It’s that time again when we all try to win the HGTV Dream Home (and never do). I could’ve cared less about some of the locations in the past, but this year, it’s in Cape Cod, and it’s a beauty. Since a lot of what makes the dream house so dreamy is in the architecture itself, it’s kind of hard to look at it sometimes and then take away any “real life” inspiration for our own houses. So, I decided to dissect some of the details in the photos on HGTV.com to show you some of my favorite decorating and styling ideas that may inspire your own spaces.

What a great post Emily! I really love this house and you helped me zero in on some of the specific details that make it special. And I’ve been wanting to go with a similar neutral color scheme, but with the popularity of gray the last few years, thought maybe it would look too dated. This lovely home proves that some looks are timeless!
