It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these posts, so I’m taking this Friday to diverge from design and talk about some of my beauty favorites–or the things I put on my face when I try to look presentable. I always love hearing about what other people have tried and like–especially when it’s a deal–so let me know if you have anything great in your makeup bag these days. This is what’s going on in mine. . .
Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer SPF 35 I haven’t started investing in the pricey creams–yet. I’ve been using this for a while and am just hoping some good genes got passed down. It’s light and doesn’t feel greasy. I also don’t notice any scent.
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream I’ve been wearing this foundation for a couple of years now and still love it just as much. I get really good coverage without it feeling cakey and it has a 50+ SPF. It’s easy to blend; I’ve put it on with both a brush and a sponge but I mostly just use my fingers. (If you don’t want to commit to an entire tube, it also comes in this mini version.)
NYX Shine Killer It makes no difference that I’m 41. I’m still as oily as a 16-year-old. I usually put this on before my foundation (although after is okay, too) so that it works as a primer.
NYX Wonder Stick I’m no Kardashian, but I love this little contouring stick. It’s a highlighter on one end and contour on the other. It lasts forever and makes drawing those fun little lines on your face quick and easy. I just use a sponge to blend it all. (By the way, am I the only one who becomes mesmerized by contouring videos on YouTube?? Seriously, I could watch them for hours. . . )
IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Pores Blush This is the blush I’m using now and while I really like the way it goes on (and it’s gotten some good reviews), I don’t feel like it stays put as long as it should. When I’m out of this, I’m returning to my all-time favorite blush (with all the hideous names) by NARS.
NYX Precision Brow Pencil This is my favorite eyebrow pencil by far–and I’ve tried a lot of them. I love the angled tip and the “ash brown” is the closest match I’ve found for myself. I stock up on these when they go on sale.
NYX Warm Neutrals Ultimate Shadow Palette I’ve always been a neutrals girl when it comes to my eyes. This is a good price for lots of options.
Brilliant Beauty Eyelash Curler I quickly ordered this $10 one on Amazon after my other one broke and it’s great! It doesn’t feel too light in my hands.
Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner Best eyeliner pencil I’ve ever used! I’ve been stuck on this one for a couple of years now. It glides on and doesn’t bleed onto my lids. I go back and forth between the black and brown.
NYX Retractable Lip Pencil Sometimes I use one and sometimes I don’t. I usually just opt for something inexpensive and neutral like this one in natural by NYX.
Buxom Shimmer Shock Lipstick I love Buxom lip products and this lipstick is so good that I have it in three colors. (Fireball is my favorite red.) I never feel like my lips are dried out when I wear this and it has just a little bit of shimmer.
Buxom Full-On Lip Cream I just started wearing this and really like it for every day. It’s tingly and not too glossy. “Dolly” is a great neutral that I usually put on as I’m backing out our driveway. ;)
PS–I just realized I didn’t include a mascara. This inexpensive option is the brand I always go back to any time I’ve tried something else.
