It’s my first Fall decorating post of the year, but I promise I’m not suggesting you actually start doing it today. I always have a hard time giving up Summer. But, this is a great time to start thinking about and gathering for the months ahead.
Today, I’m teaming up with several other bloggers to share some of our favorite Fall decorating ideas. (Thanks to those of you who are visiting from Eclectically Vintage. Keep reading for a list of all the participating blogs.)
Last year, we had just moved into our house, and unpacking boxes took precedent over Fall decorating. So, I’m looking forward to adding a few small touches in the coming weeks, adding some Fall-ish objects around the house. Layers, lots of warm textures, branches from the yard and good smells make everything feel more like Fall for me.

I’m coming over with two pumpkin spice lattes right now!
Come on over! I’d love it :)
Love the post! However, I have a question. How do you differentiate between “layers” and “clutter”? All your examples in this post definitely fall (get it? Haha) into the layers category but my mom struggles with clutter. She claims her clutter is layering but I say it’s just plain ol’ clutter. To each his own?
Ha! I love this question. I think it’s definitely a “to each his own” thing. For me, I start to see clutter when there’s a lot of little things layered together. I try to be intentional about choosing a few pieces to put together. My kids, however, like to mix their own “stuff” in and that’s a whole other story :)
I feel you- last year wast the first time in two years I could decorate for seasons/holidays with moves. I can’t wait to see what you do this year! Love all those natural elements you incorporate, Emily!
Emily I was in the middle of a reno last year so I feel the same way — I am so looking forward to being able to focus more on it this year! Love your home as always!
Emily,
who makes that leopard print fabric? I’ve been looking for one and that’s exactly what I need!
Thanks!
It’s been a while, but I believe it’s by P Kaufmann.
I try to do my Fall decorating with nuetral items & things from nature. No orange pumpkins for me.
Back in the day I used to go all out with Fall decorating. It looked like Fall threw up in my home. But I’ve since learned less is more. Now it’s much more tasteful.
These little glimpses of your home are a tease. I want to see more!!!
I love the antlers! Do you mind sharing where you got them? Thank you for a wonderful blog!
Believe it or not, my dad and the twins found them in our neighborhood!
It’s all so pretty Emily!
Emily,
It’s never too early to start thinking about the upcoming season. I was at an outlet mall a couple weeks ago and while it was 98 degrees, I bought 15 fall candles and soaps. Thanks for this inspirational post. It makes me excited to first, organize my attic when it is cooler and secondly, pull out my fall decorations.
X0,
Jenn
You are on the ball! :)
Emily every detail drew me in, beautiful job and wonderful inspiration!
I would love to know exactly how you did the magnolia leaf wreath? I love it.
It’s the one from Etsy I blogged about here:

I think antlers are perfect for Autumn, I love them on everything, antler prints on cushions, curtains, and that antler wall mount is excellent.
