I showed you the rest of our decorations last week but also wanted to show you our tree.
This was the first year that we didn’t get a real one, and I have to admit that there’s something to be said for a pre-lit, put-up-in-ten-minutes tree. (This was the one we got from The Home Depot last year.)
I’ve always thought a real tree messed with our allergies, but never wanted to give up the smell. So, I used these Scentsicles this year instead. They’re just little pine-scented sticks that you can hang right on the tree.
I started out decorating with all green, white and gold ornaments, and then let the kids come in and hang the ones they’ve made.
One of my favorites continues to be this ornament the kids made with their babysitter a couple of years ago where they all guessed the sex of the twins the Christmas before they were born.
Beautiful! Love the white stars.
I should try that scent stuff! We’ve never gotten a real tree and this year we swore up and down we would…and instead picked up a $20 unlit tree from Target. Boooo!!!
I love your tree, and I also have an artificial one. I really love a real one. It just doesn’t feel like Christmas without a real tree. The smell, the natural look. Oh well. maybe next year. I really don’t even feel like decorating it. Just to fake..
Hey Tania, Try a real tree next year. You will Heart it!
How did you like the tree you got from Joss and Main? I’ve been waiting to see how it looks in real life!
I like it. I actually ended up using it on our front porch but here’s a look at it inside the house:

We also had a real Christmas tree this year. We got it from home depot for about $30 bucks. We had to buy a small one because our basement ceiling is low. It is definitely a trip. There are lots of tree leaves on the floor so we put a white cloth underneath it.
Emily…..I am amazed you can get Christmas decor up with all you have to do! Impressed:) The tree is beautiful….and putting on the sent sticks is brilliant!
The last time I bought a real tree it cost $50 from a tree farm around 15 years ago. Gone are the days of pushing the tree out the front door in a giant sized bag and still finding needles in July. I use a pre lit artificial one now. I do miss the smell of real pine but in retrospect the smell would dissipate in a couple of days anyway.
Lovely tree. I went per-lit artificial last year when we moved to Germany. (The live ones look a little Charlie Brown, not blue spruce.) I have to say it is nice not to have all the mess. I will have to see if the Scentsicles are available online, where did you buy them? If not I guess a nice candle would work.
