Our Outdoor Furniture (Five Years Later)

May 17, 2017 4 Comments

After posting about our porch makeover yesterday, I noticed that our outdoor furniture is on sale and thought I’d give my official review here after owning it for five years.

We bought the sofa and two club chairs for “my husband’s 40th” five years ago, and I’ve been really pleased with how well they’ve held up. (My husband and the chairs.) It stayed on our uncovered patio for three years at the last house and has been on our screened porch here for the last two years. I’m happy to report that the body of the furniture still looks exactly the same. (And, it’s easy to hose off.) I’m never a huge fan of patio “sets” so we bought the main seating to match and I added in other side tables, stools, etc.

I did end up replacing the original tan cushions when we moved. After three years in the elements, they were moldy and flat as a pancake. As I mentioned yesterday, I tried to save money by ordering another brand that wasn’t made for our furniture and they never did fit right, always bunching and slipping. . . This year, I ordered the cushions that fit in the Sunbrella fabric and not only does the fabric look and feel better, but the cushion itself is thicker. I think these will hold up much longer—especially on our covered porch.

Right now, all outdoor, including our furniture, is on sale at Target (online only) for up to 30% off, with an extra 10% if you use promo code: PATIO

Funny was just looking at these chairs last night. Was wondering, I like the back of the chair to support my head. Is the back high enough to lean your head up against?

If you have an ottoman or footstool and slouch a little, yes :) I usually end up reading in one of the chairs and putting my feet up on the garden stool. It must work fine because yesterday I fell asleep sitting up ;)

My husband is a pretty tall guy thus heavier…These say 250# weight load. Any thoughts on the accuracy of that? we’ve been looking for a while but his size excludes most cost effective sets.

I’m not sure but several of us do sometimes pile on one chair if that helps :) I would say they have to put some of those disclaimers on there but maybe you could contact Target to see…
