Local Shopping: Catawba River Antique Mall

January 15, 2014

This post is mostly for my local (Charlotte-area) readers, but hopefully the rest of you will enjoy the pictures. I just wanted to make sure you knew about a new spot to shop that opened up several months ago in my town. Believe it or not, I just visited it for the first time a couple of weeks ago (it requires strategic planning to leave my house—alone).  Catawba River Antique Mall is located in an old revamped mill just outside of downtown Belmont, NC. It’s big—and still growing. I snapped pictures of some pieces that caught my eye to give you a feel for what you’ll find there.

I’ll take the antlers, wooden bowl, and green pillows please. What a fun spot!

Cool – what were the prices like, in general? Is this place full of ‘booths’ that individual sellers maintain, or is it all one owner? I visit Charlotte regularly and would like to check it out!

I would say the prices are pretty in line with the Depot. (Have you been there?) There were a few booths that I thought were a little overpriced, but of course, had all of the stuff I liked best :)

I’ll have to check it out. I love antiquing but hate when the people think their glass bottle from 1926 is worth $500. I feel like that is what happens to me whenever I go. My sister has a place in Concord she goes to a lot that she loves. I can’t remember the name of it, you may have even mentioned it already.

I love it when you share local places like this; I’m not familiar with the Depot either, but will check it out. I’d like more local places that you frequently shop at for fabric, furniture or home décor if you ever want to do a post about that!

Thanks for the tip! I usually head to The Depot at Gibson Mill in Concord so having a “new” place to shop for fun antiques is great! I’m on the hunt for a big tobacco basket so perhaps there is one there for me…..

The pillows were made by myself and daughter, Laura maultsby. We do custom work for pillows. We just went into catawba and love the mill. We are also in Charlotte at Cotswold marketplace, post and gray and slate. I enjoy your blog. Judy
