1.A cozy living room. (And, an example of why you shouldn’t be afraid to use larger pieces in smaller spaces.)
2. Loved this post. Love this new-to-me blog. Love that she didn’t go out and buy matching quilts for a shot at 15 minutes of fame.
4. Fake your calligraphy. Impress your friends :)
5. I loved reading along with the Nester’s travels to Uganda with Compassion International. So much so, in fact, that the kids picked out a little boy named John who we’re now going to sponsor.
6. And, finally, the fun new app that has made an appearance on almost every blog on my reader this past week. But, in case you’re one of the few who read only my blog (hi Mom and Dad!), then you should check out Waterlogue. It’s $2.99 and turns your every day photos into beautiful watercolor paintings. The possibilities!
I had to come back and see what items 3-6 were, I spent an hour reading through flowerpatch farm girl’s blog. What a remarkable, lovely life she leads.
I Love the Saturday 6 posts. They always inspire me with new ideas. What a cute little boy you are going to sponsor!
I love your blog!!! It’s not just for mom and dad. It’s for all your BFFs on the inter webs too! And I’m totally hooked on Waterlogue.
I adore FlowerpatchFarmgirl she is my favorite blog to read. I knew it was her daughters bedroom as soon as I saw it! I feel like her posts are a daily devotional…
I’ve never seen that app! Thanks !
I love your blog and am an avid reader. I am certain you had no ill will, but the “kids picked out” language about John is troubling. It reads as if they picked out a puppy or a cereal at the grocery store. It just did not sit well with me, so I wanted to comment.
Hi Nicolle, I think you’re reading too much into it. I showed them pictures of the Nester’s trip so they could see the environment these kids live in and know not everyone is as blessed as they/we are. Then, we looked through the site at the different kids’ profiles waiting to be sponsored and I let them have the final decision. It was important to me that they felt involved in the process so they would participate in the letter writing during our sponsorship. The important thing to focus on here is that there are many kids waiting to be sponsored, not my wording. I don’t often respond to negative comments, but perspective is pretty important here.
Emily,
As a foster parent and a sponsor of many children, I realize the importance and magnitude of what you and your family are committing to. My intent was not to be negative, I was simply pointing out that the wording sounded, to me,
It was a personal observation and it is unfortunate that it was received as negative, as that was definitely not my intent.
Nicolle
Damn…these kind of post lead me down the rabbit hole for sure….I think I stared it 2 days ago and am finally getting back to comment!
