I’m so glad I didn’t turn over and go back to sleep on Saturday morning when my alarm went off at 6:30. Even though I had stayed up late the night before, and despite the fact that it looked like rain outside.
If I can just get up and get going, Saturday mornings in the summer, in the car by myself, with my coffee, searching for yard sale signs are some of my favorite times. The thrill of the hunt. The anticipation of a great find. Finding just the right spot for a little treasure once I get home. I just love it.
For the most part, I’m a pretty fast shopper. I scan everything quickly and usually know if it’s worth staying to dig some more. (I run from all baby bouncers, swings and strollers. No more of those here!) And, interestingly, I find that the better the yard sale sign, usually the worse the yard sale and vice versa. . . I don’t pre-plan my route. I just drive and look.
And sometimes, I don’t shop fast at all. Instead, I strike up a conversation with the homeowner—which can be a good thing. That would be how I ended up with this perfectly chippy, perfectly old mantel in my garage. (It wasn’t even part of his yard sale.) Boy, was my husband ever excited to see this in the back of my van when I returned home! ;) He knows by now to just help me unload the loot and not to ask questions. . .
Are you a Saturday morning treasure hunter?
I wanna go with you…..love everything you bought especially the old mantel!
Wouldn’t that be a good time?!
Love those Saturday (and Friday here) sales! I truly think that garage saling is a social thing. Striking up a conversation with the homeowner can bring all kinds of good stuff! My husband, too, waits for me when I get home to help unload. Wasn’t always that way, but he’s come around! lol
Yes, I think they eventually just give up and give in to our craziness :)
I love everything you have found. I cannot wait until I have some free Saturday’s to go hunting for treasures. Awesome finds!
The early bird definitely gets the worm when it comes to garage/yard sales! Those are some great finds! Can’t wait to see what your next Saturday loot brings. Have a great day!
I’m so envious. They are hard to come by around here. Maybe I am not looking hard enough. Can I grab a cup of coffee and come with you?! I promise I won’t steal your finds. Well, I might.
Yes!! Any weekend :)
Love all of your finds – especially the first painting! – but I’m most curious about the shorts you’re wearing in the mirror photo. Where did they come from?? So cute!
I just bought them at Marshall’s last week. Elastic waist–so comfortable!
Fun stuff you found! I, too, love early Saturday morning treasure hunting–alone! It’s a great mommy break!
Those are some amazing-looking rattan chairs reflected in the mirror! Have we seen those before? (I’m such a sucker for anything natural-woven!)
Oh those chairs! I bought them to sell at the booth but have kind of fallen in love with them since. So, they sit in my garage while I think. . .
That sounds like the perfect Saturday morning to me!
Emily, you are the bomb! I so look forward to your posts. Especially love Saturday 6 b/c you always share the coolest things. Be it a site, a blog, a, idea, a how -to. Thank you for sharing nice :) Can you share 1 more thing with me???? Where did you get your knock-out yellow & white drapes in your kitchen nook? THANK YOU!
Well, thanks :)
I had the curtains made. Source for fabric (and everything else) is here:

Emily, that sounds like such a great way to spend a Saturday morning by yourself — especially the coffee part. Such a great haul. If you shipped, I’d buy that bentwood hat rack in two seconds flat. It is GORGEOUS!!
P.S. Here’s another bentwood hat rack which was featured in Country Living. It looks almost identical to yours.

I knew I’d seen that before. Now I want to keep the thing :)
I’m toying with the idea of an Etsy shop…
I’ve been going since a little kid…my mom went every Saturday. I’m lucky here in Iowa they start on Wednesday!!
Love all your finds. I love those Saturday mornings all to myself as well. They make for a very happy mamma.
Are the white lamps new too? I LOVE them!
No, I’ve had those for years!
Isn’t that so true about garage sale signs? Saturday mornings really are the best!
Yes! I’ve learned to be a treasure hunter from my mom, who lives for garage sales. It is hard sometimes to get up early and go but the early bird does catch the worm :)
