Believe it or not—even after my wallpaper removal fiasco—I’m putting paper up in our entry. It’s a small spot, and I just wanted a big “hello” when you walk through the front door. I ordered a a few samples and taped them to the wall. It took me less than five minutes to decide. . .
There’s not much wall to cover, so I knew it was my chance to go big or go home. :) The classic navy “hourglass trellis” (from York Wall) was the winner, hands down. (Wouldn’t you know that was the sample I added as an afterthought?) I like that the blue and white theme will carry throughout the house and think the pattern is bold without being overly trendy.
If I pull from the other things I already have, it’ll probably end up looking something like this:
(My mirror, chandelier, and umbrella stands were all thrifted finds. The small table I’m thinking of using belonged to my great grandmother.)

How would one get the plaid paper sample from your sample pic?
It’s Harris Plaid, also from York.
Love it! It will be striking and fun, too. I like how you’re using the sentimental table from your grandmother, too.
Emily, will you take the paper all the way down the hall? If not, where is your stopping point and how did you decide? Thanks!
By the way, I contacted you when you were selling your house. My daughter/blog partner is now living in Charlotte. They bought in Chantilly area.
Janette
I won’t be taking the paper up the stairs; just around the front door and two other small walls that both have doorways.
Hope your daughter is enjoying Charlotte!
I see that your new house has the polished brass like your other house. Are you going to work with it in decorating your space this time?
Love your style.
Cindy
I guess so. To be honest, I hardly notice it anymore :)
My house has it also. I don’t really mind it but when I look at new spaces (or hear other people talk) I feel like I should try to change it.
This is going to look SO good!
Will the white background of the paper work next to your white trim? I always worry about putting different whites next to each other. Or am I over-thinking it?
I love that you are doing wallpaper. Not only will it be beautiful but it’s easier to keep looking clean compared to just a painted wall. Great for families.
I think you can use lots of different whites together. Our trim is pretty bright, though, so I don’t think it’ll be a big difference…
Nice choice!
Love the paper you chose. I have the same type foyer. Curious to see how you deal with the stairway wall How do you create a stopping point when you do not carry it up the stairs?
I just won’t paper any of that wall. Only three of the four walls in the entry will have paper. You’ll see soon :)
Can’t wait to see the “after” photo. Great choice.
You’re good for deciding to quickly! Takes me forever to make design decision these days. Love blue and white and can’t wait to see what it looks like in your foyer!
If I don’t do everything quickly these days, it never gets done! :)
Love your style.thanks
Hi Emily, Love the direction you are going with your entry and I agree about making a statement at your entry, it is a nice introduction to what your guest are about to see. We get the keys for our new home On Tuesday and we are beyond excited. I have plans of a blue and white entry as well. You can read about it here if you have a chance…….http://goodlifeofdesign.blogspot.com/2015/07/possibilities-for-my-new-homes-entry_8.html
Happy Saturday,
Kathysue
When I saw the three options, I thought, “I hope she chose the navy trellis”! I’m looking forward to seeing it!
