It’s been a little tricky to put this particular gift guide together. It seems there is always a little pair of eyes peering over my shoulder to see what I’m doing on my laptop. But I hid and pressed on, in case any of Santa’s helpers could use a little help this Christmas. I’ve broken down these fun things into age groups and included some things my kids have and love and a few things that are on their list this year. . .
A few things to note. . .
Ages 3 to 7: Our twins got the VTech watches last year and still play with them all the time. They call them their “smart watches” and have been especially great for long trips in the car. My sister’s boys (ages 3 to 8) are way into Beyblades right now so I think Santa may bring a set here. And, the jeeps are at the top of their lists. We may need to clean out our garage before Christmas Eve. . .
Ages 8 to 10: These ride-on toys have gotten great reviews for all ages and might be a nice alternative to a bike. My 8-year-old has the Unicef band and and loves the idea of having a goal while helping other kids. And, I’m not sure I’m totally on board with the Hatchimal craze but she has it on her list. (What do you think? Worth the money??)
Ages 11+: We have now reached the stage where I have two that are asking for tiny, expensive things this year. Truthfully, I think they’d both be happy with cash but what fun is that for Santa?! We have Wits & Wagers and it’s their favorite game. The Bose speaker is also great and the mini trampoline was a hit with my gymnast. I’ve heard great things about Spike Ball and my preteen put Birkenstocks at the top of her list. Apparently, it’s now trendy to wear them with fuzzy socks. . . #yikes
What’s on your kids’ lists this year?
My 16 year old wears birks to school in Chicago suburbs with socks like these: https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/yaktrax-womens-cozy-cabin-nordic-crew-socks-16ykxwwmnsczynrtcapa/16ykxwwmnsczynrtcapa
Socks are BOGO @ that link right now. Adding some to my cart!
Thanks for the idea!
Thank you Emily. These were great. We picked a couple items for our grandchildren. When you no longer have kids at home, this definitely helps.
I have been wearing Birkenstock’s with socks for over 20 years! I thought it was always fun and functional.
Well, I’ve never owned a pair so what do I know?! Ha!
Love your personal style Emily! :)
If you happen to get the sandals for your daughter, I will be anxious to see what fabulous sock options you find.
My four year old daughter got a Hatchanimal for her birthday from a grandparent. I had no idea what it was but we are all now enamored! I don’t think I would have bought it for my kids but we have had lots of fun with it! She also wants that same pink microphone you listed! Great gift tips for the older kids (which helps me out with nieces and nephews!). Lucily, my kids are 6 and under so they don’t care too much what they get-yet!
Okay, this makes me feel better about it. I thought they just popped out of the egg and that was it…. :)
My 8 year old daughter also got a hatchimal last year. She enjoyed it for Christmas, and played with it throughout the year a bit. It was fun watching it hatch on Christmas Day.
They do seem a little silly price wise. But, my daughter enjoyed it at her age.
Tough call, though, because not sure if it has gotten hours of use.
Thanks for this list and your others lists too. I have enjoyed reading your ideas, and suggestions.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving!
Those EzyRollers are so fun. Our old neighbor had two and all the kids in the neighborhood would take turns riding them for hours.
Good to know ;)
This is the first gift guide where i am like yep yep and yep! THANK YOU!!! beyblades are big in my house and I have never seen that set! Totally getting it for my 4 year old! I will come back here and buy it through your link
the Ezyroller thing is awesome and I need to get a few more because everyone wants to ride it when they come over. I think there is a pedal version too. My husband is anti because our garage cannot fit a car at the moment and its a two and a half car garage. Its pathetic but I would rather them outside pulling out all the ride one stuff/bikes then inside destroying my house and have a neat garage! amiright?!?
Happy Thanksgiving!! Hope you have a great holiday season. Are we going to get to see your house decked out for the holidays? no pressure. I would much rather you enjoy the holidays then “stage the holidays” for our benefit.
Thanks for these ideas–we have five grandsons and one granddaughter in our son’s family and a new baby grandson in our daughter’s family so we’re always looking for current gift favorites! Love your choices.
That sounds like a fun Christmas! :)
