Last week, I swapped out our console table for one I had sitting for sale in my booth at the antique mall. I finally decided that if I loved it that much, it should just come to live at our house. So far, it’s very happy here. But, this is what it looked like when I originally found it:
Beautiful lines, bad finish. Plus, the stain wouldn’t have worked well with our living room, anyway. (Maybe I was painting it for myself all along?) I used a good primer and a glossy black.
Some of the first hydrangea blooms from our yard, and of course, I used some of my favorite blue and white jars. (A lot of you have asked where I buy these. I’ve been lucky to find all of them at thrift stores—and even a yard sale—so far.)
The size, shape and height of the new table all work better in this spot. See, I guess it was meant to be. . .
It looks beautiful Emily. And so fun to have a new piece in the house I’m sure. :)
Absolutely gorgeous!
I have been trying to figure out how to incorporate my blue and white jars on my black buffet — thanks for some great ideas. Looks great!
I love your styling! I need to work on styling our console table and our new entryway table. You make it look so easy!! :) Oh and I love that lamp by the way.
It is perfect; the table is stunning and the styling is spot on!
Looks great. Really like it in black and nice styling :)
Looks beautiful!
Beautiful! Did you have to sand the finish before priming and painting? I have a lot of painting projects piling up, and I think that what’s preventing my following through with them is the thought of sanding.
I didn’t on this table. The surface itself was pretty smooth already.
That looks like perfection there, and I love all your styling! I’m totally jealous of your blue jar collection, too!!!
It’s gorgeous – I’m surprised that someone didn’t snap it up within the first day of it being at your booth! And, as always, the styling is perfect!
Oh I love the console and I adore the vignette. Everything looks amazing.
I have love how pulled together yet effortless your style is! Your house is my inspiration when I decorate. :)
Your Midas touch at work. Love it!
I’ve found all my jars thrifting too! It’s amazing what people part with. You have a lovely collection!
I saw it’s matching, beautiful end table at a thrift store last week. I had nowhere I could use it but boy I wanted it! It was in an equally ugly state.
Love the style, and you can never go wrong painting something black! Did you get a new sofa? For some reason I thought it was darker than this one. :)
Nope, same one :)
Your so right in taking it home Emily- it looks perfect there housing some of your blue & white collection!
If I didn’t live clear across the country, I would have snapped that up the first day. It was my favorite piece when you showed the items you were putting in your booth. I’m so happy you kept it! It’s perfect!
Can you tell me where you bought your lamp and the mirror over the fireplace? Love them!
The mirror is from Ballard Designs (although I think it’s discontinued now) and the lamp was a big glass jar that I bought from thrift store. I had the top from another glass lamp that I broke and put the two together :)
Absolutely love the black table. What brand of paint /color name/ finish did you use? Thanks for the info.
Styled to perfection! Love the shelf on the bottom….great find!
I love your style! I’m getting lots of tips from you and enjoy seeing all of your pictures. I paint a lot of furniture and have found that Lowe’s Valspar Paint +Primer in the spray cans works great and you don’t have to sand beforehand unless there are edges to smooth out. I normally use the gloss unless I am doing a piece that I am going to stain over the paint for an antiqued finish. Anyway, I love all your styling ideas and stop by your booth everytime I’m in the antique mall.
Where did you get your lamp? I love it!
I kind of rigged it up from an old glass jug and the top of another lamp I had that broke :)
What color paint is in your living room? Thanks!
