I just painted my front door Regatta by Sherwin Williams which is sort of in between Royal and Navy, everytime someone new comes over they mention how much they love the color.

    Hi Emily!
My house is a very pale yellow. Right now, I have black shutters, a white garage door and an olive green door. I would like to change things up by changing the shutter color, painting the garage door to match the shutters and pick a different color for the door. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks!

I’m not a decorator, so I wander neighborhoods looking for houses that I like. We plan on painting our brick soon. We like gray and dark blue so far… Also your Pinterest boards will give you a good idea of the colors you like. Mine are filled with turquoise and lime green, so I’m painting my living room turquoise!

i recently did a front of our house renovation. we have Pennsylvania field stone on the front of our house with a dark purplish hue to it so we painted the front door a deep purple tone that was based on the Sherwin Williams Black Swan (black added to it). at first it appeared almost too purple but six months in and it is pure delight!

My front door became a beautiful navy blue last fall but it took me the entire day with sanding and two coats of paint. Then the paint around the edges stuck to the weather stripping and pulled off overnight. More sanding and painting. I still cannot solve the weather stripping problem and have many edge places without paint. I need to solve this problem before we put our house on the market in a few months. Any thoughts?

    Emily,
Oh how I wish our hoa was a little creative when approving color changes. I just had our house repainted from an pinky beige (inherited) to Dorian Gray. Wanted to do a fun color and no such luck.
Maybe I should join the architectural committee? I’m tired of all the Brown painted houses.
Can’t wait to see your kitchen!! That Emily Clark green, I love.

Totally get it. We used to live in a neighborhood that would fine you for having a creative thought :( Maybe you could still work in some fun color by painting some planters?

I painted my previous home’s front door hot pink. It was in a housing development where everything looked the same. But our house was so cheery. Neighbors loved it.
