A Traditional Holiday With Linen And Boxwoods

November 13, 2015

If there’s one time of the year where tradition counts, it’s Christmas. One of our local malls recently decided that they were going to do away with the huge Christmas tree they put up every year and installed a modern (and rather strange looking) glacier instead. The backlash was crazy, and they once again have the tree up. I guess in the spirit of bigger and better, we’re always trying to come up with something new. But, it’s hard to go wrong with traditional, especially where holiday decorating is concerned.

For our first Christmas in this house, I’m envisioning classic decorations, garlands and red and green. I also love the plaids and buffalo checks that are popping up everywhere.

I’ve teamed up with Linen and Boxwoods a couple of times before, and they’re always a good source for home accessories, gifts and pretty things for the table. As their name would suggest, they have a good selection of preserved boxwood wreaths and topiaries, but they also have a lot of other pieces for creating a traditional holiday style. I pulled some of my favorites from their site, for decorating and for giving:

I agree, that “spaceship glacier” was atrocious! So weird. I’m glad they brought the tree back!

I do love their pretty array of items. There’s a linen pillow I’d buy if I were to win!

I agree with everyone’s sentiments. Is there anything more traditional for Christmas than boxwoods and magnolias.

I would chose something that I could use for a centerpiece.

Wonder if all the mall people got together on that one because our Ohio mall did the exact same thing although they have yet to change it. The beautiful tree is missed by me for sure.

I think it must be the same company who owns all of those malls because I saw another one in New York on the news. . . #badidea
