I feel like I’m a little behind on blogging right now. So, if you notice that things are a little slower around here, it’s because they are. Isn’t it weird how not having one room (the kitchen) can send the rest of your house into a tailspin? Right now, this is where I’m working, eating, fixing lunches, and opening a lot of takeout. It’s a little crazy, and I’m having trouble finding one clear surface in our house.
Hopefully, only a few more weeks until the kitchen is functional! Stay tuned for updates. It’s starting to look (somewhat) like a kitchen again.
Catching up? This is what’s happening at our house.
I cannot wait to hear the color of the paint used for your kitchen!!
Hang in there! I know it is so hard to THINK with everything out of place. I cannot imagine doing it with a home business and five kids! It is going to be AMAZING and worth the wait…both for you and us!
Soon it will be lovely, and you will have your dream kitchen!
I feel a fraction of your pain. As I type, three bedrooms are being re-carpeted. Good to have new carpet, but no fun having to pack and move my adult daughters’ belongings out of the “storage” closets along with all the clutter and do dads I shall be very selective about putting back into the rooms. Both bathtubs, most of one bathroom and all of the dining room is a huge mess!
Yet, I’m totally envious of your new carpet. That’s next on the (long) list!
Ugh! I know the feeling well. Last year we replaced our old floors and wall to wall carpet with new wood floors. I lived in one bedroom and the office with no kitchen and it is quite disruptive to everyday life…and I didn’t even have small children underfoot! Hang in there! It will all be worth it when you have your beautiful new kitchen. Kind of like childbirth….you forget the pain once it’s over! :)
I feel your pain. I felt like I could not function with our kitchen torn up and I had to go outside to go from one end of the house to the other which was the pits. And for some reason I could not remember to eat. I get it.
Now, that would be bad. At least our kitchen is on one side of the house so we can just go out through the living room. And, I do feel like I’ve eaten less during this process :)
Emily, you will be so thrilled when it is all done!
Just a bit of painting around here threw me off track!

I have only lived through 1 kitchen reno in my life. I was young & single at the time so the only one inconvienced at the time was me. I would stay at work later & ate a lot of salads. But it was the dust that drove me crazy.
There is a special place in heaven reserved for moms like you. Dealing with all this and your kids! I don’t know how you do it.
you know emily i love the renovation/construction process. i love the sound of hammers and drills and all the work going on in a project because i know once it’s quiet it is over and it will probably be a long time before i hear those noises again! don’t get me wrong, i do love the peace and quiet and order but there is just something about all that upheaval that i truly love. so weird i know. x
ps – it’s a beautiful mess you have going on there. that wallpaper!
It is definitely exciting! I’m just ready to eat real food again :)
Thank you for sharing this! I have four children under six, and we just moved into a beautiful old fixer upper. sometimes seeing blogs with beautiful pictures of perfectly clean houses can be a little disheartening. It is so relieving to see a beautiful space that is actually lived in! Can’t wait to see your progress!
You got this! And yes, the whole house suffers, doesn’t it? And my kids moods…mine too probably. :)
Yes–everybody here is over it. . . You’re way closer!
Hang in there. It will be over before you know it. I LOVE that wallpaper….do you mind sharing who makes it?
Thanks! I ordered it from York Wallcoverings.
