This image would probably have to be one of my all-time favorite bookcase shots. And, you know how much I love a good bookcase. The look is so custom, but could easily be recreated by stacking four IKEA Expedit shelves.
Beautiful look without the price tag of built-ins. And, that mirror hanging on the front totally makes you forget it’s not all one big piece. I’m filing this one away to think about when we finally start decorating our den. . .
Have a great weekend.
Yeah…those are pretty cool….I am starting to like styling bookcases:)
So, so smart!
Those actually ARE Ikea bookcases! Can you believe it!? She used brackets to secure the two sets together and to the walls. I have had these pages ripped out from Better Homes & Gardens for ages. One of my all time favorites.
If I remember correctly, they had moved into a home with a huge two story living room, and she had no idea what to do with the space. When she finally decided on bookcases, a custom unit wasn’t in the budget, so she got creative.
I remember that room in BH&G, too, but can’t find the issue now… Anybody remember which one?
It’s one of my first and favorite Ikea pins and was my inspiration to hang my sunburst mirror on my built-ins (Joni Webb, too) which reminds me still need attention after Christmas! Happy weekend, Emily!
I’ve always loved that bookcase! The mirror is amazing, too.
I have the same image pinned. Brilliant. Hanging the mirror in front really finishes it off!
That’s one of my all time favorites too. Happy weekend!
Genius! I never would’ve guessed those are Ikea.
What a brilliant idea! I am bound and determined to own a set of tall bookshelves and a library ladder someday – and maybe this is how I can make that dream a reality in my very own home! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love, love, love Ikea DIYs
I remember poring over that article in BH&G. Loved every bit of her space, and her bedroom is fabulous too!
IKEA is fabulous. Over the years we have done wonders with shelves and cabinetry!
I have this image saved in an old BHG magazine and I believe the owner of this home said it was stacked ikea expedit book cases…maybe I’m wrong but either way, I love this room and love the eclectic way she decorated it. I love the mirror on the bookcases too!
I love this too so good!
Love the bookcases but have to admit that I am not a fan of stuff hung on the front of the cases. Pictures, mirrors, whatever. Just looks weird to me. These bookcases would look SO much more expensive without the mirror.
