I’m in one of those moods where I just need change. Any kind of change. It’s something about knowing we have another good month of winter ahead when I can’t wait to start seeing some green on the trees. (I swear I think I might need one of those sun lamps.) So, for now, I’m moving things around from room to room. The natural cure for the winter blahs—right?
I started by making a few easy changes in the master bedroom—swapping things out for pieces I already had in other rooms or stored away.
The striped rug was part of this project and is indoor/outdoor. I’m surprised at how different it makes the room look by adding some pattern on the floor. The lamps are the ones from Marshall’s that I previously used on our piano. And, the black mirror (from Pier 1) was originally red until I sprayed it and hung it above our mantel for a while. (I really like the look of using a bigger mirror than you really need and floating it slightly behind the headboard.)
Using all-white bedding and leaving the pattern just on the pillows also goes a long way in making the room feel fresher.
(Need more sources? You can find them in this post.)
Love how a few changed-out accessories can create a whole new look. Beautiful as always, Emily!
Nice fresh changes! I hear you about needing some green and warmth. Having cabin fever has caused me to want to purge everything leaving me with less of what I don’t like and more of what I love! Stay warm :)
There is just something about all white bedding that feels so crisp, classic and clean. I also love your nightstands – they are so pretty!
Looks “fresh” for sure! I’m going to try that positioning of the mirror and see what it looks like in our bedroom. I’m am always switching things from room to room (did it yesterday, in fact!). A change in one room naturally means another room will change; fortunately, my husband isn’t one who needs everything in its place, 4ever. What he especially likes is that these changes don’t decrease a penny from the checking account.
Love it! Are you going to put a comforter cover on the down comforter? Even if it’s all white, it will protect the down…
Nope :) Easier to just throw in the wash and I like the pattern on it.
Love all the changes, I like this look even more, but I am an all white bedding kind of gal so this is right up my alley and adding the black mirror and striped rug really made a huge difference.
Great changes!

Looks fab! I always love your style and I’m drying to know where you got the pillows in front of the animal print? I want that fabric so badly I can hardly stand it ;)
Oh! I am always moving stuff around, so fun to see what a few changes can make to an entire space! Very beautiful Emily!!
What a great idea! Emily, I’ve always loved that gold mirror. I’ve seen it on your site for years and never asked about it; but, where did you get it? I’d love to find something like it for my house, but haven’t seen anything similar. Have you?
Thanks!
I bought it 10+ years ago at an outlet store where my parents’ live, but it has since gone out of business. Wish I’d bought 50 of them :)
It’s so bright and fresh. The black really makes the white pop even more.
Beautiful and fresh new look! I love changes that use what we already have:)

I really need a new comforter, mine is turning colors?!?!? Do you remember where you purchased the actual comforter and what type it is?
Yes, this is the new one I just bought last month. (I really like it!) Link (and description) here:

I like how it worked out. It makes the other patterns feel more special and adds a more grounding texture.
It’s fun how making a few simple changes can really make a room seem like an entirely new space! Love the rug!
It looks amazing, Emily. Love the addition of the striped rug and white linens are my favorite with great pillows! Such a fun change ~
I love how it turned out! I am in the process of staging my home to sell it and I would love to know where you bought your pillows. I am looking for a fabric with similar color scheme for my bedroom and these would be perfect. Thank you.
Hi Emily,
I love the look of the room. I love your style and always check in before I make changes in my home. I am currently redoing my bedroom and would love to know where you got the pillows or the fabric to make the pillows which are in front of the animal print pillows.
Thank you,
Ivette
