I have a habit of rushing headfirst into things when I get excited about an idea. That can be a good or bad thing, I suppose. I started my “give & take” series a year or so ago as a way to help my blog readers with their pressing design dilemmas. I asked and you answered, with way more than I could tackle! (So, thanks—and I’m sorry.) It’s still one of my favorite posts to do, so I’m re-launching it—on a slightly smaller scale.
See this give & take post here.
WHAT I’M LOOKNG FOR. . .
I’m hoping to address more “one-wall problems.” For example, “what should hang above my bed?”, “why does the wall behind my sofa not look finished?”, “how can I add color to my entryway/kitchen/living room/etc.?”. I’m looking for problems that stump a lot of people, and by offering solutions that are a little more “doable”, I’m hoping to get more follow up photos. We want to see what you do (or don’t do!) with my suggestions. . .
WHAT I’M NOT LOOKING FOR. . . .
Entire room redesigns. I’m hoping to be able to do more of these posts by scaling back on the scope of the questions. And, please, no photos of empty rooms asking “what should I do?” Yes, I do get some of those. ;)
HOW TO SUBMIT A QUESTION:
To be considered for an upcoming post, please send 1-2 photos and a brief description of why you’re stumped. Email info {at} emilyaclark {dot} com with the subject line SUBMISSION: GIVE & TAKE. You’ll be contacted via email if your design question is chosen.
Looking forward to getting back to this series!
PS—I shared this in my newsletter earlier in the week. Subscribe here to receive it in your inbox.

Emily, I have been a subscriber for quite a while but have never received a newsletter. I do get your emailed posts regularly in my inbox. Could you look into this for me?
Yes–will you email me so I make sure I have the right address? (You should also get a confirmation email after you subscribe; could it have gone to your spam folder?)
Yay! So glad you are bringing this back. So fun (and helpful) to see your ideas/comments.
This is a surprise! And I have one for you. Mine has been completed.!!
I’ll get the pictures to you by Monday.
Can’t wait to see!
Yay, I love this series! I sent you a submission! Should have picked up the toys… *cringe emoji* haha
No cringing necessary–especially if you could see my house right now ;)
Could it get something other than a wall in a room? For example what type of headboard/bed fwiukd you suggest? Or what type of chairs to finish a dining room?
Sure–just not a whole room redesign situation :)
Ah! This is great! I just moved to a new house and there are several places I’ve thought, hmmmm…what about HERE?
I definitely have a submission!
Great project! I can’t wait to see the new submissions and your ideas.
