It’s been a while since I’ve bought a decorating book—between blogs, Pinterest, and the stack of magazines piling up on my desk. But, I recently received this one from the publisher and thought it was worth sharing with you:

 

Country Living: The Little Book of Big Decorating Ideas 

 

I’ve been a Country Living subscriber for several years now, and I think it keeps getting better and better.  (Do you?)  The book is a compilation of good—and easy—ideas, featuring many of my favorite photos from the magazine.  It’s divided into sections, such as “New Uses for Old Things”, “Wall Art for a Song”, and “Simple Storage Solutions.”

Overall, I’d say it’s a good guide to help you know what to look out for when you’re thrifting–or shopping your house for things to repurpose.  And, this might seem silly, but I like the size of the book.  It’s a cute square 7×7″ inches, making it an easy little house-warming gift to wrap up.

    The size of the book is genius! Easy to pick up and carry, etc. Great for reference.

    I love books like this with lots of pictures and easy to read tips! This would also make a perfect gift for my mother-in-law. They are selling their house that they’ve lived in for about 30 years. While she’s sad, she’s trying to be excited about decorating a new home. This would help her get going!

    Country Living is my favorite magazine….at least since Cottage Living went out of print. I’m still in mourning over that! My style is best described as modern country because I gravitate toward simplicity in design….probably because my life as a high school teacher is so loud…I need quiet design. It also tends to be easy on my tight budget because so much of the design is based on using older things in new and innovative ways.

    My daughter and husband just had an offer accepted on a new house tonight. The house has wonderful potential but is stuck in the ’80s! Because this “forever house” is quite a stretch for them, their is no remodeling budget at the moment. They will need lots of inspiration for low cost ideas.

    I used to subscribe to Country Living Magazine but did not resubscribe last time my subscription ran out (cutting household costs.) This post makes me want to resubscribe right now!! I do miss the magazine and would so love to have this book! Awesome giveaway – Thanks!!
