This kitchen “before & after” motivates me to keep going with my own.

Lots of fun little styling tricks in this post.
Etsy now has some competition. Have you heard that Amazon launched a similar section on their site dedicated to handmade items? Much like Etsy, individual artisans can sell their products in an online marketplace. I’m curious if those of you who are Etsy sellers will be selling on both or switching services. . . Thoughts? Shop (and see) Handmade at Amazon here.
Hi Emily,
I love your Saturday 6 post! I have been an Etsy seller for several years now and after hearing about Amazon Handmade I checked it out. I for one will not be switching over. Amazon’s fees are much higher for a seller and I’m not a fan of the look and feel of the seller’s shop. I love Etsy because it features both handmade and vintage and it feels like a true artisan gallery versus a slick online store which is what Amazon feels like to me. My two cents!
Have a great weekend.
Shelly
I just don’t think “warm” while shopping at Amazon! Etsy is like Pinterest but with a checkout cart. laura
I loved reading #3!
I will definitely try to sell on Amazon. I am a huge fan of Amazon. In addition, as a mom of two teens I look at other shops run by moms with kids and wonder how they can truly crank out all the product they do. I always have my home décor and prettying up on hold for my shop. There is not enough time for mom duties, Etsy shop, and home DIY so I question the high turnout rate of some shops. I would like to try the new outlet for shops like mine that are handmade by the one person–that is one of Amazon’s distinctions that I appreciate.
I can appreciate how selling on Amazon can help artisans, but I tend to stay away from Amazon unless there is truly no other option for reasons that many have stated elsewhere. I don’t mind paying a little more to shop on other sites. I tried out the Amazon Handmade search and found it really lacking compared to Etsy’s.
Thanks so much for the feature, Emily. You made my Saturday extra happy!
I’ve been an Amazon seller for years (books, etc. — not handmade stuff) and Amazon does not have the seller’s best interests at heart.
They always side with they buyer in a dispute (despite evidence, and other safe-guards like postal insurance, etc.)
We had such a terrible experience that we took Amazon to small claims court (and won!). Amazon will have to change policies if they want to grow a community of handmade sellers.
