I’m always up for a challenge. Especially when it has to do with cute lamps.
Chelsea of Yours Truly recently opened an online home accessory & furnishings shop on Joy & Revelry and asked me to be part of a “white box challenge.” She chose a surprise item from her shop and sent the same thing to me and several other bloggers, asking us to show how we would use it in our homes. Mine arrived first. It’s always a good day when a pair of lamps show up on your doorstep.
These lamps are small—16 inches tall—and compare in size to a wall sconce. So, I decided to use mine in a similar way. I carried them around the house trying them in different places before they landed on the mantel (for now, anyway). The previous homeowners made a lot of good decisions when they built, and putting an outlet on the mantel was one of them.
The size makes them really versatile. If/when I ever find a small table for our powder room, I think they’d be perfect in there. They’d also work on a desk, or a kitchen or bathroom countertop. For now, mine are happy here:

The lamps are darling, Emily! But, truly, what makes them work is the black and white ginger jars. I love it!
I love the look of those lamps. Then again I’m a lamp addict lol. It was very smart of the previous owners to install a plug on the mantle.
Very cute little lamps indeed! xo Kristin
love the size of those lamps! and i love that they add another black element to your home.
i LOVE those little goobers. so cute!
Love the lamps! Love even more how you incorporated the black & white throw in the picture! It all blends perfectly!
I am a mom of twins. I call them “the destroyers!” How you keep blankets and pillows in one spot!?
Love the touches of black in your room. Also that paint color… what is that?
They are seriously adorable! Love the shape of them!
Emily I adore these special little lamps. They are perfect with your decor! Super impressed with the outlet on the mantle. There are two spots, including that one that outlets would have been a blessing in my home! Builders take heed!

How fun! I love that you treated them like sconces… genious idea! I absolutely love them on the mantel. I also agree they would look great on a counter, if you ever want to change things up later on.
They look so cute on your mantel! I love that you repeated the black and white in the jars next to the lamps. Looks great!
Ha! I did the white box challenge with a gold vase/bowl, and it ended up on my mantel, too! I’m becoming more obsessed with your mirror everyday. That’s all.

ooooh i love this idea! I need more lamps in my home and hate overhead lights.
The mantel is perfect!! Love the lamps and jars together.
On another note, I’ve been looking for a brass lamp exactly like that…. would you share where you found yours?
I found that one at HomeGood in the clearance section but it’s been several years ago :)
“HomeGoods”
Thanks!
Just saw Kirstin’s and I love yours on the mantel. You are lucky to have an outlet!
