Another update on the girls’ bedroom. I do a little here, lose interest, do a little there. . . The headboard fabric (which I still love) started to feel like it was limiting me with what other things I could bring into the room. So, I decided to throw another color into the mix by adding a new teal and white pillow to each of the girls’ beds.
I also found this tiny desk that fit perfectly between their bathroom and closet doors:
I painted it the same deep teal—Bimini Blue by Olympic (in a satin finish).
I found the paint-by-number at a thrift store, and have had the little white mirror in storage for a long time:
I’ve been wanting a dipped flower pot for a while, so I dipped—a pot—in paint. I think I’ll skip the tutorial on that one :)
I still feel like the room needs some tweaking, but there’s just a lot of other projects swirling in my head right now. I’m still thinking about a window treatment, and I’ve contemplated adding something to the bedding (patterned sheets? a duvet?). But honestly, we probably have too many “bleachable moments” around here to not keep the bedding white. So, this is where it stands for now. . .
We used these paint colors on the walls and ceiling.
Tomorrow, I’ll show you the little art project I attempted for their room.
I love how you added the blue touches in the room. Makes the reds and pinks pop even more! It is really coming together. I know what you mean about having so many projects that you just have to take it bit by bit. That is also the fun part!
Perfect! I love it! A beautiful result!
I love the color combination of the red/pink with the teal. It looks great as it is, but I know what you mean by losing interest and then going back to it. I do that all.the.time.
I love the desk with mirror and art and how you tied the pillow in – so cute!
That little desk is perfect! The room is looking great…cute color combo!
How absolutely charming. Love that white stripe on the pot.
Love the color combo! And that sweet little desk is just right!
Love the changes you’ve made to their room. The blue you chose looks great with the other colors in the room!
I’m in LOVE with that desk!
Wow, big impact from that fun little accent color! Sweet and a little sassy with that red ceiling!
That desk is EVERYTHING!
How fun, I love this. Hugs, Marty
Love that vibrant ceiling!
Absolutely love it! It looks adorable.
That color palette is so cute, I love it! And the painted ceiling….gorgeous!! Blue desk – awesome!!
I love it when people use blue for girls. Everything is so cute!
Where did you purchase those headboards? I’m working on a guestroom right now and am having trouble finding affordable twin headboards.
We made them–super cheap. I’ll put that on the “to post” list for the next week or two.
I love that teal colour! Just beautiful!
Can you tell me how you did that pot? HAHA .. just kidding!! Love the color infusion you bring to life!! xo
Maybe I’ll write an e-book on dipped pots… :)
The teal looks GREAT and that little desk is adorable!
The addition of blue takes the room to a different level…so cheery! I love the red ceiling and the blue desk.
Emily, it looks great! I love how it’s coming together.
Love that little desk!! So cute and perfect…and of course I love the color, and the ceiling! :)
I could have written this post about R’s room. Only because I totally relate to doing a little and losing interest. And stuck on window treatments with so much pattern already in the room. hmmm. Maybe I will just copy whatever you so ;)Darling desk. Such cute shape.
This is looking adorable Emily. I love it..I’m working on girls rooms too right now and it is so fun…I only wish I could paint their ceiling..that is a show stopper. Great Job!
Love that blue, it’s the perfect accent to the room. Super cute!
How about adding a trendy touch of brushed gold accents to the girls’ room? It would really make that great blue pop!
I love that color of blue with gold. I may try to bring in some gold frames or something eventually. . . Thanks.
Hi Emily, can I know where did you buy that striped rug?
It’s from Crate & Barrel.
Hi Emily!
I’m doing my family room in the same colors and love the pok a dot pillow. Would you mind sharing where it’s from?
Jenn, They’re from Etsy.

I’ll do a full post with sources soon.
Emily, that desk is PRECIOUS! You have such a talented “eye.” Thanks so much for sharing! Can’t wait to see the painted boy’s bed frame too!
The desk is perfect!! Love the color.
So pretty/ Love the teal and orange/red/coral ;) together
What a great space! I love the combination of teal and red! It’s very similar to what I want to do in our living room!
*** Hi, Em… IT’S ALL JUST SO DARLING & SWEET & HAPPY!!! You think old glass door-knobs on their closet doors just might be the “cherry on top”?
Hugs,
Linda
P.S… Oh, and I found TWO of the gray striped durries you have here, (each about 8×10), for $40 each @ Home Goods in the spring!!! Can you imagine that?!?! ( Haven’t used them yet, but they’re here, “just in case”!)…
XO again,
Linda
What a deal! If I find them for $40, I might need to stock up for when this one gets thrown up on in the middle of the night :)
Love the room! Did you make the bulletin boards? Also, love the blue on the desk. Any thoughts on using the standard blue satin paint vs. chalk paint? I am trying to decide on painting some furniture so I would be curious on your opinion.
No, I already had the bulletin boards–and the frame color was close enough.
I don’t have a lot of experience with chalk paint, except for painting our back door (which I later painted over in another color). I thought satin paint would give it a more polished look, but maybe other readers could weigh in with their opinion of chalk paint…
Emily – did you paint the desk with a brush, or do you have a home spray painter?
I really like the bold ceiling and headboard. The color is so gorgeous and fun
Seriously ~ what an adorable little desk! It’s perfect!!!
The blue is a winner in my book…..room is looking cute:)
Can you share with us the name and source for the white and teal dot fabric?
So pretty! Great post!
