Peel & Stick “Grasscloth” Wallpaper (My Wayfair Video)

May 16, 2016

Our powder room is a  tiny little space under the stairs, which gives it a crazy ceiling angle, and I’ve always pictured it enveloped in some kind of wallpaper. And, I’ve always loved look of grasscloth but have yet to use it. So, when Wayfair asked me to come up a video project using one of their peel and stick wallpapers, I knew exactly which one and where it was going.

This “faux grasscloth” looks so much like the real thing. But, the beauty of a peel and stick paper is that this is a one-woman, no-wallpaper-hanging-tools-required kind of project. And, no stripping/steaming it off later. Huge bonus!

This is the wallpaper I used—but in the sandstone color. Currently, it’s only listed on Wayfair’s site in the gray, but I checked, and other colors are in the process of being added. (I’ll post an update when the “sandstone” becomes available.)

Other sources:  vanity light (this coordinates with our living room lighting)

pagoda prints  //  faucet  //  pedestal sink //  rug

Here’s my newest video for Wayfair’s YouTube channel that shows my overall experience with this wallpaper. (Don’t mind the UK hashtag on the back of my t-shirt. Totally didn’t think about that until later, but GO CATS!?)

Love the wallpaper Emily! I have been looking for something similar to back my built-in bookcases. Can the average consumer order samples too? I was unable to find a place to do so!

Hi Adrienne, I checked with my Wayfair contact on this, and she said although you’re not able to order samples, she would recommend ordering the smallest quantity and returning, if you need to.

PS–I’d also be happy to send you the samples I’m finished with, if you email me :)

Nice! I have been thinking about wallpapering the insides of my bookshelves. Maybe this would work! Have a great week!

You’re so cute. That looks great, Emily, and so easy to use. I with they had a gingham peel and stick paper! ;)

Wow this looks great! I love the look of grasscloth, but the nightmare memories of stripping our entire 1st house of wallpaper still make my hands cramp! This might be the perfect solution!

Wow, totally looks do-able! I’m also looking for wallpaper options for our powder room, but not sure if we’re brave enough to DIY with the traditional option. This is great, and I love the color options available! Thanks Emily!

Great post! I’ve been seriously considering grasscloth for my bedroom ceiling, but I’ve been afraid to do anything permanent in case I want to go back to the plain, ol’ plaster ceiling. Do you think this product would stay put up there?

Yes–and I think this would be the perfect option for paper on the ceiling. The other way is tricky!

This looks great! Is the wallpaper textured (like grasscloth) or is it a flat image?

      Hi Sara,

It’s very lightly textured but mostly flat. Not like traditional grasscloth but it definitely tricks the eye!

Girl I’m about to wallpaper both of my bathrooms WITHOUT this cool paper. Dreading it! This looks like a breeze. Can’t wait to see the finished powder room!

I am happy to hear that grasscloth is in style again! I have a 16 x 26 room of it on all the walls and we can not even think of steam in that room to take it down because of our grand piano. Way back when I was a young married wife we used to use contact ‘paper’ on the walls. I think my sister did every kitchen in every apartment she lived in back in the 80’s.

I want to add wallpaper to my laundry room. I’ll be sure to check out what Wayfair has to offer.

It looks beautiful, and this paper might just be the perfect otoion for my powder bath that has terrible walls. (The previous owner painted over wallpaper and now it is all peeling and the walls are in need of repair). I have a small room, but I wondered how many rolls/pieces you needed for your bathroom? Thank you!

Hi there! Does this look like vinyl or more grasscloth like? I’m affairs it will look too cheesy.

It definitely looks like it’s textured. Not glossy like vinyl at all.

I love the thought of peel and stick grasscloth wallpaper. Can this be painted? I need to have all one color in my hall.

If you wanted a paper to paint, then I’d do a textured paper. This is flat (only looks textured) so you’d lose the look of grass cloth.

How do you get behind the toilet so well? I am trying to find a link of this actually being done but I am unsuccessful!
