You know when you see a room and everything about it just feels so “you” or at least, what you want your home to be? That’s what I thought when I came across this image last week. Apparently, many of you felt the same (it was one of my most popular pins), so I thought it might be fun to break down the details of what makes this space so good.

This room is so you! I think of you anytime I see blue and white ginger jars and accessories. I love this leather wingback chair. It is the perfect modern remake of a traditional piece. I would love to have 2 of those for my living room.

Great post, Emily. For someone without a design experience, this helps me understand why I like the look of the room and ques me in on pieces I should shop for.
I love the West Elm chair, I just wish it was half the price!
I love how blue and black is a thing now! I also adore the contrast of a femme white English roll arm sofa with a masculine leather armchair – I think they go perfectly with one another!
Me, too!
You may have just save me hundreds of dollars! I’ve been saving FOREVER for these: http://www.restorationhardware.com/catalog/product/product.jsp?productId=prod2460587&categoryId=cat1701019 which I think are almost exactly like the ones in your post today. Wouldn’t you think?! Shouldn’t I just go head and get the ones you recommended??
They look almost exactly the same–and what a deal! If you end up ordering them, I’d love to hear what you think.
Absolutely! Will be in touch!
I need that wall lamp but the link isn’t working for me. Could you point me to where I can find it on Amazon ? Thanks, Tammy
Sure, here you go:

I really like this room. I find myself craving less visual clutter and a white room with such clean details is lovely. Thanks for breaking down the details. I know what I like but I can’t always get the look. Breaking it down into the parts makes it seem so do-able!
This is my good friend, Debbie’s house. I sat in there lots of times. She is so talented!
How fun! How could I see more of her house?
That’s one lovely room!!! Your friend has great taste :-). Do you happen to know her source for those shades? I just love them!
Thanks for including all of these links! We’re closing on our home today, and I’ve been looking for some of these exact things! That sofa is unfortunately not offered on One King’s Lane anymore, but it encourages me to know that I could find one that I like in that size. So many sofas are so large these days, but I need a smaller one to fit into our new living room. Always appreciate your design tips, Emily; thanks for all the work you put into your blog!
I have always loved this look and have enough of the items for a similar setup. I was just in the process of adding color and “cheering” things up and now fear that I have made a mistake. How do you really define your style? I seem to like a lot of things and really would not like to paint again for the 7th time (no I am not kidding!). I have taken multiple design quizzes and looked through my pinterest board but I am really at a loss. I have never painted my walls white but now I am wondering if I should?!? Seriously considering an intervention!
Love your blog! Lesha
love this kind of post–very helpful and instructive! Thank you for all the time this took and your expertise, well, priceless! I feel very comfortable in the room above and my chenille heathered PB jute rug arrives on Saturday!
Great! Hope you like the rug :)
“You know when you see a room and everything about it just feels so “you” or at least, what you want your home to be?”
That’s exactly how I felt when I saw your home on style me pretty!
I love that. Best kind of compliment!
What a beautiful room! I love the clean look of blue & white. I think I need those Pottery Barn pillows in my life ;)
This room is perfection, top to bottom.
I love this post! And I love those shades! Are they mounted differently than the ones you put up the link to though?
