a fantastic opportunity to visit the 2020 HGTV Dream Home in person, thanks to Cabinets To Go (one of this year’s sponsors). Obviously, the setting was beautiful. I had forgotten how much I liked Hilton Head. (We’ve been there a few times during Summer; it’s about a 4 1/2-hour drive from Charlotte.) The house itself was an open concept but not so overwhelming that it didn’t still feel cozy. Lots of windows and doors opening onto amazing porches and patios to enjoy the view. I snapped lots of pictures of things that caught my eye, and I’m sharing more video on my Instagram stories.
- The backyard is truly a haven. It’s private, spacious and there are multiple areas for sitting, sleeping, reading, swimming. . . Also, I would only ever have a pool so that I could float big white orbs in it.
- Painted ceilings everywhere. Bryan Patrick Flynn, this year’s designer, carried color to the ceilings in almost every room. (And they don’t always have to be high contrast from the walls.)
- The concept of a large multifunctional laundry room. Why did builders ever start putting washers and dryers in small closets? A lot of us spend a good portion of our weeks in the laundry room and I love the idea of enough room to add a table, spacious counter top, and a pet crate (that looks like a custom built-in but wasn’t). Video tour posted to my IG stories.

THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE LOVE HILTON HEAD TOO AND HOPE I WIN THIS YEAR! I LIVE NOT TOO FAR AWAY IN SE NORTH CAROLINA COASTAL AREA OF WILMINGTON AND WOULD welcome A HILTON HEAD GET AWAY IN OUR FAMILY . . . WOULDN’T THAT BE THE BEST EVER! YOUR PHOTOS ARE SO GREAT! THANKS AGAIN !!! SALLY
Very nice except for one major thi ng. Living right on a marsh means lots of bugs…mosquitos, snakes, and an occassionally an alligator. Nice home but poor location.
I Love the HGTV dream home 2020. However, how could I even afford to win? What a shame it must be to win, and not be able to afford the taxes that go with it??
Any idea on the artwork – Graphic landscapEs? Just Gorgeous!
No one would love this house more than our family. I daydream everyday about winning this home and raising my teenage sons there. I would transfer my job there and start volunteering with the turtle crews. I pray when they draw the winning, it’s my name they read. It would change us forever

Interesting. I didnt really like any of the interior. It looks like it will be easily dated in five years. However, the backyard is classically beautiful!
So beautiful! EMily…great pictures of the houSe. The picture of you is beautiful As well.

Really like the house, but truly a maintenance nightmare. And having a detached garage in that are is ludicrous. Immediate modification needed. (At least I CAN’T see any connection in the pics.)
Absolutely my favorite.
How lucky to preview this home.
Also.., I need that dress! My husband is a zoo director and that dress is perfect for attending a zoo fundraiser!
Such a be home. The colors and decor invite you in a play off the outdoors! A conforta home for any family.
❤️
Beautiful and I hope I win it. Charlotte Jordan.
When every part winner has had to sell because the taxes on this prize are so high, why do they keep making the houses so extravagant? The cash prize doesn’t begin to cover the taxes.
AMAZING! Our dream is to very soon retire in south Carolina and my husband and I both have been entering the HGTV dream homes for years and are so hopeful that this is our year to win this beautiful home in Hilton head!
HGTV Seems stuck in the barn wood rustic mode that nit everyone wants. I grew up on a farm. I dont want a BARn looking home. The black pool at the dreamhome is mistake with snakes and gators in the area. Who wanta to jump in a black hole not kniwing what is in it?
I always wanted a beautiful home of to call my own. This home is so beautiful and it will get my a flesh start in life I hope I will win.
Hi ,
I loved looking through your photos of the house. There were some great design elements but I also found the house overly fussy . Most areas were over decorated with not enough room to breathe
Love this post! Do you remember what blend material was used on Roman shades? I’d love a post on Roman shades!
Thank you for sharing! This home is stunning and uplifting! I see lots of positive energy being generated here and joyous times for many. Well thought out and a beautiful area.
Absolutely beautiful!!!! I would love love ❤️ to win this Dream Home!!!! I would not change anything, it’s perfect!!!
Just wondering I have never seen anyone that doesn’t already have a home or a family to participate in the celebration win a Dream Home. I am single and have never owned I home but I keep trying should I give up.
