My (Newly) Dark Powder Room

May 7, 2013

Remind me that I like a dark powder room.

 IMG_6164

The first coat of dark paint can be a little scary.  I worried for a second, but now that it’s all done, I think I love it.  (And, I’m glad I chose a small space to go this dark.)

I, of course, used the same charcoal that’s around the rest of our house.

And, after unsuccessfully shopping for new shades for the existing vanity light, I ended up ordering this sconce yesterday.  I felt like the powder room (and I) at least deserved a new light after the wallpaper removal saga.

I’m still thinking about the art, and I need to find a few other little pretties.  Then, I’ll post the infamous blogger “reveal.”  I hope you can stand the suspense. . .

that is stunning! yes, the first coat of dark can be shocking. a few weeks ago i painted the ceiling of our master bedroom sherwin’s refuge (at 50%) and it was dark. but after living with it for 10 days i realized that i really wanted a dark, rich color (the walls and bedding is white). over this past weekend i repainted with tempe star and love the results. that charcoal is a great color choice for you!

I love the color and it will turn out fine! I know the feeling of questioning super dark….I did a dining room in dark charcoal…almost black and it turned out awesome!

I love it, especially with the brass.

I was thinking that Hillary’s Watermelon painting would look really good in there and pull in some of the orange you’ve used in other rooms of the house. ;)

I desperately want to paint a wall in a dark charcoal in my home somewhere and was just recently thinking maybe I could try our little bathroom….it would be semi cheating since it is tiled in white about 3 /4 a way up the wall…but a start, right? Maybe I will go buy the paint today….

No fear!! I’ve painted our teeny tiny smallest powder room ever in old school Philadelphia Eagles green to many compliments. And, I *just* finished painting my DR in BM Hale Navy–going from a super-light tan. Couldn’t be happier. Go for the drama.

It’s going to look great! I always remind myself that once I get everything on the walls it will be what I envisioned. Of course, I don’t have any dark walls anymore and I’m kind of sad about that, lol. I’m dying for dark walls, bright furniture, and a bit of leopard.
