Happy 4TH! (And New Pieces At The Booth)

July 4, 2014

american-pie

Happy 4th of July! Hope you have a fun day celebrating.

I’m going to whip one of these up right after I finish this post ;)

(Or, maybe I’ll just pin it and say I did.)

And, if you’re a local reader and have some time to shop over the holiday weekend, I’ve added a few new pieces to my booth at the Catawba River Antique Mall over the last week. Would love to hear if you stop by!

Also, I’ve had several of you ask, and I’m semi-toying around the idea of opening an Etsy shop in addition to the booth. It just seems to make sense since most of you probably aren’t local. If you have (or have had) one, I’m open to your advice. . .

Hi Emily, the shop and styling looks great! I’ve been wondering if it’s too soon to expect an update from you on your thoughts on being a booth dealer? Etsy is a great idea!

Thanks, Julie. Give me another couple of months and I think I’ll have a better idea. So far, so good but I’m still learning.

    Hi Emily,
I have enjoyed looking that the products you have in your booth via your blog. You have a great eye. I have had an Etsy shop (confettistyledesigns) for several years and really enjoy it. I’ve learned a few things since opening it so here is my advise:
    * Add new products to your shop on a regular basis–this really keeps people coming back to your shop to see what’s new.
    * The more items you have available for sell the more traffic your shop will get.
    * Just like with blogging, share your shop on your social media outlets to build exposure.
    * Always get insurance when shipping anything breakable.
    * Take great photos and write great product descriptions–tell the viewers everything they might want to know about that item.

If you decide to open a shop, I’d love to share it with my blog readers.
    Have a great weekend.
    Shelly

I think an Etsy shop is a great idea. I already see a few things I would be interested in from the pic you posted.

Just read your post today (I am catching up on my favorite blogs) and wanted to encourage you to open an Etsy shop. I have always wanted a retail shop of my own, but since I am a busy mom and interior designer, just didn’t see how I would have the time to do it! (Actually, I have considered renting a “stall” in an antiques shop similar to yours- maybe you can share with me how it is going!?) Anywhoo, the Etsy shop has been a great experience. I live in Florida and most of my items are coastal- I make most everything in the shop from sea shells or starfish, etc… I have two local friends who also had Etsy shops, they came over and showed me the “ropes”, I decided to start small and designed a handful of items, photographed them and uploaded them…it’s a fun way to sell things I love to a larger market without the overhead and time commitment of a brick and mortar shop. The Etsy community is really great too. Good luck and I hope you consider it!

Emily, love the blog; have been a reader since 2011! I noticed in one of the pictures with the blue dishes that you have a Currier and Ives creamer on display. I collect the pattern, as my dearly loved MawMaw used them for my entire childhood, but I lack a creamer. Would you possibly email me a price and shipping information? I grew up in Chester, SC not far from the Charlotte area and still have many family members in the area so visiting the Antique Mall (and finding your booth!) will be on my agenda during my next visit. Thanks so much!
