I mentioned the other day that I’ve been experimenting with new colors in this house. I feel like I know “my colors” pretty well, so if you would have told me a year ago that I would be using pastels on my walls, I would’ve thought you were crazy. But, I guess it’s all a matter of what you put with them. I’m amazed at how much I actually like these three paint colors that I thought I’d never use. . .
pillows: orange // green // leopard // black
pillows: green // blue // pink // red

pillows: red // blue pagoda // black & white // blue & white

Hi Emily! Love the bashful pink in the bedroom. Where did you find the black/white quilt/spread that you use on your bed? I’m wanting to put a touch of black in my master bedroom and black doesn’t seem to be “in” anymore as I’m having trouble finding anything that isn’t gray. Love your blog and your work.
Sure–here you go:

Isn’t that the truth! Gray has taken over! It’s nice and all, but geezelouise… not all of us are on the gray train! Love your style Emily! I’ve been inspired by you many times over! :)
I love that you keep trying new things in your home.
My husband announced recently that we need to repaint our living, dining & kitchen. It’s all one open space. My first thought was we would just do the same color. But maybe I should try something new. I’ve always been attracted to dark rooms. Maybe I should give a dark color a whirl.
Will you be sharing the source for the brass wall sconces in your middle daughter’s room in a future post? Thanks!
Hi Shannon–They’re these from our old living room, with different shades that I found at Target:

So we’ll see your middle daughter’s room in about 10 years when she’s off to college? 😜 I only say that because I have 3 girls ages, 14, 12 and 10, so I can relate all too well! Lovely house, lovely you!
That’s probably accurate. Although, I did just clean up another wall for tomorrow’s blog post ;)
Great job, momma! Looks amazing!
I wish I knew about that blue the other day!!! At the end of a remodel and my teen daughter wanted a soft blue but that didn’t look like a nursery. I made the rookie mistake of buying with out testing (like I said, end of remodel, so done!) It look like a nursery…When I get the energy I have to test out that blue. Pinning to my ‘paint swatch’ board now!
Love the first image. Do you know where the velvet pillow is from? I can’t find that exact color anywhere and it’s perfect for one of my projects. Thanks!
Yes–I got it here:

I love that you embrace color, all white is getting so cliche and overdone. I painted pink three years ago when we moved into our new (old 1922) house. My husband thought I was a bit crazy but I am still loving it.
Happy to hear that :)
Did you use the Mauve Finery at full strength or cut it a bit?
Used it full strength.
