The Column Lamp (My New Favorite)

May 10, 2016

gourd_lamp

I’ve been pretty faithful to the gourd-shaped lamp for a while now. Single gourd, double gourd, triple gourd, I pretty much like them all. But, lately, a new lamp shape has caught my attention. I’m set on this pair that I included in the design board for our master bedroom. (They’re currently out of stock until Fall, but I plan on waiting.)

Lola Column Lamp

The height of most column lamps works great for a bedside table, and they still give you enough “bulk” without looking like a buffet lamp. Here are some other column lamps that caught my eye while I was searching:

Yes, I would wait as well! I’m loving the marble base from West Elm. It’s a great price, but I have very traditional decor. Do you think it would look out of place? The description says it’s mid century modern. Just curious! Love the selection. Thanks for sharing!

I think the marble is actually pretty traditional. West Elm’s overall aesthetic is pretty MCM, so maybe that’s why they named them that??

oh my gosh I almost fell out of my chair when I saw your blog post! Here’s what I posted today!! http://lorridynerdesign.com/little-things-new-lamp-new-look/

Love the column lamps you chose. So pretty – and I love that the column is a fun, “different” take on the traditional lamp.

So crazy! We have one brain :) I have looked at those same exact lamps and keep going back to the others just for that couple of extra inches on the height. So tempting, though…

Hi Emily! Love lamp six! Also, I have that same little guy that’s sitting in front of your lamp. A peacock, I think? I found mine at a thrift store for next to nothing and I LURV him!

Hi Emily! Don’t let the back order date scare you off! I ordered these lamps just after Christmas, thinking they wouldn’t come in until late May. Lo and behold, they showed up in January! Might be worth it to go ahead and order them… ;)

They won’t even let you put them in your cart :( I’m on the email list to be notified, though…

Aww, bummer! I will say, I have enjoyed ours very much. If you decide to wait for them, I don’t think you’ll be disappointed! Cheers!

    Emily,

The black lamp from Target was just what I was looking for and I ordered it! Thank you for sharing all of those great selections! What color shade would you pair with this lamp? The room it’s going in in my house has mainly black, cream and white as the color palette. I’ve been holding on to a BH&G black and cream shade that I really liked until I found the right lamp, but not sure if it’s the best choice for it? Thanks for any suggestions you might have! I love what you chose!

Hi Gail, I love that lamp! I think a simple cream shade would look great.
