Just as I was about to pull the metal mini-blinds (circa 1986) straight off of the windows with one good, frustrated yank, Blindsgalore offered send us some cordless roman shades for the girls’ bedrooms in exchange for a review. If I never have to hear the sound of metal blinds or fight with the cords again, it won’t be long enough.
The difference it made in the overall look of the room is pretty wonderful, but the ease of pulling the shades up and down is even better. I went with these roman shades and chose white with ebony trim for the room above and white with nautical (blue) trim for the “purple” room:
The great thing about ordering custom is that you can pretty much get any size you need. Hanging them just a few inches above your window can make a big difference. As a point of reference, we customized the girls’ shades to hang 7 inches above the top of the window. (I also ordered them 2 1/2 inches wider than the window.)
If you’re nervous about getting it right, don’t be. The Blindsgalore online order form walks you through each step—and there’s an online chat available for real-time help.
We’ve never had cordless shades before, but they are super easy to raise and lower. They come with these (optional) handles that I thought would help with keeping them cleaner from little hands:
Do you know how much I love having no cords??
I also added the blackout liner option, and it makes their rooms so dark and cozy in the mornings. I want these for every room in the house now. It’s like that dark, hotel room kind of window treatment.
(I’m expecting lots of late sleepers this Summer.)
You can shop all of their window treatment options here. (They also offer 15 free samples to help you get started.)
Thanks to Blindsgalore for partnering with me on this post.
I need to check these out! I’ve been thinking about adding roman shades to my kids rooms since we still have the nasty old metal ones in their rooms from the previous owners. I also imagine their little toddler hands just ripping down the drapes I have, but have yet to hang,
their rooms are gorgeous! i love that first one especially, and the shades are perfect.
Really lovely! And they look very well made.
Those shades are great, and the rooms are beautiful! I would love a source for the print, the bedding, and the desk in the first room!
Beautiful! Which fold did you choose, Emily?
I just went with the flat fold.
Looks great! I also love the look of the dresser. Is that the same color as the walls, but in high gloss?
Is the black trim an accent?
This post came at just the right time. I’ve been checking Etsy for made-to-order cordless roman shades for my dining room, but these are perfect! Thank you!
Could you share the source for the grey and white duvet/comforter?
Sure–it’s from Ballard Designs. I’ll be doing a follow up post on that soon.
Love it and would like to order… Which white did you select from the product color choice – i.e. wales white, fundamental white. It’s hard to tell from the selection…. Thank you!
Nicole
Fundamental white.
Awesome blossom….thanks. ;)

They look great, Emily and I love that they don’t have cords! Perfect choices!

I’m just blown away by the difference the shades made in an already beautiful space! You have inspired me and I will be ordering some! I was pleasantly surprised at how affordable they really are. Thanks Emily!
Thanks, Kathleen!
These look beautiful! I love your style. Would you be able to comment or post a pic of what the shades look like from the outside? Curious both when pulled down, as well as when they are up (and still hang down a bit over window)?
Thank you!! Love your blog!
It’s just a solid white background. Looks pretty clean from the street.
How was the install? Based on the IG photo it was hard to tell if it was a nightmare or not.
Well, you know I didn’t hang them if you’re following on IG :) He put them up pretty fast, though, even with all of the “help”.
I love it when you do sponsored posts. These shades look great and I checked out the website. They seem quite affordable (and lots of options). It helps me to seem them in a home situation. Thanks for the information.
Thanks, Brenda. So glad this was helpful.
No more unsightly cords….. and not to mention the child safety factor!
Their rooms are beautiful! Hope y’all have a great summer!
How have the shades held up to the children’s rooms, Emily? Are you still pleased with the quality?
Yes– so far, so good!
Hello. I was wondering what is the name/number and maker of the purple color. The room is beautiful and I love the color for my daughter’s room. Thanks!
Hi, i love the art, where is it from?
