It probably makes me happier than it should to be able to cut fresh flowers from our yard. (Free!) And, after not being able to find one for the last couple of years, I finally got a limelight hydrangea this Summer. It blooms white and then turns a really pretty shade of “lime” green. I love hydrangeas of any color, but these fit right in with the colors in our house.
I’ve been mixing the blooms with some of the bigger leaves from my other hydrangeas that aren’t showing any signs of blooming this season.
Of course, my limelight is still a baby, but I look forward to the day it looks like this one in my parents’ yard. A perfect backdrop for a nearly perfect photo session with the cousins. . .
My Endless Summer hydrangea has nine blossoms and it’s pink. We have blue siding so I don’t add to the soil for the blue color. My husband transplanted it into a shadier spot and I don’t plan to cut these beautiful blooms this year. But next year, look out. I’m hoping come fall, I can cut them after they dry out naturally. I’m planning to buy and plant a Limeligkt this fall. Seems they take less care and I love their green. Enjoy your blog and your sense of style.
We just planted several limelights in our front/side yard. I LOVE them so far and am looking for other places for more!
Your limelight hydrangea is so pretty! My husband and I planted several hydrangea bushes with blue blooms when we moved in our house, but all of them turned into pink because of the soil! I wonder limelight will stay white/lime green in our soil… I love the vignette. It’s so pretty with all the different textures! xx
They will always stay white/green no matter soil pH. They also turn a pretty pinkish color in the fall. :-)
Great to know! Thanks Luisa! xx
Beautiful! My hydrangeas didn’t bloom this year. :( I had that pair of birds and passed them along to my sister…I’ve regretted it ever since! Hoping they’ll show back up at my house someday. ;)
I just found mine at an estate sale. Of course, I bought them to sell at the booth, but we all know how that goes…
Btw, your sofa table looks great. I tried to comment from my phone and it didn’t go through. Love how you accessorized yours :)
That is about the best picture you could get with all of those little ones. Love it!
Love a good Limelight bloom….my regular hydrangea did not bloom this year. I think it was because of the bad weather last winter:( I planted a few Annabelle Hydrangea this summer so looking forward to their blooms hopefully next year.
I planted some when we first bought our home 10 years ago. Although small at first, they grow now to cover the entire side of our house! I’ve found that if I cut them back each year before winter, they grow even bigger the following spring! I dry some to use at Christmas time with magnolia clippings and it looks absolutely stunning! Either in the green color they are when I dry them or spritzed with spray paint or glitter ( they hold up well!), they make for a cheap and easy way to bring the outdoors in for the holidays!:)
Great idea to use them at Christmas!
I grew up with that pair of birds on our family piano. My mom adored them. What a fun sight to see them on your piano.
That must be where they belong :)
My hydrangeas did not bloom this year at all. I’m not sure why but I am heartbroken.
Lovely post! Great blog:) dailydoseofdarling.com
I planted 6 limelights last year and they were so lovely! Then, this year I moved! I miss them…waaaaahhhh! I used to have the hardest time getting all the tiny little bugs off before bringing them in. Is there a secret to doing it?
Ok, I love the “limelight” hydrangea, too, but what I love MORE are the lamps on your piano! Any chance you would share your source?
Yes, Marshall’s :)
