I thought I’d pass along a blog I recently found and added to my reader. Martha Leone paints furniture of all styles, giving careful attention to detail, and she’s giving me all kinds of inspiration for a few pieces I currently have sitting in my garage. The trick to successfully transforming furniture is more than just technique (which I’m still working on acquiring). I think it’s just as important to be able to study a particular piece and know what parts and how it should be painted. It’s a battle between knowing when to show restraint and just going for it. Martha is good at that.
On her blog, she often shares her process and the products used for achieving the look, like with this buffet before and after:

These are great. After I had my son, I stayed home for a few years and that is what I did while my son napped. Paint and resale furniture. I have since been back to work and miss those days. I hardly ever have time for that now. Loved looking at her work. Thanks for sharing.
I’m always looking for painted furniture inspiration. Thanks!
I love the last dresser you posted. I love to paint furniture and my husband laughs at me because I will sometimes let a piece sit for months before I paint it, I feel like I have to let it tell me what it wants, ok not really but it does sometimes takes me awhile before I decide what I want to do to it!! Sorta like decorating a house I guess! Thanks for the new read!!
I just checked out her web site and she’s truly an artist. I have a ReStore buffet I want to paint dark green, and a Goodwill tray I’m planning on painting a deep coral color and finish off with some high gloss poly. Can’t wait to get started now! Thanks for sharing your inspiration.
Such creativity! I love the first 2 pieces, great for inspiration.
I love the graphic punch of Martha’s designs!
Painting furniture is such a great affordable way to make things your own! Great inspiration!
