My Favorite Source For Lady portraits

August 10, 2016

It seems like portraits have become really trendy over the last few years. It makes no difference if you know the person or not, vintage portraits have especially become treasures to find at flea markets or thrift stores. It’s also upped their price tags big time, in most cases. Want to add a lady (or two) to your walls? I thought I’d share my favorite source for portraits. They’re not vintage but give you a similar feel without the huge price tag.

Janet Hill Studio portraits

Janet Hill Studio is one of my favorite artists and Etsy shops. You may be more familiar with her colorful paintings of retro girls in fun settings, but I just can’t get enough of her beautiful portraits. And, the price is right. Most of the art prints in her shop range from $25 to $45.

“Elspeth” and her turtledove (pictured above) have been with me for several years now. Every time she appears in my Instagram feed, someone comments that she looks like me. :) Trust me when I tell you that would not be my expression if I had a bird on my shoulder. . .

I had to add the pipe smoking guy. Wouldn’t he be fun in an office or study?

Quick tip:

For a more authentic vintage look, skip the mat and pop one of these into an ornate gold frame.

My thrift store has a mirror like yours for $125. It’s white. Is that too much to pay? I felt like it was and I guess everybody else does too. It’s been there a while. What do you think? Love the bathroom!!

That’s probably not a terrible price, considering what they’re asking on Etsy. You will not like me when I tell you I found one for $25 and my dad found the other one for $5!!!

I love portraits but my family and friends make fun of the ones I have. I have one where his hands are missing. I bought it from my friends store and he named it hands are hard. He’s for sure a conversation starter!! Also your dad seems like the total best!!! (:

Do you have a go-to source or sources for gold frames? As you said they look great with most portraits and would love to hear where you find yours!

I have bought those cheap plastic black frames from craft stores several times. They are so easy to spray gold!
