The Perfect Beach Bungalow

July 14, 2016

I dream of redecorating every place we’ve ever stayed at the beach. By the time we leave at the end of the week, I’ve given every room a mental makeover. (I know some of you do that, too.)  I love a good beach house where there’s just enough of a nod to nautical without going “overboard.” This sweet bungalow by Chango & Co. is just about perfect. Here are some of the highlights:

I also redecorate our beach vacation rentals in my head every time! I agree. This one is pretty perfect!

I should show this post to one of my friends. She inherited a 50’s ranch house near a beach in Delaware. (Lucky girl). But she doesn’t have a clue as to how to fix it up. She’s currently renting it out & doesn’t want to put much money into it…”because it’s a rental.” She mostly painted everything. Which is fine but army green for the kitchen cabinets (it was on sale as an oops paint) & dark brown for all the woodwork. Black appliances in the kitchen because the faux granite laminate counters had black specks in them. It’s the darkest, saddest looking beach house I’ve ever seen.
I get so upset thinking how cute the place could be. Such a shame.

Love this! I can hear the beach waves crashing outside the window.

Glad to hear that there are others who redecorate beach houses mentally!! I’m guilty of doing the same thing to some of my friend’s houses, too.

Emily, I was the SO excited person last year who couldn’t believe your grandmother knew, much less was related to Emily Clark! And I even got a photo op with you and met your sweet family later:) I just posted about a fab “could-be” nautical table at a junk shop I just visited. It would look great in a home like this! (at http://www.thislldocottage@wordpress.com ).

Years ago we went to Kauai (it was as awesome as you could imagine.) I picked our vacation rental (from vbro pics) based on how it was decorated vs the proximity to the beach. I figured if I was going to be someplace for 10 days (especially a place where I was still going to fix meals and hangout with a napping child) I wanted it to be lovely!

I love that dark blue color in the entry way. It’s so beautiful, and I find it really adds to the beach vibe. Thanks for sharing to the tips!
