An Attic Office Space

August 25, 2014

Is it weird that I mentally redecorate our house for twenty years down the road when I haven’t even finished decorating it the first time around yet? Although I’m still working on getting the boys’ upstairs room finished, I already think about what kind of “design studio” it could become one day. . .

This little office space has similar angles and has my (future) wheels turning:

Considering I just dropped one off at kindergarten this morning, it’s probably not time to start decorating their spaces post-graduation yet. Right?! Besides, if I turn our upstairs into a design studio, where will all of the grandkids sleep??

Do you do future decorating in your head, too?

You crack me up!! I totally do the same thing….if only I had tons of money to blow on furniture and a contractor, our home would be perfect for every stage of our family. Love love your blog!! BTW, who is your favorite HGTV designer. I love Sarah Richardson but she is never on air?!?

Sarah is great. Love her style! To be honest, I watch very little HGTV these days… I seem to always be catching up on my Bravo shows. Ha!

I completely understand, only mine hasn’t even been decorated the first time. After my widowed dad remarried 13 years ago, we moved into my childhood home. While I repainted here and there, that’s about it. We never seem to have the extra money to even buy a picture frame. I sew, but never any extra for fabric. I have decorated my house a million times everyday in my head. Hoping to win the lottery to actually do it!!

I do the same thing – it is impossible to stop! I’ve got several ‘future’ rooms decorated and I still haven’t gotten around to hemming the curtains in the girls’ bedroom. :) Happy First day of Kindergarten.

You crack me up! I absolutely LOVE that attic space. What a dream — I think I’d spend my entire time up there away from everything. :)
Congratulations on three down, two to go! My girls start kindergarten tomorrow. Not quite sure how I’ll handle it yet.

Well-I’m glad I’m not the only one. But I actually redecorate the smaller make believe house I plan to move us into after the oldest 3 are off and we’re down to one in high school. Since he just started kindergarten last week, and I actually love our current house, I really am jumping the gun.

I feel like I do the same thing a lot. The only thing is I think I’d need to win the lottery to do the ideas in my head.

I totally decorate for the future! And converting the attic to a studio is high on the list.

Such inspirational pictures! And I get to create a studio in the dormer room of the house I moved into just a week ago. You’ve given me even more ideas …

I’m loving decorating for and celebrating this season of our lives. Our kiddos are little and I love creating spaces with kids in minds. Makes it a little less weird decorating with stuffed animals : P

I do the same thing all the time. I decorate for my next house that we haven’t even started looking for!

Ha ha, I’m actually mentally decoration our NEXT house since we’re two years away from an empty nest and anxious to get somewhere quieter… love that attic space. Oh the creativity that could blossom there!

LOVE that attic space! We’ve got two attic rooms in the new house and I’m scratching my head on how to decorate. The walls are currently red (um…NO!) One will be the office and the other will be …? something fun. :) I can’t wait to paint the walls white! :)
