I’m attempting a new series called “Fast Favorites” where I’ll share (approximately) five quick links to products or ideas centered around a specific theme. I’m kicking it off with a handful of good bedside lamps.
See sources for my bedroom here.
I notice that a lot of people tend to err on the side of too small and too skinny lamps for their bedside tables so that they almost get lost in the mix. Beds themselves are big elements of a room, and lamps that have some bulk help to add the needed weight and balance. As a general rule, I like to stick to bedside lamps that are at least 26″ tall, but preferably 28-30″ and have a fuller base.
Have a specific category you’d like me to cover in an upcoming Fast Favorites post? Leave your idea in the comments.
Great idea for “Fast Favorites”. So often, I’m looking to change something in my house without spending a fortune and a big chunk of time!
I’d love accent chairs – but that post might not qualify as fast because there are so many options!
I’ve never figured out why my lamps seemed “wrong” next to my extra tall four-poster bed, but you just helped me figure it out!
Great lamps! I too try to buy bigger. They seem to make more of a statement. I’d love to see kid friendly (ie stain resistant and not scratchy), reasonably priced area rugs. I get hung up on material because I don’t know how it’s going to feel and wear.
Art :). Specifically for above the sofa!
I agree! I always want my art to be personal, timeless/ classic, yet fun and not stuffy. haha aka I have NO idea what I want :).
Emily, I’d love a post on art, especially above sofas! THANKS!
Fast Five Favorites: coffee tables, console tables, poufs, baskets for living room/great room, throws, outdoor front entry decor items (not planters), wall art, nighstand decor, dining room table centerpiece, kitchen counter decor.
This is a great list. Thank you!!
Love this! Thank you!
Tips on choosing correct shades for lamps. I thrift lamps but the shades are always an issue.
Ps: That BROWN STRIPE lamp has my name all over it 😍
Outdoor rugs!!
Yes! That’s already on my list.
I love the idea of this series! I would like to see some reasonably priced options for flushmounts to replace “boob” lights. Thank you!
Agree with flush mounts! Love your posts
wow. diverse and affordable.
What a fun series! I would love to see coordinating curtains, throw pillows, and rugs that aren’t too matchy-matchy.
Would love to see one on bigger art/decor for over the fireplace!
Great new series!!! I could use some help finding nice looking and practical dinnerware that won’t break the bank …
Love this idea! How about bedskirts? I’m having trouble finding nice ones that really add a quality look to the bed. Thanks!
Hi Emily,
How about bedroom/living room drapes? I am struggling with mine!
Also, coffee table ideas.
Thank you!
Melissa
Thank you for the link to that pair of lamps you have in your bedroom on Wayfair Day! We have a poster bed similar to yours and needed to replace our broken lamps. Finding a pair big enough, yet affordable and stylish had been a challenge. The white ones look GREAT in our room!
Loved this post! I just ordered 2 lamps for my bedroom! I loved #3
Thank you for making this process so easy. I loved the options and it saved me so much time. I love your style and how you give several options that appeal to varying tastes.
Can’t wait for the next Fast Favorites!
Choosing the right lampshade shape and size!!! Love a big statement size but sometimes I am not a fan of the shade its paired with and I can’t put my finger on why!
Love these choices! Would love five pics for porch planters.
I’d love to see a fast favorites on bamboo shades (like yours) that have privacy options and that are tough enough to stand up to daily use (raising and lowering) as well as some affordable options for animal print upholstery. Thanks so much!
The lamps look so lovely and charming. Thanks for the share.
I have always haD big lamps on my bedside but nOw i want to switch to a wall light with a swing arm to free up space On my bedside table. We have a 4 poster bed. Do we put it above the headboard or on the other side of the post?
