Our Colonial Christmas Front Door

November 28, 2016

Welcome to Christmas! I guess it’s full steam ahead from here on out. This year, I started the holiday decorating with our front door, thanks to my friends at Colonial Williamsburg.

WILLIAMSBURG brand colonial wreath

The WILLIAMSBURG Brand creates products inspired by pieces and the history of colonial America. A great fit for our house but classic enough for any style. (If you want to see more Williamsburg inspiration, I posted pictures from my trip a couple of years ago here.) I chose the colonial magnolia collection, a blend of boxwood, magnolia, berries, pomegranates, artichokes and faux fruit that stays beautiful even as it dries over the weeks. We’re not doing a real tree this year, but having boxes of fresh greenery delivered to your door is a really good trade off.

For Winter, I changed out the topiaries in the planters for some small Japanese holly trees. I added a few dollar store apples to tie in the color from the garlands.

And, nothing says “welcome” like a pineapple doormat—also available from the WILLIAMSBURG collection.

You can find the pineapple doormat here and the wreath and garland here.

Now onto the inside! If I don’t pull the tree down from the attic this week, the twins are going to do it themselves. . .

Thanks to WILLIAMSBURG Brand (@wmbgbrand) for sponsoring this post.

Beautiful! We just moved from Williamsburg to the Low Country coastal area outside of Beaufort five months ago to be closer to our kids and grands. Seeing those pretty and classic greens makes me smile and remember Virginia. Good job–love the red apples idea, too!

That has to be the most gorgeous wreath I’ve ever seen! And I love the apples in your planters–are those boxwoods? I think I need to do that, too :)

Thanks, Michele. They’re little Japanese holly trees from Lowe’s.

Love the holly trees. Where did you get the planters and big pine cones?

The planters were from Lowes or HD several years ago. (I can’t remember.) I found the pine cones on a Pottery Barn clearance table :)

It looks beautiful…but the big question is where did you get those rockin’ leopard shoes????

    Love them!

Love your style and the natural decorations you did. I’ve enjoyed your blog for a long time. Can I ask where you bought your loafers (second picture) from? Super cute!
