If You’re Going To Buy One Thing For Your Walls. . .

July 7, 2016

There are an overwhelming number of options for your walls. (I bet that’s why some of you haven’t hung anything yet.) But, if I had to choose just one piece for the long run, the round mirror is a classic that works with any style and in just about any spot.

You never have to worry about round mirrors going in or out of style. And, they work like a charm in opening up a space and softening the hard edges of a mantel or a dresser. A round mirror can also work over a headboard or in the middle of a gallery wall. . .

My advice when mirror shopping is to make sure you go big enough. If you’re using it over a mantel or a piece of furniture, I’d look for something no smaller than 33-36” in diameter. (But, even bigger can make a beautiful statement!) Here are some styles I like from different online sources:

Emily, love all these pictures. Can you please provide the link to the picture from Architectural Digest? The one on here is directed to a Domino article. Thanks.

Thank you for sourcing these beautiful mirrors. I’m actually looking for 34″ gold/antique brass mirror to hang over the vanity in my guest bath. I always find affordable mirrors at HomeGoods. I just need to get myself there. But summer has been busy!

Thanks for this post! I have been really loving the round mirror look lately and you just convinced me to pull the trigger.

Side note: do you have the correct link for the last photo, from Architectural Digest? It currently goes to a Domino page, but I’d love to see more pics of that house! :)

They are lovely! I agree… the round shape helps balance many of the hard edges we find on tables, dressers, and other furniture pieces.

I have been wondering about different decorations for my living room. I didn’t think about getting a mirror as a decoration. It is true that round mirrors have always been around and won’t really go out of style. It would be a really cute decoration. Thank you for the ideas!

Thanks for giving some of the measurements for what would be big enough for the wall. We want to get something that will hang over the fireplace and we don’t want to get anything too small. I’ll have to remember your dimension tips in the future.
