Sometimes, you just have to work with what you’ve got. And, I’ve got ferns. Lots and lots of ferns.
Removing the wallpaper in our laundry room is on my to-do list, but it’s not happening this year. Or next year. Or possibly until the twins go to college. . . But, for now, I spend a lot of my time in there and wanted to make it a little happier place to be.
Although I might not fall completely in love with our laundry room until I redecorate it, I did make some quick—and inexpensive—updates recently that made it a little cuter and more functional in the meantime. Because even if you can’t do a complete redesign, I believe a few small changes can at least give you a better attitude. . . So, here’s what did:
(My mom hand-lettered one of my favorite quotes for me.)
These Martha Stewart fabric bins from The Home Depot are great for catching clutter (and come in lots of colors).
Glass canisters and cute bottles are a fun storage option for bleach, fabric softener, etc.
Now, even my laundry room has a little “ambience.”
(The tray is the lid from a laundry hamper I found at a yard sale.)
Whether your laundry room project is big or small, Tide, The Home Depot, and Maytag have all teamed up for the #BrilliantHEClean campaign. There’s also a great giveaway for my readers! One of you will win a $500 gift card to The Home Depot and Tide samples. (Not a bad start to making your own laundry room a little happier.)
*******THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED*******
And, the winner is…
Thanks to P&G and The Home Depot for partnering with me to bring you this giveaway.
I would add closed shelving to my laundry room, instead of the open wire shelving we have now!
We’re slowly trying to redo the laundry room/bathroom combo, but some paint or a flat top on top of the washer/dryer is next on the list!
I need shelves, cabinets and a new paint job in my laundry room!
I would love to add pretty baskets and bins to the shelves for organization.
I’d like to build a shelving unit to house our hampers, that’s also deep enough to fold clothes on top of. This gift card would really go a long way in that effort ;) Thanks for the giveaway!
I’d like to have a folding table and more organizational shelving for supplies !! Also, a fresh coat of paint!!
I have no laundry room, so ANYTHING would be helpful!! :)
I woudl love to have more & better shelving — or cabinets to hide the supplies!
I would add a counter top over my washer and dryer.
I would make more use of my space by adding shelves and an expandable ironing board area.
I would like to add pretty shelf paper like you did – such an easy step, but a huge visual impact!
Oh Emily, where do I start?!!? I have lived in my house for 8 years and haven’t touched my laundry room b/c I’ve been so busy with the rest of the house– but my laundry room is HORRID. I would use change EVERYTHING, but probably first on my list would be the flooring. Right now, it’s curling/dirty/cut (don’t ask) linolieum. And our cat litter box is in this room, so you can imagine with CUT linolieum how it gets in every crevice. HORRID I tell you! I would put this $500 to amazing use!:)
Some new shelving that I can actually reach!
I need a complete Reno in my laundry room which also serves as my pantry. All I have in there now is wire shelves so this would go a long way!!
Oooh – I may try that cork back splash idea! We have the all-in-one linoleum counter to back splash right now, and it drives me crazy!
I would add some shelving – oh the shelving/organization/color. Our laundry room is in the corner of our basement, but I keep thinking it needs a special tough so it isn’t just the dreary boring place to do one of my least favorite chores. :-)
I would definitely have a sink
We have a great sized laundry room but NO storage! I’d add lockers!
I’d love a shelf over my washing machine so things stop falling off of it!
demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com
I would love to update the cabinets and storage in my laundry room. Thank you!
Love the changes. I would love to add space to fold our clothes over the washer and dryer, as our laundry room is so tiny you have to walk out of it to change your mind!
I would paint my shelving! I love your ideas!!
I would LOOOVE one of those storage bins that go beneath a dryer. Yes please.
I’d love to make our washer and dryer more built in. We have very little storage but our laundry room is a good size.
Storage! Stuff is all over the place.
I love how just the simple changes you made, make such a huge difference! I need to invest in some baskets and “pretty jars” for all those not so much fun items associated with laundry!
I’d definitely install some nice shelving above our washer/dryer (which are sadly in our garage) to make it feel more like a “room”. Love the cork elements you used!
call me crazy but I kind of like the wallpaper! I am so glad we got to meet! Wish we could have had more time to chat!– next time!!
I definitely need another shelf or two, and one of those wall things that holds mops and brooms for starters.
I would love to put a backsplash against my laundry sink to pretty it up and to “catch” all the messy splashes from my kids’ paintbrushes!
I would love to have built in shelving for holding laundry baskets!
Our washer and dryer are in the garage, and I am struggling to find a way to transform it into a nice laundry room. I would love to add upper cabinets to the blank wall, create extra storage space beside the washer and dryer, and just make the space prettier to look at. I love all the pretty laundry rooms I see, but I worry about how quickly the space would get dirty in the garage.
I’d love some concealed storage in my laundry room. A new laundry sink wouldn’t be bad either… :-)
I would love a place to hang clothes that I can’t toss in the dryer…right now they end up hanging on my shower rod
Purging the shelves of all the stuff that is no longer used or needed would really help my laundry room.
where do i start?!?! we have a washer and dryer in the basement…. in the icky unfinished gross cement floor cinder block wall basement….. oh and the old laundry sink is awful, so i think i might start there.
where do i start?!?! we have a washer and dryer in the basement…. in the icky unfinished gross cement floor cinder block wall basement….. oh and the old laundry sink is awful, so i think i might start there.
First things first, I want to paint the walls! Right now they’re peach. Not a pretty peach, a pukey peach. blech! Next would be to replace the boob light! It is not a happy place right now! ha!
I would like to make a oversized bulletin board for fun family photos and school work. It would make the room so much happier to be in.
I want to redo my laundry room to take advantage of the tall ceilings
I would like to HAVE a laundry room. Right now our washer and dryer are in the garage. And it gets HOT out there in the summer in Texas!
I would love to remove the cabinets and replace them with open shelving! Thank you Emily for this giveaway! It would make the least happy room in my house more fun to be in. :-)
Front-loaders!!! I’ve wanted them for, like, EVER but my old top loader just.wont.die so I can’t justify replacing them. But if I had a $500 GC, I would totally do it!
I would like to redo my laundry room by moving it up to the main floor from our basement, which would involve reinforcing floors in our currently unused (or rather, ill-used) sun porch. $500 would definitely help!
I would like more shelves for storage!
I’ve been doing the same thing to our laundry room. It isn’t large at all but by adding a rug and a few pieces of art, I don’t mind being in there (as much) :)
It looks so good! I’d love to change our normal door to one with glass and frost it. I think it would change the feel of the room and its the first thing you see when you come in the house. But there’s plenty of other things to do in there!!
Like a lot.
I would love to have a drying rack that could fold against the wall when not in use. Right now I use my banister along the top of my stairwell.
We are moving into a new house and desperately need a new washer/dryer and I can’t wait to rip out the ugly cabinets and put nice open shelves up! Maybe some pretty wallpaper or paint too.

I would like to put a drying rack in my laundry room. And paint the walls!
Love that you added the cork backsplash! It really helps break up the repetitiveness of the wallpaper. We currently have a tiny laundry closet, so not much room to change, but I’d paint it a bold color and add a few shelves and hooks.
I would Love to add some color and a heated drying rack or at least a “pull down from the wall” drying rack!
I would really like to add a wooden countertop to my washer and dryer (its in the hallway) to add space for folding etc since I can’t move the walls! A new runner or light couldn’t hurt either :)
I need a drying rack PRONTO! And to do something with the nasty linoleum carpet that has been there FOREVER.
I would add cabinets!
You may have ferns but I my laundry room is still partying in 1999. I started a redo on half but would love to finish the rest with cabinets and deco on the walls.
great job!
Would love to add a pedestal under my washer/dryer as well as some cabinets! Right now we just have a small room with no storage space!
Great give-away! I’d love to change my entire laundry room, as it’s pretty gross. But mostly, I’d love a new washer and dryer. Ours are ancient!
I would add cabinets above, and drawers on the side.
I entered the comment without my name. Bernadette and email is biturriria@hotmail.com
I would LOVE to paint the inside of my laundry space. Fingers crossed! :-)
Your small changes really made a big difference. It looks great :) I’d get a durable rug for in front of my washer/dryer and paint the area around it so it doesn’t look so basement-y.
I would LOVE to update my little laundry closet, it is just so depressing right now… and has been for the last 6 years! I would love to use a stencil to give the walls a little pattern and maybe add a lamp and a few cute shelves. Pretty much anything to give it a little pick-me-up :)
I would change the counter top and maybe add a few shelves!
I would love to convert the recycle station in our laundry room into a catch-the-clutter/mud room station. I need to add cork boards (just like you!), hooks for backpacks, etc. What a great give away to get started!
I’d love to get a countertop over my washer/dryer. I hate when things fall behind them because I’m too lazy to fish them out.
I’d love to get a countertop over my washer/dryer. I hate when things fall behind them because I’m too lazy to fish them out.
I’m lucky enough to have a second floor laundry, but it is legitimately a closet. I would take out the impractical wire shelves and add cabinets.
I would love to paint and accesorize, so that I won’t find laundry as a daunting task.
A drying rack – we air dry 50% of our laundry as we are super tall and the dryer has this magical way of making all of our pants and sleeves a little too short.
I would add a folding counter over my washer and dryer as well as changing out the wire shelves.
Your quick update is adorable! The cork backsplash gives me an idea for my desk! Thanks!
My laundry room is boring and needs some color! I need MORE storage and creative organization ideas! A creative (hideaway) ironing board for those random times I need to iron, would be great!
I would love to create an ambiance in my laundry room which is right now just an empty space shared with our furnace & water tank!!!
I too have goo on a shelf in my laundary room. I would love a place to hide the starch, bleach and laundry detergent as well as adding better lighting.
My laundry room needs a complete makeover! I would begin with paint. Lucy (learnold@bellsouth.net)
Oh, I have been dying to update my washer/dryer. I have a hand-me-down, been-abused-for-ten-years, pervasively stinky set from my in-laws. I appreciate the savings, but it’s time to move on. My laundry room also has an awkward layout so a stackable unit from Home Depot would be PERRRRRFECT. (In an ideal world, I’d add cabinets, too!)
I would remove the ugly wire shelves and put in cabinets.
I would love to clean up the floors.. our laundry in the basement is just not doing it for me. I’d love to drop a piece of clothing and not feel its dirty.. :)
We would start with hookups to have a laundry room inside – as opposed to the current situation of the laundry being outside in the garage!
I would love to paint my laundry room and add cabinetry above my washer and dryer
I would like to actually have a laundry room instead of it being in the garage. In the meantime, I would like to add shelving above the washer and enclose the adjacent water heater to make it look better. Thanks for the opportunity!
Get rid of clutter, and someday replace the washer and dryer. They are hand me downs, and at least 20 years old. They still work, but I look forward to the day they break so we can get new ones.
Paint and add cabinets – oh and organize too :) Hope I win :) :)
I would put a window in it! So dark. Or more realistically, some more lighting.
I just moved into a new house and my laundry closet is bare bones right now. Since its just a closet I’m hoping to build a folding table over my front loaders and add more shelving and possibly a cupboard!
We have a high ceiling in our laundry room so I’d like to add a shelf on top of the door, a usually unused space great for extra storage.
I have nicknamed my laundry room, “the dungeon”, though I think a little paint and some tweaking with the 1950’s flooring may make it bearable.
Thanks for the inspiration!
I would love to add cabinets or some type of better shelving system to my laundry room!
I would love to organize my detergents, bleach and supplies for functionality but also looks. I love the idea of putting everything in glass bins with simple labels!
– Jaime
Would love to paint our laundry room – after I cleaned up the layers and layers of dust/lint first of course!

I have tons of cabinets in my utility room, but they need way more organization than I am capable of. Ha Ha!! I also need a drying rack!! When I do laundry all my doors are covered in our clothes!
I would love to have a new washer. I just repainted and did some organizing with baskets, but I would love to have a new washer.
The water hook-up for my washer is up high and visible. It’s the first thing I see when I walk in the door and I hate it! I’d like to either move it entirely or think of some way to camouflage it.
I’d love a drying rack and some cabinets, but I’d really like to add color! With 5 people I’m in the laundry area quite a bit! I’d like to make it “pretty”
Well my laundry rom is a nook in our garage, eeek! So there is a lot that could be done. But some organization and paint would go a long way :) And with a baby on the way I guess I need to get used to spending lots of time our there.

I’d love to win this! Our laundry room is large but has so much wasted space that really needs to be used properly. Plenty of room — if I knew what to do with it!
I would love a way to separate the laundry area from the bathroom area?!
I would love to make ours bigger! We have a large pantry behind our laundry room; I would love to tear down the wall so we could push the washer and drier back into that space to give us more room for storing laundry baskets, etc. Easier said that done, so in the meantime we’ll likely add some shelves and a fresh coat of paint. Thanks for the great giveaway!
I’d love to upgrade the lighting in my laundry room!
My laundry room is so bad I can’t even think of a way to change it or make it better. That must mean I need help, big time. Thanks for the chance to get that help. :)
My laundry room is so bad I can’t even think of a way to change it or make it better. That must mean I need help, big time. Thanks for the chance to get that help. :)
I would love to have a place to hang supplies on a shelf and also maybe even a shelf for laundry basket sorting :)
I really need a couter over the washer and dryer to make it a little neater! :-)
I would like to paint my laundry room cabinets white, paint the walls a soft relaxing color, add a new light fixture, and put a cute patterned roman over my window. Oh the projects!
This comment has been removed by the author.
mine is upstairs which is great but it is in a closet in the hall bath which is not so great…. I need to re-do add some storage above since it is such a small space
I would like to change the light and paint the cabinets a light color. It is one dark place to be in :D
I love that cork you added to the backsplash…great idea. My laundry room needs more hanging areas for wet clothes that don’t go into the dryer!
I really need some additional shelving. Our laundry closet is quickly becoming over run with extra soap, bathroom tissue, paper towels, and other random bulk store purchases. These things get stacked and balanced until you wonder if you’ll be buried the next time you open the doors! I have wanted to add some cabinets or just some deeper shelves for months.
Cute changes! I would love to add a counter to the top of my front-loaders.
Totally add a tankless, hot-water heater for both energy and space savings!
I would have a laundry room. Currently, my laundry is just a small space in the unfinished basement. The washer and dryer are lined up against the wall and that is it. Anything would be an improvement.
New paint for sure. We have an entire half wall that is patched from a exploratory search to see if we could move the washer. We could not. :( Would love to know what Jenny would suggest for my space. It’s dark, cramped and very blah feeling.
There are SO many things my laundry room needs, but my #1 thing to change is the horrible fluorescent light!
While our current organization set-up is perfect, our washer has started to loose its gusto and will need to be replaced soon. We’d love to buy a new set that is more energy efficient!
I’d love to remove the random toilet (yes, toilet!) that’s hiding between my dryer and the wall. We just bought the house and have no idea how a toilet came to be placed in the laundry room but we’d sure love to remove it!
I would love to have a more organized laundry room. I am struggling to come up with how to best utilize high shelves over my washer and dryer on pedestals – it is too hard to reach the stuff on those shelves, so I don’t keep anything there.
My laundry room is really the whole scary basement . . . .so better lighting and a folding table would be a great start. Thanks for the giveawway chance. Cheers – CT
My laundry room needs a complete redo, but would settle for new paint and shelving. Debra chedeb5353@hotmail.com
I would have the plumbing and electrical for the washer and dryer lowered, add a pocket door to the kitchen, repair the drywall from a plumbing re-route, change out the light fixture and paint the cabinets and walls. mdewing@sbcglobal.net
Michelle
Our laundry room is in the garage….would love to establish a place to hang clothes that I still “feel” is clean.
Stephanie

My laundry room is basically a small closet with a top and bottom washer and dryer. There is very little storage so my next project is to add wooden shelving to store the detergent and other laundry necessities.
Paint, organize, de-clutter. I need it way more functional than it currently is.
I would repair the walls (moisture damage) in my 75 year old basement and then add a counter for folding and cabinets for storage
I need some more shelves so I can organize my laundry products, rather than have them sit on top of the washing machine.
love your updates. small updates mean big changes. i’d love to add some bins for storage too!
new flooring and pretty curtains would help
pryfamily5@gmail.com
I would like a folding area in the laundry room.
I need more cabinets to finish out the storage in our laundry room. We are part way finished but are waiting until we have more cash to finish it out! I also need something to hang clothes on to dry. Holly Law
bhc-law(at)juno(dot)com
I would stack my washer and dryer, and add a sink! Our laundry “room” is a large closet on the fourth floor, which does not have a bathroom. I HATE not having a sink handy for handwashing or to help clean up spills!
I would add storage, paint, and get fun bins to add some organization!
Wow, that’s such a simple yet impactful change! So awesome!
Right now, the storage space in our laundry room is pretty haphazard and does not make sense, so rearranging that would be my top priority.
I would love to get rid of the carpet and replace it with tile :)
My laundry room needs a new coat of paint and I’d love a pretty new light fixture.
I would add a shelf instead of the wire shelves I have now. Also maybe some paint? Thanks for the opportunity!
Oh my gosh, you have no idea how much this would help my laundry room!! I need to paint or replace the cabinets, paint the walls, change the light fixture and remove an old door jamb. Just a few things… ;-)
So happy to have met you finally at Haven, Emily! Thank you for hosting!
xo Heidi

Paint and a new light fixture would do wonders! (And someone to declutter all the junk and motivate me to have a garage sale)
I’d love for it to be bigger, but that’s not very realistic. A stacked washer & dryer might help, though, and we could definitely use new ones!
I would love to add the cork board backsplash and open shelving instead of the closed cabinets. I LOVE to put things into containers, so detergent in a pretty glass bowl is a no brainer! Can’t wait to make over my laundry room!
I’d love to add shelves – all my detergent and such is in a precarious stack in front of the washer and I have to move it to actually wash clothes. I’d also love to get a new latch so the doors closes properly.
Your changes look great!
Stephanie

I am planning to add a white tile floor and a folding station complete with baskets for each family member. I am also hoping to relocate it down to the lower level of our home.
I would love to add a sink! Having a place to soak stains would be sooo nice!
I would love to add a sink! Having a place to soak stains would be sooo nice!
We added wainscoting and hooks to our laundry room because it is the backpack drop off point. We also switched out the door to the frosted glass one that says laundry room on it from Home Depot. Our laundry room is in desperate need of paint! The previous owners didn’t move the washer and dryer before they painted. I am the only one who notices, but it drives me crazy!
I would love to add a sink, functional shelves and a fun paint color to liven up the room.
I need to paint and add some personality to our laundry room. I’m also considering painting the linoleum floor :/
I would love a counter top over my washer and dryer, more shelving & a fun paint color!
I’d love to get the washer and dryer out of our tiny kitchen and into an actual laundry room ;) I can work with anything at that point. (Love, love, love that hand-lettered quote and the cork back splash – so clever!)
EVERYTHING! I mostly need to get organized in there, it seems to be where everyone drops their junk!
I would add cabinet along with open shelves. I would love to do a wall stenciled and a grouping of photos of the kiddos. Oh and a new washer and dryer would be nice too.
I would love to have a counter top over the washer/dryer, closed shelving and a drying rack.
I’d like to improve my “system.” I’ve had three plastic laundry baskets lined up on the floor of my laundry room for the past 20 years. I guess it works, but it’s not attractive and lint and dust accumulate behind and between them – yuck! Loved your freshening!
I could use new cabinets. I bought mine from craigslist and they are not holding up too well.
I thought my answer was “finish painting it” but now that I’ve seen yours, it’s definitely “get some cute baskets to look organized”! lol
My washer and dryer are in my kitchen. We recently remodeled the kitchen due to a dishwasher leak and there wasn’t another room for them; so they stayed in the kitchen. I need to add a curtain to hide them and pretty up the walls over them with some storage pieces. Would LOVE the $500 gift card!
I would love to spruce up my laundry room!! Anything to make that dreaded chore a little more pleasant :) New floors, paint and some cabinets would make the (teeny-tiny) room a much more lovely space!!
Thank you!
Ann
I am moving into my first home on August 24th! The laundry room needs some shelving and storage space, and this would be the perfect “housewarming” gift! :) Thanks!
We just moved into a new house and our first order of business is to move the laundry room upstairs. So we have SOOOO much to do. Cabinents/backsplash/countertops…
I would love to redo the floors in my laundry room. They need a major update!
Add a sink and folding table
My laundry room needs a lot, but to start off a fresh coat of paint would be a welcomed change!
It’s a simple thing, but I’d love to have some sort of permanent rod situation for clothes that need to be hung up right out of the dryer. Ok, and maybe some paint on the walls. And maybe a bit of zhushing up the window I have. So maybe not so simple after all :).
My laundry room is in the unfinished portion of our basement – so it needs A LOT of work. Where to even begin…
I’d love to have a larger laundry room. We just have a closet.
I need to replace the small vanity with a utility sink.
I would replace the current wire shelving with closed cabinets or new shelving OR even just paint the current wire shelving a nice bright color.
I would replace my washer and put upper cabinets in place of my messy open shelves.
I’d like to paint the walls and stack my washer/dryer. Part of the shelving above the washer has to be cut out for that to happen though.
I would definitely add some shelving, paint, build a bench…our laundry room is also our mudroom and a catch all for backpack, shoes, etc! Lots to do and not enough hours in the day to do it!
I would love to have a rack to hang delicates to dry and store shirts that have or need to be ironed :)
Love the cork board back wall! Thinking I need to do that in my laundry room! Mine just needs more personalization!
My laundry is actually in my garage, which is a challenge. I’d like to update the shelves around it and add a counter to have a clean place to sort. A proper laundry room seems so luxurious and yours looks great!!
I would love to get a built in dry rack that I can hang on the wall and an ironing board that can mount to the door and a iron holder. Or maybe just a front loading washing machine?!?! Thanks!
Add a sink!
Oh my. My laundry room needs serious organization and shelves. The Martha Stewart bins would be fabulous!

I just moved into my FIRST HOME (wahoo!) this past month. My laundry room is stark white with that ugly cheap carpeting that you see in schools… who puts carpet in a laundry room? Not this girl. I would love to rip that out and replace it with tile and then paint a fun color to brighten up the mood! :)

I desperately need some sort of fold-down or retractable drying racks :-)

I’d like to change the color of the walls in my laundry room.
Shelves and storage are a must for me. My laundry is in my basement and its not a separate room, so I want to create a space that seems separate.
I’m in serious need of some organization in my laundry room! I’d love some great baskets, bins, and other storage items!
I need shelves and a counter top, I’ve lost one too many socks over the back of my dryer!!
i’d like to get high efficiency appliances!
I would start with the Flooring, then add a built in ironing shelf and add some baskets to my shelf that would be wonderful!!!:)
I am attempting to brighten my dark builder beige all over home and the laundry room would be a lovely spot to brighten! New paint, lovely tile and some storage could help liven up the cave!
I’d love to just hire a laundry maid to hang out in there and do all my chores ;) but since that isn’t happening, I would love to make it a little more functional for me by adding some shelves and a folding table.
I would love to organize using the cabinets we have in a more cohesive and consistent way. Nice updates! xo
I’d love to have a hamper instead of the floor. Baskets to put folded clothes in. Beautiful art to look at. I have twin boys so something to shake the items out of the pockets :)
Some upper cabinets and a counter over my washer/dryer. Right now it’s just a boxy room with the two appliances in it! :)
I would love to add more shelves and closed door storage.
I’d love to have a hamper instead of the floor. Baskets to put folded clothes in. Beautiful art to look at. I have twin boys so something to shake the items out of the pockets :)

I need to repaint that room badly and just put some “personality” into it so its not such a dreadful room to be in. :)
My washer and dryer are in the garage, so not much I can do to spruce it up. However, I would love to have a big cabinet to store all the laundry clutter. Thanks!
I would like to move the whole thing to my garage. My laundry room is a small room that is a pass through to my room over the garage (the only stairs in the house) it is such a pain to be doing laundry and have kids walking back and forth past you closing the dryer to get through while you’re loading it!
I would love to have a laundry room makeover with better storage and some open shelving.
Love this post, Emily! Such simple ideas and “working with what you’ve got” in that fern wallpaper. The cork idea is brilliant since it breaks up the wallpaper and serves a function so you can have some family pics up.
– Lora @ Craftivity Designs
My laundry is in the basement but I would love to add some hampers, shelves, and a large storage cabinet. It would be nice to add a pretty rug too. Thanks for the giveaway!
I hadn’t noticed the giveaway when I commented before :) My laundry room needs some open shelving!
– Lora @ Craftivity Designs
Recently moved into our forever home, and this room needs some life in a sea of beige. Paint, light fixture, rug, sink faucet and possibly some wallpaper. Laundry room dreaming:)
I definitely need a new layout to the laundry room, to create space and storage that makes the laundry room a place I want to be in longer than to just change loads. :)
I need an entire redo of our laundry room–new shelves, a cupboard built to hide our water heater, new paint and some fun accessories.
My laundry room needs loads of help but if I were to just give it a little lipstick, it would get the wallpaper removed and get some fresh paint.
We are in the process of buying our first house and would be so excited about the HD gift card! Our laundry area is in the garage and could use a whole lot of sprucing up! Some shelving for storage and organization would be my first buy. Excited about this giveaway!!

I would love to replace the yucky laminate flooring in my laundry room. Would make such a difference!
Love your cork board back splash! Great idea! I would love to add some baskets in my cabinets for organizing and maybe a drying rack. Some small decor pieces would help spruce up that space as well. nlevdan3 (at) yahoo (dot) com
Mine needs a lot of paint! The walls, the ceiling and the concrete floors.
I would love to add shelves, cute but practical storage, and even splurge on a new washer and dryer!!
My laundry is in the unfinished part of our basement. I would definitely get some concrete paint and brighten things up down there!
I would love to add a folding counter and a sink!
I’d start by stacking my washer and dryer, then add some new shelving to ake my space more user friendly!
I would like to paint my laundry room a fresh color and add a cheerful window treatment. What I’d really like to do is hire someone to come in and do the laundry. I have been a farmer’s wife for the past 32 years, and those barn/chore clothes with their farmish smells are starting to get on my nerves.
I would love to expand my laundry room (making it feel bigger) by getting different doors and adding some paint!
Our laundry room is one long hallway… I would love to add some cabinets above the washer/dryer and some storage shelves/folding counters etc along the long wall.
I’d love to have a new sink and cabinets!
No laundry room for us – the washer and dryer are both in our unfinished, cob-webby basement! I’d love to spruce it up with an indoor/outdoor rug, table and shelving. Thanks for the chance to win this great prize!
Paint and new lighting might go a long way… better yet a laundry fairy Godmother. Such a thing exists right.
Jen K
I would love to get some storage bins that are easier to look at and keep things simple.
Reading about your shelf paper made me think that even that would help our laundry room right now. Thanks!
I love your little updates that made the room feel peaceful. I would paint the room and then add an organization center. A place where I could place to do lists
We have a “laundry closet” & the space is tight. I would love to add two cabinets with a shelf & clothes rod above my washer & dryer. I would also love to repaint it. J Norrell jbnorrell74@yahoo.com
Our laundry room is in the garage! SO – I would LOVE to fix up this little area and section it off a bit more. Some great shelving and paint could go a long way in this space! So excited about this giveaway! The cork board and lamp really added alot to your space!
i live in an apartment so not much can change but I would love to put a rug and art in there :)
I would love to add a sink to our laundry room. No more rinsing stuff out in the powder room sink.
I need some cabinets to hide all the crud that accumulates in there! It’s directly off the garage so it’s a mud room/laundry room…. jack of all trades and master of none kind of place :)
I’d remove the stinky dog smell from the previous owners! ;)
I would start with paint, white is just to boring for a laundry room.
Awgirl
I want to put cabinets above my washer and dryer so I can have things there and not see them looking all cluttery.
I would definitely remove the flower wallpaper. We just moved into a new home and the laundry is shared with the downstairs bath. It is covered floor to ceiling with flowered wallpaper. Not my thing.
Those updates are really clever; looks GREAT! That wallpaper doesn’t look bad (in pictures at least!); kinda reminds me of one of Lauren Liess’s fabrics. :) My laundry “room” is actually stackable machines tucked in the back of our (already tiny) powder room, so there isn’t any room for major updates- but I’d love to replace my cheap cheap shelf and kinda wobbly wall-mounted drying rack!
I am purchasing a home and will need to create a fabulous laundry room out of a very small space
Thank you for so much inspiration. racefankellen@verizon.net.
Kim
I would like to change knobs on my cabinets and add a clothes rod. Repaint the room and maybe have a new quote on the wall in vinyl.
We are VERY short on storage on our too-small condo (that we were supposed t be out of by now… but my laundry room is turning into a nasty storage space :( We just bought a new washer and dryer and I would love the excuse to get that room “put together”
If I could do one thing to update my laundry room (which is actually a laundry closet), it would be to repair and re-paint the water stained walls. Gross!
my laundry room could use a little of everything! its blah blah blah right now. new paint, new tile (currently its old and cracked and don’t get me started on the grout…) put up some shelves for storage, and a NEW LIGHT because it feels like a dungeon!
I’d like a new floor in my laundry room. It is currently a 70’s green laminate – yuck!
I could use more cabinets for storage and a new door for the closet that’s in there.
Well technically I don’t have a laundry room… it’s more like a laundry closet! But I could use some additional shelving and a drying rack.
I would build a pedestal under the laundry machines. That way I wouldn’t feel like I’m standing on my head to switch the clothes from the washer to the dryer.
Since I am finally getting ready to build our first home, I would need paint, cabinets, drying racks & wood for DIY pedastals!!!
Since I am finally getting ready to build our first home, I would need paint, cabinets, drying racks & wood for DIY pedastals!!!
My poor laundry room is also the work shop. I would love to wall an area off to have a real laundry room. I love your make over. Simple and very nice. Love the added touches.
I would love to add another shelf lower than the one installed so I can reach better, then add some organization to it with bins!
I’d love to find a house to buy so I no longer have to do laundry in the garage in our rental. It’s dirty out there no matter how much I clean up.
Ohhh Boy, where do I start! :-) I could really use some fabulous task lighting in my laundry area, closed shelving, organizational containers and a fold-able clothes drying rack…
– Karah
I have an ugly wire shelf on one side of the room, and NO shelves on the other side…I would like something pretty and functional on BOTH!
I would love shelving!
I can’t believe how much those relatively minor changes made your laundry room feel like a room! What a great idea with the cork! I am dying to move our laundry room upstairs where the bedrooms are and use the current laundry room as a pantry. A girl can dream!!
Hmmm ….where do I start? Maybe more efficient space?
I would move my laundry room from off my kitchen to upstairs in my master bedroom closet. I actually have enough room to do that. Seems like the washer and dryer should be where the clothes are!
I just might have to steal the cork board idea and I would love to add organizational baskets, a fun rug and light fixture.
I desperately need shelving and drying racks in my laundry room! Right now everything sits on top of the washer. Would love to win the gift card to make it a reality. Love your blog!
Shelves and organization!!! I’m in desperate need!!!
My Laundry Room triples as a room for laundry, crafts and homeschool. I would love to add a rug runner and artwork to personalize it more.
I live in an apartment so I have a laundry “closet”! I would love to have a house with a true laundry room. What a thrill! Someday…
I would add some shelves and baskets for additional storage!
My laundry room needs better light and some “wow” factor for sure!
I could really use some task lighting and tile!!
We have a pretty large laundry room….but no storage!! I would add just a few cabinets and a bar for hanging laundry.
I am going to re-do my kitchen pantry! Thanks for the give away!
I would add a counter top above the washer and dryer to help ” wash, dry, fold, repeat”!
I would add a counter top above the washer and dryer to help ” wash, dry, fold, repeat”!
Would love to add shelving I can reach. The builder shelf is so high it doesn’t get used and such a waste of space. Dreaming of cabinets for storage.
Michelle
Michelle.mcdevitt@gmail.com
I’d really like a counter over my washer and dryer. I feel like it would be so much more useful and would stop stuff from falling behind.
I need better shelving!!!
I would like to add a permanent counter top over the washer and dryer for a folding area.
I’d definitely like to add shelving and a place to fold clothes.
mami2jcn at gmail dot com
My laundry rooms needs some paint. Maybe storage, yes lots of storage and make it cute.
I would actually build a laundry room – a long time luxury dream of mine!
I need a new washer and dryer! Please, please :)
I need a new washer and dryer! Please, please :)
i actually am in the middle of adding Martha Stewart bead board wallpaper that I got from Home Depot! I will need to paint the wallpaper and the cabinets to make everything the same shade of white. A new light fixture might be a nice addition, and maybe some pull out drawers to be installed in the lower cabinets for shoes (my laundry room is also my mini-mudroom!) Thanks for the offer!
Some new lighting in my laundry space would be so nice!
Renee
mom2rek3@yahoo.com
My laundry room is very small but would love to replace the upper cabinets with new shelving to make it look more open as well as replace the old and dirty linoleum flooring.
Fantastic giveaway! I’d love to paint and ‘ cutesy up’ (make cute) my laundry room! If only I could add a sink too! Thanks for a chance at winning!
Kara
ii would paint the cabinets and add some of those cute containers you have! :) LOVE those!
I’d like to add some color and get a real rug, instead of the piece of carpeting that is in there now!
I would add surface table to the washer and dryer for folding clothes.
My laundry room needs a complete redo! It is dark and dingy. I’d love to paint, add an accent wall of wallpaper, and paint the concrete floors. :o)
I would love love love a new front loading washer and dryer!! Then I build a shelf on top of them or counter top and decorate it with the clear glass jars with chalk board labels. I have so many ideas!! :)
our laundry room is in our mechanical room and it is so cramped. I just want more space!!
i would love a) to finish painting it, and b) to replace the wire shelves with real shelves and/or cabinets. :)
Our laundry room needs to be completely rebuilt! It needs a new everything! no big deal!
My laundry “room” is in the middle of our basement. There are a MILLION things I need to do to improve that space, but I’d start by fixing the leak that appears every time my washer runs and getting a new cabinet to store all my stuff!
I’m so thankful to have a sink in my laundry room, but the counter top is a little drab…. I’d love to change out the counter top and “functionalize” some of the cabinets! LOVE your blog :) -erinhsnead@gmail.com
My laundry room is basically a crawl space in the basement accessed by a very steep and narrow staircase, so the biggest improvement beyond any decorating would be to actually have a laundry ROOM. But since, like you, I have to work with what I have, I would settle for a new dryer that doesn’t screech loudly and shake the house. :)
Love it! With a few key updates, you’ve transformed your laundry room into a stylish work area
Emily, you prove that little changes make big differences.
I would first get a new washer for my laundry room. Then get a room to make a laundry room from. Mine is a narrow hallway off the kitchen with no storage other than 2 tiny cabinets and coat room with nothing to hang coats. It’s more of an empty inset in the hall. I guess I’d do alot, but a new washer is tops on the list.
Cindy
I would ditch the wire shelving and add functional cabinets and a place to hang clothes.
I think just buying a rug (ok and maybe a lick of paint) would make a vast difference in my laundry room.

margueritecore [at] gmail [dot] com
Emily I loved getting to meet you at Haven – you are such a doll and so easy to talk to :) Ohmygosh if I could I would completely redo the laundry room – paint, floor, and of course, new appliances (ours are wayyy old) – but probably the most important thing would be to add a sink – they are so helpful in a laundry room. Thanks for the contest :)
I need new doors because the shutters with slats aren’t pretty. Also, a cabinet to replace the shelves would be wonderful. I like your ambience with just a few accesories; I’ll try that. Thanks so much!
I definitely need to paint it another color and storage is always an issue. Need lots of ways to store and hide things.
Actually I would love shelves and for it to be bigger.
I would love a cabinet / work space for our laundry room!
Since my washer/dryer are in an unfinished area of our basement – I’m not even sure if it qualifies as a ‘laundry room.’:) I’d start with adding some shelving!
I love your “work with what you’ve got” posts! You are much more productive than I am though! My laundry room is big and should also serve as an office, pantry, desk for kids…but it is lost in a sea of clutter and lack of organization to make all that work. I could definitely use help!
What one thing would I do to help my laundry closet …. change out and add more shelving.
A new washer!
Definitely some better shelving. We presently have the terrible wire stuff which isn’t the sturdiest in the world.
I would definitely paint our laundry room and add a shelf over the washer and dryer so random items won’t fall behind!
I love my laundry room but a friend had pics of her kids and all their artwork from over the years (over 25 years worth) and it was amazing! So, I am getting some of the girls artwork framed and some of my favorite pics of the girls together. I spend a lot of time in there and i want it to be a happy place!
New paint & some sort of air dryer system for our clothes (like a retractable clothes line).
My laundry room could use a lot more storage!
I wish my laundry room had a sink!
btw…I like the ferns! The cork was just enough to break them up…it looks great!
Thanks for the giveaway!
My laundry room is a closet with a stackable so I only have 6″ to work with. It would still be nice to have hooks and fabric shelving to store things.
The biggest improvement would be a fully functioning washer and dryer! After that, a fresh coat of paint.
There are really 2 things I. Wanting to do. I have a cute vintage poster waiti g to be framed, and I have the frame free frame just waiting to be painted. I also want to build a shelf over the washer and dryer. All I need now is the time!
Because of my knee issues, I would add a folding area with seats, so I do not have to stand and some storage for the baskets, add o wall drying rack.
Gosh, I wouldn’t mind you’re laundry room, now with it’s great updates! :)
We have little room as it’s also a pass through to the garage. I’d love to take down the one shelf that’s high above the washers and add cabinets or open shelving. I love what you did. Thanks for the inspiration!
I’d like a bar or rack to hang damp clothing. Shouldn’t all laundry closets have this?!
shannoncarman at yahoo dot com
I would add some storage! We don’t have any cabinets or any place to put… well, anything really. We desperately need some space to put things away! :)
I would move my washer into the laundry room beside the dryer. Right now the washer is next to the pantry in the kitchen.
We want to move our laundry room – turning our huge master bath into a laundry room and turning the laundry closet in our kitchen into a pantry.
Need to purchase washer and dryer. It could also use some updated :)
I could just use a laundry room. My washer and dryer are currently in a big open scary basement.
I would love to paint it, add shelves, and I would really love to add a small clothing line so we can get rid of our tree stand which somehow never seems to get put away and I’m constantly running into it!
Ours needs a complete overhaul, but first thing I’d do is remove our unused, bulky utility sink and add some shoe/backpack storage in its place!
My laundry room is so sad – flat white walls, unused space, orangey cabinets. First things first, it needs COLOR! Time to paint.
Our laundry room is about as tiny as yours and the walls are entirely covered in pegboard. If I could possibly remove the machines and still had it in me after that, I’d rip down the pegboard walls and the plastic mesh weirdness on the floor and do something light and bright.
Since our laundry room is very small and we have 4 kids, we are adding 72 square feet to expand our laundy room’s footprint. I would use this Home Depot GC to purchase organizing and decorating items for our new space.
My laundry room is functional but needs storage and organization. Plus maybe a pretty chandelier to make the space pretty, considering how much time I spend in there!
I would love to change the light fixture in my laundry room!
I’d love a way to make a linen closet in there and a hanging rail for swimsuits and drip dry items. Of course a little splash of happy color would be good too :). Love the cork in your redo!
My laundry room needs more functional storage and some prettiness!!
I’d love better lighting, its so dark and creepy in there :(
Hi Emily, I would add more shelves. Thanks!
Oh goodness. Just one thing? I could use some major help with shelving and organizing bins like you just got from Home Depot! Also love the glass jar for your detergent!!
I would really love it if the laundry room wasn’t in the basement and seriously the farthest distance of any laundry room I’ve had.
Pat
I would rip up the linoleum floor and put down ceramic!
I would love to add some organization to the storage areas in my laundry room!
Deanna
I need better shelves! Help please:-)
New cabinets!!!! New washer and dryer! Please!! More organized space!!
My laundry room needs a new floor and new shades for the 7 (yes, really) big windows! Talk about people seeing my “dirty laundry”!! Lori Lucas
I would like to replace my current washer so that it no longer sounds like a helicopter is taking off in my apartment when I do laundry. :)
I would like to add more lighting! It is like a scary horror movie dungeon down there!
My laundry room is the first room you see when you enter in the back door. I would have a pantry built, add trim and shelves to our cabinets to make them look like built ins and a new floor is needed.
Just one thing? ;) I really need to move the washer and dryer to the other side of the room and build a countertop over them for folding. And paint. And a light fixture. And shelves….. :)
Jess jdjmcc@aol.com
I’ve been working on making my laundry room a better space. Just need a cute area rug and some art!
I would love a new washer and dryer, as mine came from craigslist and work, well, when they want. Of course, after that, some cute new baskets for storage would be great too!
I don’t even have a laundry room. My washer and dryer is in my garage. Need I say more? Anything I would add would be an improvement! HELP!!!
We are moving into our new to us house soon and the laundry room is a mess. no appliances, bad layout, minimal storage – basically it needs an overhaul! thanks for hosting! liz
Like you…I need to strip wallpaper! Mine is a blue and white plaid pattern…ugh! I like the idea of the cork backsplash over the sink like yours…and every space (even the laundry room) deserves a little ambience. Nice Job!
I would love to build a little laundry sorting station and add a countertop to cover my washer/dryer. Ohh, and maybe a little runner as well :)
I would love to paint the laundry room and add a hanging rack somewhere. I’d also like to find some artwork to go in there to make it a little less boring as I spend a lot of time in there too!
Shelving! It seems everyone is saying that…
I want new shelves.
Wash and dryer. Maybe just a dryer. I hang our clothes outside (and inside) because it takes at least two runs on the dryer to dry clothes. Such a pain. At bare minimum, I’d like some shelving. And, maybe put a countertop over our set (hence a new set). I hide everything in there before people come over. Be careful when you open the doors!
kimkovacs76@gmail.com
I could use better storage, but I could REALLY use the $500 toward a washer that will spin without my having to manually turn the tub to get it started! :)
Thank’s so much for a chance to win! The first thing I’d do is get my ice maker fixed that’s housed in my laundry room! I miss that little guy! Other than that it’s just in need of an update and a little “ambiance” :)
Ooooo, if I could only make it bigger! ;). But I’d settle with some cute new accessories!
Ooooooo, if I could only make it bigger! ;). But I’d settle for some cute accessories!
I would love to add built in cupboards and some sort of system to sort/store dirty clothes while they wait their turn for the washer!!
I would replace the crappy builder standard wire shelve, and I would paint it fun bright color to make it a cheerful place and put up inspirational art on the walls.
I’d just be happy with some walls instead of the gray cinder block I have now!!
I would like to add some color and personality to my very beige laundry room!
Unfortunately, I have a very tiny pass-thru laundry space. I would love to enlarge the whole space a little.
Cyndi T.
A great washer and dryer would go miles to improving the laundry room :) Barring that, some storage space and laundry folding space would be great too :)
anastasia2013@gmail.com
I would like to start by removing the furnace and hot water heater from the room, but since I can’t I would love to add shelving.
I’ve taken down our wallpaper and painted, but it needs shelves in a bad way. Our laundry room is a closet, so I need to use the vertical space. Shelves and a cabinet. Then some art.
My laundry room is in the basement, the dark, cold, cobwebby basement. (Is cobwebby a word?) Some paint would brighten it up, as would a colorful rug and some shelves.
Kristi
Love your ideas. I would make my laundry area into an actual ‘room’ so we don’t have to listen to our washer run through a cycle. I could use some nice storage too to hide and organize all the stuff that goes along with doing laundry. Thank you!
Maria @ natemariaadams@hotmail.com
I definitely need a new washer and dryer for my laundry room, but most of all, I need an actual laundry room! Right now, we just have a laundry closet :(
I think some cute baskets, glass canisters, and art would go a long way in making my laundry room a happier, more organized place.
Open shelving would help me tremendously! Home Depot Rocks!!!
Shelves or cupboards….I need more storage! And after seeing your post, now I have some ideas how to pretty the space up! Thank you!
My own laundry area is one of the most unpleasant areas in our home! It sits out in a largely neglected area of the garage. Oh how I would love to hang drywall and some nice storage cupboards above the washer and (failing old) dryer. A new countertop for the adjacent workbench would also allow me to fold clothes straight from the dryer as well.
Don’t even get me started! But, ok, I’d start with a pegboard hot water heater cover like this:
http://pinterest.com/pin/206813807857663423/
Or maybe a new dryer that doesn’t leave odd poop colored marks on our light clothing. :)
Camille
New flooring! My laundry room has builder grade linoleum in white which is okay. When the delivery people installed my new dryer several years ago, they put a tear in it. I didn’t discover it until the next time I cleaned the floor (which I don’t do as often as I should!) They had covered up the tear with my rug and left.
Great post, a laundry room is not where most people want to spend their design dollars but a beautiful space can make the drudgery of doing laundry a little less.
Golly, it needs everything including a dryer. The lady we bought the house from was afraid of fire so…. no dryer. Makes sence right. You can imagin what else needs to be done.
Great space but, ratber empty.
I would love to improve the lighting in my laundry room. Right now it is so dim!
Thanks for the chance to win!
wildorchid985 at gmail dot com
I’d love to get new floors!
I would love to redo my laundry room! Paint, cabinets and new lighting would do wonders for this space. I long for storage that will allow me to clear the floor of basket full of cleaning supplies.
Great post, Emily! Our laundry room needs paint, a new runner for the floor and a good clean out!
My laundry room needs some serious organization! It’s also the pass through from the garage so it becomes the drop zone. Thanks! Lisa V
Unfortunately my laundry “room” is in our basement. I would use the $500 towards a new washer and dryer. Ours are 15 years old. I would also like to replace the set of cabinets I have to hold my detergents, softener, etc. I love the tray you added in your laundry room with the lamp and bowls.
Heidi (echotwins@aol.com)
I would add decorative shelving and maybe some cabinets instead of the wire shelf we have above the machines!
I would like to make my laundry room more pleasant to be in!
Our laundry is in our unfinished basement so I would want to put a tile floor in the laundry area to make it its own space and more asthetically pleasing.
My laundry room is in the basement and needs better lighting. There isn’t a window so it can be dark. I would like it to be brighter and with better flooring it just might get me to spend more time there.
Ann
mcflyrc@windstream.net
I would add some shelving and better storage options. And perhaps some drop cloth curtains to conceal the appliances since you have to pass through our laundry room to get to the backyard.
Our “laundry room” is in the garage, with the washer on one side, and the dryer on the opposite wall. So I get to haul clean (but wet) laundry across the dirty garage floor and hopefully not drop anything! My plan is to make our adjacent mudroom into the laundry room, but that requires running plumbing from the half bath for the washer hookup. A $500 Home Depot card would buy us the plumbing fittings we need to make it happen!
My laundry room is in a dark basement of a 1928 house and I would love to have some shelving and industrial baskets for all the laundry.
I would love to add storage bins for each member of the house’s laundry, and I would love an ironing/folding station. — Sarah..
Take out the desk and add more storage.
What I really need to do is make it twice the size BUT since I cannot do that I need to add some artwork and decorative items since it is so boring in there. Thanks for the great giveaway!!
My laundry room is in the basement and it can definitely use some sprucing up! Just new paint on the walls and floor would made a huge improvement. I need a new dryer too!
I would add more shelving to store laundry items and would like to paint the walls to add some brightness.
my laundry room looks like yours except I don’t have a sink, we have the rough in but never added the utility sink. I would love to have that to be able to clean paint brushes, shoes, etc. instead of using my kitchen sink.
thanks for giveaway chance
risiabradshaw@verizon.net
Sad to say I do not have a laundry room.I spend my washing time in the garage. In Florida that’s not fun.So I would love to enclose it and add a duct for air conditioning.
Mary
Renonfl@yahoo.com
In my laundry room, I’d love to add a counter top to fold, a pole to hang clothes, and a cabinet for some storage of my homemade detergent!! :)
I would love to add a hanging or laying area to dry sweaters!
I would be content with a folding surface! I can already hear the Hallelujah Chorus!
I would add some organizing bins and a window treatment, Thanks for a great give
away.
I would love to paint our laundry room and add some shelves and extra storage. It’s really the only room in our house that hasn’t been decorated!
~Stephanie
I’d love to replace my loud, noisy washer!
I would like to redo our storage area so that I can have hampers hidden in the storage area as well, it would be a huge help!
jessicarwarfield at gmail dot com
I need to add more storage. An additional three shelves would make a WORLD of difference!
I’d love to add more function and beauty to our laundry room. I have plans to repaint and add broom/mop storage this weekend.
I’d love to reorganize our laundry room to make the little space that we have work so much better. Currently we have hampers and clothes everywhere and detergent, etc. on some old plastic shelves that I’m surprised haven’t collapsed yet.
My laundry room is an under-the-stairs closet. I need shelves!
I would like a fresh coat of paint on the walls and cabinets.
My laundry room is an under-the-stairs closet. I need shelves!
My laundry room is still stud walls. It has a bathroom adjoining it with 3/4 walls and a shower curtain for a door! It needs a TON of help! So, I’d close in the bathroom and add a door first thing!
We would love some shelves and a farmhouse sink!
I would love shelves to put laundry baskets and a place to fold laundry.
Kelly
kellyplais@hotmail.com
Refinish the concrete floor!
I need a laundry room. Our washer and dryer are in the garage and I would love to make it a little personalized space.
My laundry room window could use a bright, happy roman shade. And of course lots of shelving and hooks!
My laundry room is in the unfinished part of our basement, and I would love some sort of organization for the top of the washer and dryer for detergent, bleach, etc. Love your glass canister and think I’ll do the same with the Oxyclean granules I have. Thankfully I have plenty of room for a huge folding table, a three-bin canvas sorting cart, a drying rack, right next to the wall basket that catches clothes from the laundry shoot. Now if I could only find a way to get the folded laundry back up the shoot, so I didn’t have to carry it up two flights of stairs….
I have to rid of the awful accordion doors [ that don’t even close ] and an updated paint job would be lovely!!!
I would love to add some color and pattern to my laundry room.
With four kids, I spend a bunch of time in our laundry room. When we moved into this house nearly 5 years ago, it was one of the first rooms I tackled. I finished it using “oops” paint and thrift store finds and I’m mostly happy with it. The one thing it needs to be completely finished is new flooring. Right now there is nasty vinyl in there that the previous homeowners installed improperly, so it’s not really stuck down in places–you can pull whole corners up– (it’s the same in the master bath–what a depressing room) and it’s yellowed and gross. If I just don’t look down at the floor, it’s all good; but having the chance to win $$$? That’s much better!
To start, I need a new washer & dryer. I’d love to subway tile the back of the laundry room wall too!
Our laundry room is poorly laid out, so I desperately need to reposition the washer and dryer. My husband is capable of doing the plumbing and rewiring required, but it’s a bit pricey, so the poor laundry room keeps getting pushed down the to-do list. $500 to Home Depot would definitely bump it back up to the top! And make my laundry-filled days that much more enjoyable.
And I love how you made the ferns “work”. Looks great!
Where do I even start? You have to pass through the laundry room to get to the guest room in the house we just moved into (for real :-) and the laundry room is some kind of ugly. I need to rip out the ugly shelving that is there and put in cabinetry, new shelving, and add some organization! And it all has to be pretty if course!
The money would go towards a new washing machine.
We need light! I painted our small laundry closet dark grey to match the walls around it, but with no real light it’s not ideal!
I would love to add built in shelves!
I need some organization in my laundry/storage room/ office. It is the one room I have neglected because it is so big and is used for so many things. The possibilities are endless and it has been hard to decide which direction to go! Thankfully I have finally come up with a plan that will be functional and have a bit of style!
We would build lockers, and shelving above to store off-season items, as well as add some art to the walls.
First of all I love how you make the best of a situation like your unwanted wallpaper! Our washer leaked and the floor had to be replaced so right now I’d love flooring. We got as far as replacing the subflooring, then four kids…. you know the drill. Do you have a closet in your laundry room? I love the sink. Wish I had one. Do you use yours much?
I would add open shelves a sink and a new paint.
I would like to add a fresh coat of paint and freshen up my cabinets — LOVE how you did yours!
Have a great day!
Melanie
(Melanie@OnlyABreath.com)
Wow, what an amazing giveaway! With this gift card, I would put it towards a new washer and repainting the room. Our laundry room is also our mud room and has the door off of our garage, so the walls inevitably get scuffed. And our poor little washer… it leaked into our basement this past spring and we have tried our best to fix it to last a bit longer. Fingers crossed! :)
My laundry room has open shelving that is just a mix-match of boxes and totes. None of it goes together or looks good. I would love to get a cohesive look together with one storage solution. I love what you did with the Martha Stewart bins. The price is good and would offer a more uniform look.
We desperately need a sink added to our laundry room.
My laundry room is part of a bigger room so I would like to give it more of a separate area feel!
I need to improve the storage. I have cabinets, but it would be nice to make it a little more user friendly.
I’d love to organize it!!!!
I had no idea that I would need a utility sink with two little ones. Help us keep the yuck confined to our laundry room!
It looks great! My laundry room has become a dumping ground and I need to crawl out of it. I could create so much magic with $500!
I would love a countertop in my laundry room! Right now it’s just machines.
I have a typical basement laundry room and would love to make it more inviting.
We are moving in September so I need a whole new laundry room!! The one in our new home is a serious DOWNGRADE from the one we are leaving!
I need a whole new laundry room! We are moving in September & the new house’s laundry room is a serious downgrade from our current home.
Some shelves, baskets, fresh paint…..would definitely revive it!
Would love to add some shelves and bins to keep it organized and add color to the walls… i loved your corkboard back splash and the pretty bowls to hold keys and change love it! angelgenius27(at)yahoo(dot)com
A new washer and dryer with steam would be first on our list.
Emily! I would loooooove to make my laundry room pretty! It is off of my screened porch and I am ashamed to even open the door. It’s dark, dingy, and down right scary! I need to lighten, brighten, and create storage!
Oooo my laundry room linoleum floor needs to go!! I would love to do something about that!:)
My laundry room is in my creepy basement…it needs a lot of paint, a new floor, and some love.
I would like to paint our laundry room a nice bright color. Some nice shelving would be good too.
My laundry room needs lots of organization and little TLC.
I’d like to add a counter over my washer and dryer. And I need better storage.
New baskets for storage, some paint and a little shabby chic charm and mine would look so much better….love your improvements…Mandy

I would love to paint my laundry room!

I’d love to paint my cupboards and put in new tile.
Paint, paint, paint! The floors, the walls, the ceiling tiles! Paint is the one thing that would make a huge difference in my laundry room. Its on my to do!
I would love to have more storage space
I really need to do something about the flooring. Bare basement concrete right now with a few mats.
I’d like to paint our cupboards and put in new tile in our laundry room. I LOVE your blog and how real it is!
We recently got a new washer and dryer, but I haven’t taken time to freshen up the laundry room. I need to clean out the cabinets and get some organizers for them and then add lots of decorative touches like pictures, rug and a window treatment!
I’d love to paint the cupboards and put in new tile and light fixtures. I sure do love your blog and how real it is!
I need it all! Our “laundry room” is in our unfinished basement, so when we finish it (hopefully soon!) we’ll need cabinets, shelving, the whole shebang. :)
I’d love to get ours out of the garage!
I’d love to get ours out of the garage!
I would love to add a countertop above the washer and dryer
Some great improvements, Emily! I think adding a lamp is my favorite. It just makes it feel more “livable” and I often change loads late at night, right before I go to bed, so that soft light would be nicer to deal with than the harsh overhead light. Our laundry room is also where all of our dog stuff is, so I would love to be able to deal with that in a different way. All the dog food and water drips…ewh. :)
I need lots of help! I have four children and lots of laundry!!
I need more creative storage and some cute elements too. My laundry is a corner of the basement with water heater, HVAC and other ugly things in a tight space!
hook me up Home Depot! My “laundry list” is long. :)
I need a LOT more organization in our laundry room. Some more shelving, some cute baskets, bins, etc.
Thanks for the chance!
alovelylune@gmail.com
Would love to add sky high cabinets in our new laundry room :)
I would love to add sky high cabinets in our new laundry room :)
I’d add a place to fold laundry and hang delicates when I can’t use my clothesline. Right now I hang my delicates on chairs in my dining room during the winter!!
I woudl love to improve our organization system in our laundry room. No matter how hard I try, it seems to always be a mess. And I love that cork board backsplash idea!
What I’d really like to do is get a stackable washer & dryer set to get a better set up in there! But I’d settle for some paint & an indoor/outdoor rug to transform & cheer up the place, as it’s the go-through that connects the house to the garage, where my husband & I enter/exit the house 95% of the time.
I would love to add cabinets to my laundry room, instead of the open wire shelving we have now! I would also love to paint and do a bit of decorating.
I would love to repaint (stripes in a fun color maybe?), add a drying rack, & make it multi-function as a tiny mudroom. Thanks for the giveaway!
Where to start? I’d love to add better storage, and definitely paint it a pretty color.
Only one thing? ;) I would definitely add more shelving/storage!
My husband and I just bought a 1967 brick ranch home. And the laundry room is in the basement storage room. We have been dying to either paint the concrete floor or acid stain it. As well as cabinets/shelving for all our storage needs. It is awful!
I would add some shelves and perhaps even do some drywalling to cover up concrete wall. It needs help!!
My water heater is in my laundry room. It’s just exposing all its ugliness to the rest of the room. I wish I could build a cabinet surround for it and add a new lighting fixture to the room. It needs a BIG pick-me-up!
My laundry so needs some love!! I would love to give it a fresh coat of paint, take out some of the wire shelving and add some stock cabinets, maybe through in a chandelier!
A new room ha! Laundry is located in the basement sigh…that aside some shelving would be nice to help with organization…
A new room, ha! Our laundry is in the basement sigh…in all seriousness some shelving for organization would be nice
We’re in the very beginning stages of a complete kitchen remodel, so funds for anything else just aren’t in the picture. However, I would love to paint my laundry room and add some pretty hardware to the cabinets to freshen the space up. Like you, I spend a lot of time in that little room!
I would love to have a laundry room in the first place instead of laundry in the basement, but we have so much organizing and freshening up to do in the basement it would be such a help to win this giveaway!
At least some paint!
I would love for my laundry room to double as a mudroom. Adding a few hooks for backpacks just isn’t enough. I need shoe storage for three little boys!
I need a complete redo! I could use new machines too, they are not HE.
Our dryer just broke and we are in DESPERATE need of a new one…that preferably isn’t as old as our house. :)
Well! Hopefully re-orienting our washer and dryer will be my Christmas present. Just moving them will create an actual “laundry room”.
We have those white generic shelves, I would like to add some cabinets for storage to hide some of the mess!
I desperately need some storage to corral all of the miscellaneous items.
I would love to add new shelves and baskets!
I’d love to build some shelves to house baskets for non matching “lost” socks, etc. Also to have it a tad bit more organized.
Your quick update is amazing! Hmmph, I’d love to add hooks for the ironing board and to separate clothes that need ironing. I’d also would like a shelf, perhaps out of wood or granite, to go on top of the washer and dryer so that I can actually fold clothes in the room instead of having to do it in the bedroom.
Oooooh GOOD question. Re-install a sink,add more shelves…hire a laundress.
Sumpin’ like that.
I’d love to have some shelves or a place to hide all the plethora of laundry supplies. That would be a great start.
I would paint and update, update, update!
Great job – love the corkboard! I could really stand to install some cabinets to create more hidden storage and figure out a way to eliminate the mess from our dripping jumbo-size laundry detergent dispenser.
I would add (desperately needed) upper cabinets. Our builder-grade shelves are caving in under the weight of all of cleaning supplies! I super duper hope I win!!
I’d add a curtain to cover the open shelf above my washer/dryer.
I would like to add a shelf to hold my cleaning supplies.
Debbie V
We are moving into our new home in a few weeks so the laundry room will need a complete overhaul — appliances, flooring, decor, etc! :)
I need to move a shelf and add a new one so I can finally open my washing machine all the way!
I just want a laundry room, instead of a laundry closet!
I need more shelving & a rubber mat to go under the stackable dryer.
We need to really revamp our laundry space. It’s in the basement and there is no shelving, bad lighting, no organization! I want a cute, colorful, happy space to do laundry!
Our laundry room is off of the garage. I would like to do something that would designated the space a bit more.
Definitely needs some wallpaper and a pretty overhead fixture. Thanks so much!
mary.run@verizon.net
I’d love to paint the wall behind my machines and add cute baskets to the open shelves, as well as a cupboard to hide my uglies. Your few little updates made the fern wallpaper look stylish! :)–Alexandra Stevens
I can’t believe what a difference the corkboard alone makes! I may copy that!!
We need flooring in ours! It’s just exposed subfloor and I’ve put down a rug over it.
I would start with a new washer, then change up the cement walls down in the dungeon, otherwise known as the basement;)!
You’re so smart. It looks great!
I would get it the heck out of the basement!
I would love to stack my current washer and dryer and install a deep sink!
I just loved this post. I love how you took what wasn’t your favorite, and made it a bit better without a ton of money. Love that. Thanks so much for sharing that. These are things I can do. My laundry room isn’t terrible, but it is bland. I’d love to paint, get a rug, add some color. I just have to decide a color scheme and take the time to go for it. Thanks for inspiring me.
I would love to stack my current washer and dryer to install a deep sink…that would be so useful!! :) thanks for the opportunity!!
I need to organize organize organize! Shelving, bins and something to hang clothing on.
Since my laundry room is between the kitchen and the garage, it is a catchall for items that have not made it to the garage yet – newspapers, magazines and random items I’m unsure what to do with. So it seems what I need most is an organization system.
I would love to have more cupboard space to hide the laundry soaps and bleach and all the extra stuff
It’s not creative but we desperately need to get a new washer and dryer. We are currently using my parents old ones that have literally been washing my clothes for at least 20 years. Rust stains on top of dryer and all!
I’d love a sink…not much I can do to spruce up the unfinished basement around it :(

I would love to add some shelving above the washer and dryer.
My laundry room need serious help! The room only contains a washer and dryer. I have no shelving or cabinets so that would be the first big change I would like to make. I would also love a folding table and a drying rack.
If I could make one change to my laundry room it would be to get rid of the paint stained sink from the previous owner. If I could change 2 things- I would paint the walls a nice new fresh color. Oh- and a new washer and dryer would be nice!
I would love to have counter space…and a whole new layout. But I would gladly start with a counter.
I really need new shelving for my laundry room – I have that ugly wire shelving and would much prefer a cabinet to hold all the necessities!
I do love the cork backsplash-it adds more warmth & is so fun to pin pictures of kids up! It makes this workspace a happy workspace! I love the chalk painted pot with the succulent!
Really need more storage space in our laundry room!
We’re in the midst of redoing the laundry room now. It’s a tiny room between the garage and the dining room with 5 doors! FIVE!! I’m thinking of building a “faux mudroom” by covering the exterior door (that we don’t use) with wood and beadboard and making the bottom a bench that can also hide the cat’s litter box. Then I’ll just have 4 doors and one beautiful organizing center :)
Our tiny laundry room could use some TLC…I would love to get some cute storage options to make it function the best it can! It’s also our entry way from the garage into the house, which makes it even more in need of some attention. Thanks for the chance!
Ohhhh, my laundry room. Bless it’s little heart. Well, it is only half-painted thanks in part to the previous owners and is terribly arranged. I would love to freshen it up with paint and rearrange the shelves/organization system. It’s not the most well-planned room in the house!
Add color- make better use of space- redo so that it better works with our family of 6
Our tiny laundry room could use some TLC! We could use some storage and cute accessories. It’s also the entry from our garage to our house…so it really needs to function better! Thanks for the chance!
My laundry room and pantry are combined! Worst thing about my house but I think with reorganization exactly like you did will make it better. I even pinned it and headed on over to your blog to check it out! Thanks for all of your tips!
Would like to add nicer shelving and some personality.
I’d like to add shelves and new tile on the floor. Then I would replace the washer and dryer :)
I love the changes you made to your laundry room, and I see I need more color & personality in ours. I would love a window treatment and matching seat cushion in our laundry room. Perhaps a cute wooden hanger for air dry items & a couple of those pretty glass jars you have! LOVE the light too! Thanks for the opportunity to win. Your Fan, Jackie
djlydon@aol.com
I would love closed shelving and a table to fold the laundry
I’d paint our laundry room to brighten it up and add some much needed shelves.
I have a tiny laundry room that I am very thankful for since it is in the house, However it is only as wide as the washer and dryer, I am in need of some storage over the machines and a solution for the dirty clothes that are in baskets. We have painted to freshen it up, but it still needs a bit more help.
Kathysue
Only one thing I would change? I would change A LOT! The window in our laundry room is so old, It does not open, the door and walls need a repainting and we need some better shelves. :-) That is just a start but that $500 prize could really get the ball rolling for us.
Shelves and a rug to cover the basement concrete floor would be amazing!
OHHH my goodness, I so need this! I am in the middle of redoing my laundry room, and even little things get expensive. Next on the list is redoing the counter top in there!
Add some cabinets and paint! We have clothes pin stencils everywhere… gross!
I have so much to improve on in my laundry room, but first up would be to fix my lack of storage. Thanks for the giveaway!
Our laundry “closet” might work better with a stackable washer and dryer. And maybe better lighting. I don’t spend much time in there and I fold everything on the couch.
I actually have two things I need to do, update the lighting and add shelves and baskets to organize the clutter.
I need to organize… it’s always so cluttered.
Blech. I hate being in there.
Id love to stack my washer and dryer so I could add a utility sink in there!
I would add a washer!
I would add a washer!
Paint or wallpaper! The walls in my laundry room are a dingy white and I want to do something a little daring- maybe some leopard print wallpaper…
I would love to paint it a fun color! scg00387 at yahoo dot com
Just installed open shelves but would love enclosed cabinets to hide every thing. Your idea to use containers would make my shelves a bit prettier. Thanks.
Emily, please pick me!!!! I really need a new floor! Mine is 18 years old and has been worn hard!!!! LOVE what organization and cleaning out and some really creative touches can do.
What a delight to meet you at Haven!!!!
I can’t imagine your laundry room not being used!!!! Five kids make a whole lot of dirty clothes!
LOVE your blog articles! I really enjoy to do laundry in my house but my laundry room is small and dark. I would change the light fixture, wall color and add a storage piece. Thanks for the giveaway to your readers!
What ONE thing? So hard to say. But to start, my laundry room has terrible wallpaper that has to go.
My laundry room is actually the hallway between the mudroom and the bathroom. I would get rid of the kitschy wallpaper and get new flooring.
oh wow, I would make it more organized and add shelves….my laundry room is my kitchen too:)
I have to start at ground zero! New cabinets, paint, and some serious organization is needed.
Oh man, do I have dreams for my laundry room! Too bad I won’t get to finish it in time for the Maytag contest!
My washer and dryer are in a closet right off the kitchen. It’s really convenient (as in doing laundry and watching TV) but my 70s ranch kitchen has very little storage! The laundry “closet” is actually a pretty good size so I’m going to get a stackable set and turn the other half of the closet into a pantry. The closet is deep enough I should be able to have the pantry shelves turn the corner. This will create so much room that it makes me a little dizzy with happiness.
I definitely redo my closets to have better storage and install a sink and working area where I have a worthless storage unit. Just dreaming…..
sandram@wilsonhouston.com
I would love to add some shelving in my laundry room to place colorful organizing bins on the shelves to eliminate clutter and brighten up the room!
I’m not even sure where to start. We built our house 8 years ago, but we sort of ran out of steam and money when we got to the laundry room. We have a nice high efficiency washer and dryer in there, but that’s it! Maybe I would start with putting up sheet rock!
We definitely need a new washer/dryer. We have an old top loader with agitator – a water waster! Our laundry “room” is also in a closet in the kitchen…I’d love to expand it somehow.
I would like counter space to fold clothes.
I haven paneling in my laundry room, so I would like to gut it completely….sheetrock, paint, new flooring and find some creative shelving/storage that melds style w/ functionality!
My laundry room has received the least amount of attention of all the rooms in our house. A fresh coat of paint and some fun artwork would be a start.
anything I could do would greatly improve our dark, dated and sad laundry room. It is in our basement with no window…no natural light and old cinder block walls, peeling paint and an old, old floor that has seen much better days. Oh…the best part, the light is just a sad lonely light bulb ……sad.
I definitely need some colour and lots of storage solutions!
Love reading your blog Emily! So many great ideas! I really need to add storage and character to my laundry room!
I’d love to replace the floor in there & also the wonky cabinet doors. :)
I need some color, cute accessories and organization in my laundry room! It is so blah right now. Great contest!
I would love to change the walls and get new shelving!
My laundry room is tiny and there is not a ton we can do to it. However, I would love to paint it a cheerful color and add creative storage to make the most of the space.
I would love some baskets, shelving, and a new dryer!! Ours takes a couple of cycles to get the clothes dry!!
I would paint it a pretty color, add some cabinets and easier to reach shelving!!
My laundry area is truly terrible. It’s in an over crowded garage with a fluorescent light fixture above it. Right now, I just want to clear a path to get to it without breaking my neck;)
Our laundry room needs some paint and some clutter catchers! Some bling would be extra nice.
I want to turn what was meant to be a dining room, currently a make-shift kid’s room, into a combo laundry, mudroom and open pantry with an island for folding.
My laundry room is in my kitchen. I would run the appropriate lines to at least get it into the garage!
skromann96@hotmail.com
I’m currently putting some “lipstick” on my laundry room :) I’d love to paint over the “basement gray” the cement floor is currently. Suzanne
The one thing I would do in my laundry room is add some more light!
Lay tile on the backer board. Been in limbo for two years on this project.
I love the cork board and may have to add some myself. I would like to add color with paint. I too would add cabinets & shoe storage as it doubles as our mud room!
This is great Emily! Ferns are going to be all the rage starting now. :) I love the peg board, total genius. xoxo ~Sarah
Laundry room is in my 6 foot basement so I need one upstairs!!
We currently do not have a laundry room sink and I would love to add one! I really miss using the one we had in our old house!
I would love to add a backsplash behind my washer and dryer and replace the nasty popcorn ceiling with some lovely planks!
I would love to have an actual laundry room and not just a space in the basement.
I would like to have an actual laundry room. Our washer and dryer currently live in a cabinet in our kitchen. I love what you did to “work with what you’ve got” and make your laundry room a happier place to be.
My list is long -but to start, I would love to have a door on my laundry room!
I’d like to create a better shelving system and also add hanging space. The square footage of my laundry room is small but I have very high ceilings, so I’ll have to go vertical and figure out the best way to access the stuff that’s up high.
yupee… finally a good reason to get my husband to let me redue that ugly room.Wow the things i could get done with 5G. I wou.ld start with some
I need better storage solutions!
I need to build an enclosure for my washer and dryer, which are currently in our kitchen. Ugh! ;)
a good storage solution for our small room.
shot…. i didnt leave my email on my comment. makeup_into@yahoo.com
I would love to organize and de-clutter the cabinets and counter top in our laundry room. We also have wallpaper that I can live with, but it’s not really my thing.
I love the cork back splash with your favorite quote and the pictures of your babies! Looks awesome!
I would love to add pretty baskets and bins to the shelves for organization.
My laundry room is like a closet that is behind bifold doors. It’s a fairly new addition & I should have painted in a snazzy color like turquoise or painted stripes but, alas, I did not. So I would paint & tidy the shelves w/ decorative containers. Thanks for the chance to win!
I need storage with doors, but it would help if I’d purge and reorganize first to know exactly what I need. Great giveaway!
A new washer and dryer, for sure!
Well we could most definitely use a dryer! An old-fashioned hanging line takes time :)
I would add some tall storage cabinets and install tile for sure!
I would add some tall storage cabinets and install tile for sure!
I would really like to have a counter top over my washer and dryer and a more convenient place to hang stuff, and some fun wall art
I would love to paint my cabinets white & put down new lanolium. A laundry room should feel clean & fresh, mind definitely does not.
I’d just like to get my washer and dryer out of our garage and have a real laundry room! Thanks so much for this opportunity.
My (scuffed and wood) floor really need to be painted in my Laundry room.
Phall0106@yahoo dot com
how about evrything
What doesn’t my laundry room need? New paint and get rid of the wire shelving for starters!
At a minimum I need to get rid of the boob light in my laundry room, but I also am about ready for a new washer and dryer too!
I would like to add a shelf right on top of my front loaders to give me a place to fold laundry.
We need storage, flooring, walls… You name it! Our basement laundry is a mess!
Well it would be nice if my washer/dryer actually were a matching set but they do work so that’s a positive!
Hi Emily,
As always I love how you make a bad situation look beautiful. I kind of like the ferns. Our washer rotted out our floor and while hubby replaced the floor, I am living with subflooring. What with work and four boys, it just isn’t getting finished. So new flooring would be wonderful! I love your sink and do you have a closet in there as well?
Pretty nifty space to be small. We need pretty laundry rooms. I tell everyone if you’re missing me, I’m in the laundry room!
We recently moved in to a 21 year old home. I just painted the laundry room walls and ceiling, and bought 2 cabinets for storage. I would love to get a new floor and light fixture. Our floor is old linoleum with dings and holes in it. I love your blog!
I would add some cabinets above the washer and dryer for storage, repair and paint the ceiling, add some art and paint the walls.
Our laundry “room” is actually a closet. And to be honest, I’d use the money for a new dryer! That thing is about to bust!
New shelves, paint the floor, install new lights…it needs a lot of work!
I would love to add a sink and ironing board/clothes hanging storage!
Breadboard!
I would love a dryer rack and more storage! :)
We really need storage
My laundry room desperatly needs a make over: top for washer dryer (it’s all rusted), paint, top cabinets, light fixture.
I would love to add shelves and get some organizational things on them. OH and a new rug:)
Really need storage
Mine needs a total redo but right now I’d be happy with a counter to fold clothes with a built in space underneath for my cat’s litter box. Because right now, and far too often, the clean, unfolded clothes, in the basket on the floor become alternate litter boxes…grrr.
We are about to move into a very small, not cute house in expensive California and I would be so very grateful for any and all help in making our laundry area just a little bit cuter!
I’d like new countertops in my laundry room!
I have a terrific new washer and dryer but just stuck in the basement. I need a real laundry room with storage for laundry items and a drying rack for delicates. Of course lots of pretty details and a folding area would be great too!
I need storage above my washer & dryer. I have one lonely cheap rack now & envision cabinets and a stylish look!
My laundry room at the moment is much like your before picture without the wall paper .i need to make it a happy place where I can stay and fold my laundry …
I really want to change out our current counters, add a sink and it would also be great to add more counter space over the washer/dryer for folding. Cabinets painted, new rug, mudroom built-ins…..a girl can dream :)
I would love to change out our current countertops and add more counter space over the washer/dryer. Paint cabinets, new rug, new light fixture and mudroom built-ins….a girl can dream :)
Well…at the top of my list would be a new washer. It is 25 yrs. old and has been broken for almost 3 years! Sure would be nice to have a washer again!!
I would love a new pair of HE appliances! Everything else in my laundry room is great but my washer and dryer are ancient!
Wow…..where would I start?? It would get a total redo!!
I literally just finished painting my laundry room the past 2 days (walls, ceiling, trim, doors, shelving) and next on my wish list is a new floor. I need something that doesn’t scream out “Hey you! There’s dirt on the floor! Get to sweepin’!” Having a doggie door is great, but the dirt has stained my current floor so I need a more dirt friendly color floor.
I would love to be able to get a new washer!
My “laundry room” is a corner of the garage, and I would love to make its corner look 100x brighter and cleaner than it is now. New shelves, a small partition, and a wall mounted drying rack would be a great start.
I would love to add some more shelves in my laundry room too.
It’s too bad I couldn’t build a laundry room in the house for $500. Our laundry is in the garage, but I could still use some extra shelving and possibly paint the existing cabinet.
We have a large laundry room but it never stays organized. I need to declutter and start over! We also need a sink and countertop. OH, and I am using a washer/dryer that was my Grandmothers. I bet they are 25 years old.
The room where my washer and dryer are is kind of a junk/laundry room! I would put sheet rock up and tile the floors, put in a ton of storage places and cubbies!
And I would buy a new washer! mine has one speed! LOW! so sad!
Thanks leAnn
I would change the old light fixture and paint the cabinets.
I’ve got plaid, lots and lots of plaid wallpaper that I’d like to change!! Also I’d love a big rolling laundry cart!
I would add more shelves and take down the wallpaper. New paint and new flooring. It’s never ending!!
I would add shelves, can’t believe my laundry room doesn’t have them!
