Last weekend, I was lucky to find this colorful Turkish rug at an estate sale (organized by Jennifer; you should follow her if you’re in the Charlotte area!). I love the look of these rugs, but they can be pricey. As a reference, this one is approximately 3 x 5’, in perfect condition, and I paid $70—which I thought was a great deal. I wanted to wait until the half-price day of the sale but just knew it would be gone.
(Did you notice I changed up the pillows, too?)
It’s a little too small for this space, but I do love the look of layered rugs so it’s here until it lands somewhere else. (The jute rug is from here.)
Here are a few I found online that come in a similar size, without breaking the bank. (Not necessarily lucky estate sale prices, mind you!)

Beautiful rug. I am now following Jennifer since I will be right around the corner in just one more week!!! I found some great deals on Turkish rugs while in Germany and I bought one or two large ones but I also have a few this size. The layered look is a great idea but (not so secretly) I’m longing for a wide bathroom with vintage tile, and a claw foot tub for mine. A girl can dream right?
Emily,
I am seriously considering the heathered chenille jute rug for our family room. However, I have two little ones who track their crumbs everywhere! Do you find the rug hard to vacuum clean since it has a bit of chunky texture? (And you have more little people than me!)
It’s chunky but still tightly woven enough that it’s easy to vacuum. And, honestly, that rug will hide all kinds of crumbs :)
Love these rugs, I think you found a treasure.
I bought a 7 x 9 turkish rug at Haven in the EBTH auction. It is at the rug cleaners now, and I can’t wait to put it under our the table in our revamped kitchen.
Love the new pillows, rug, and table too!
What a great find! I think it looks great under the coffee table, and with your new pillows. This is no secret, but eBay is a great source for these types of rugs. I got a 9 X 12 antique over-dyed persian rug for $350!
That’s an awesome deal!
I’m an estate sale junkie (estatesales.net) and I’m always looking for a good deal on rugs. Rugs just seem to be one of those out of the park super expensive things, though.
I have been obsessed with Turkish rugs lately and scoured the web for months until I found the right one size-wise and color wise for my kitchen. It can be such a bold statement I didn’t want to get it wrong – and the sizes are tough: Sometimes I found one I like but it was either too small or too big. But it became kind of a treasure hunt for me! Ha! Here’s a link to mine:

I bought it on Ebay from ApollonRug:

Well, I got completely sidetracked by your whole home tour. Beautiful!
Thanks for the link on the rugs, too :)
Amy – What a gorgeous home you have! Any chance you could share your sources for the RW Emerson signs and the art in your mantle? I LOVE your home.
And also, just curious what the dining room paint color is?
I NEED #3!!! Now how do I convince the hubs? Despite having a mother with impeccable taste (and many turkish rugs consequently) he is totally clueless about how much real, adult furniture costs and completely oblivious as to why his current bathroom cart complete with towel rack is not an acceptable nightstand. And I have a whole house to furnish (we went from like 500 sq ft to 2000 and basically all of the furniture we owned needed to be replaced anyway). Wish me luck.
We’ll just pray for you :)
Looks so gorgeous! I saw the photos that Jennifer posted of that estate sale, and I seriously thought about driving back to NC for it ;) I love the layered look you have going on, and the pillows are perfect!
It was a good one–and I got there several hours after it started. Let me know if you decide to come this way to shop sometime.
What a great treasure! I love your updated classic look. It’s so inviting but not stuffy at all. I get so much inspiration from your style! Thanks!
Thank you :)
I’m in the market for a sofa and like yours. Where is it from? Love your style!!!
Craigslist :) But, the manufacturer is Alexvale.
Thanks for sharing the estate sale love – so happy to see that beauty in your fabulous home! :)
Hi Emily. How has your jute rug held up? Would you use it in a dining area (eat in kitchen)? I have 5 kiddos and am looking for a durable rug to put under our kitchen table. Thanks!
Missy
P.S. The Turkish rug was a great find!
I still love our jute rug. Here’s a little update: https://emilyaclark.com/2015/01/my-most-asked-about-accessories.html
I’m not sure I’d use any rug in a dining area. At least in our house…
I love your rug, especially how you have layered it. I recently wrote a post on selecting the perfect rug and mentioned how designers are layering rugs. I also have a Turkish rug over the top of sisal and some friends have commented that maybe I am overdoing design but I love it and will now show them your post. I love your cushions too, we have similar taste.
Hi! I am drawn to the pillows!! Can you tell me where you got them😀. Thanks so much.
