I have some fun news to share with you and an upcoming Spring makeover. I’m participating in this year’s FrogTape Paintover Challenge, along with five other bloggers, to redo a space. We were each assigned a different theme based on one of this year’s design trends as named by designer and tv host Taniya Nayak. And, here’s the really good part: after each project is completed and revealed on our blogs, voting will begin for your favorite makeover/paintover. Once the results are in, FrogTape will donate $5000 to a charity of the winner’s choice. So, there’s really no way to lose here, right?!
I am happy to be “competing” for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. They not only do great work in medical research and prevention, but treat sick kids without ever sending a bill to the families, thanks to generous donations. You can learn more about their amazing work here.
My project will be designed around the theme of “nature’s influence.” It’s all about textures, a natural color palette, fresh flowers, etc. Our sadly neglected and mismatched screened porch seemed like the perfect candidate for this theme—and for a makeover just in time for warm weather.
What a waste of a great space! :(
I decided to take my cues from the beautiful greens of Spring I see blooming all around me and the gorgeous blue skies that go so well together. The biggest change will be painting over our murky floor with a fresh coat of green paint. I’ll post an update and paint colors next week, but here’s the overall idea:
outdoor chair // mirror (similar) // paint // lantern // blue and white jars
pillow // rug // wicker chair // white table
driftwood // fabric // succulents
boxwood in blue and white planter // my kids :)
Stay tuned for another update next week. In the meantime, check out the five other bloggers tackling their own “paintover” challenges:

Oh the timing! I am in the middle of a porch makeover too!!! Can’t wait to see all your gorgeousness.
And yours! Send me pics :)
As excited as I am about your porch, I would loooooove to see your gorgeous kitchen!
Question about the Docksta table – I was considering getting one for my screened-in porch but was wary of the durability of the top being wooden and it being outside. Even though it won’t be in direct weather or sun, I was afraid it would warp over time. Have you had experience with using it outdoors without trouble?
Thanks!
Oh, fun I can’t wait to see your porch, which is surprisingly a lot like the porch I just did at my house! So don’t think I copied you when I finally get to reveal it in June. I’m doing a fun thing with some other bloggers and sponsors too and we can’t share til then. I’ve got navy cushions and gray/brown wicker out there and a blue and white striped rug and Kelly green is my accent too! What a great look you are going to have!! Just wanted to tell you about mine and let you know it’s done since we are doing such similar looks!! And I can’t wait to see what you’ll do with the Frog Tape. My floor has the diamond pattern in gray and white which still fits in with my color scheme too.
How exciting! I love your inspiration and plans, it’s going to be fun to follow along on your progress. I’m hoping we get some warmer weather here in Illinois so I can start doing some work on our outdoor space soon too!
Oooh, the porch paint will be beautiful! We have a (hot) deck and I miss a screened porch so much! Our deck is the only spot in the back yard that gets any sun and it’s the one place I wish was shady :( Can’t wait to see the results!
You’re so smart. I love that you are carrying the green from your kitchen onto your porch.
And thank you for picking St Jude’s as your charity. They are my favorite also.
Run fast from that light fixture! You have to twist your hand into contorted shapes to change the light bulbs. Which can break off. I just changed from those to wonderful crooked barn lights. No glass to clean and easiest light bulb change ever!! Otherwise I love all your ideas. ❤️
Really? We already have two installed and I haven’t had any problems…
That’s going to look great! My parents painted their concrete porch a similar green color years ago and it looks so pretty!
St. Jude’s is a favorite of mine as well. I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with your porch!
As a Memphis native, we are very proud of St. Jude Hospital. Thank you for picking it as your charity. They do such wonderful work. You will definitely get my vote.
