Dissecting The Details: An Easy, Breezy Foyer

February 9, 2015

I think I might have a bad case of beach fever, but I was taken by this house that was featured in Charleston Magazine last year. I especially liked the simplicity of the entryway with its great mix of white, wood, rattan and just the right amount of color.

Here are a few ways you could recreate the overall look, even if you don’t live in a Charleston beach house—or have a huge entryway:

I pinned that same entry. I am so in love with that floor.

So pretty! I have been toying with the idea of having a Moravian star fixture for our little entryway foyer, but I am worried that it might be too trendy. We have a 1925 bungalow, so I don’t want it to look out of place. Styled like this, the light fixture looks very classic. Love it!

Love this! I think another lesson to learn from this photo is just how much is going on here. There’s the floor, wall/ceiling treatment, unique lighting, several pieces of furniture, accessories, and artwork, not to mention the attention paid to texture and color. Well designed rooms have a lot of elements working together.

I love the star pendant and the rug especially from this selection!

I, too love that star pendant. Wonder which size they selected?

For a foyer, I’d always lean toward bigger lighting–even in a smaller space. I think the star pendant could tend to look a little underwhelming if too small…

Thanks Emily! We have a very small entryway but I think this would look great!

I’m working with a client and trying to help her take the plunge to paint her sun room’s concrete floors using a fun geometric pattern. I think the bold & neutral combo is perfect for the space.

    Love the post, Emily:)

Thank you, Robin! I think so. I always like to pick apart the rooms I like–so interesting to try to pin down what it is that makes them so good.
