It’s finally cold here in Charlotte, and we’re watching for a snowflake (or two). We’re spending the weekend cleaning out the garage and the upstairs playroom for some projects I’ll be sharing with you next week. Hope your weekend is just as exciting :)
I’ve always loved the look of vintage posters. They are a great way to add a little fun to any room. And, now they’re free! Free Vintage Posters is a new web site that houses a huge library of vintage posters in all categories. You can download any poster in a hi-res file and print them yourself (or take them to somewhere like Staples for a larger size).
If you currently have a “stick in a pot”, Keely offers step-by-step advice on how to revive your orchid.
Find the ugliest fabric around, and you could win your choice of a custom window treatment (in a really pretty fabric!) from Windows by Melissa. Check out the details of her first Ugly Fabric Challenge here. (We have a cat, but this chair completely freaks me out. . . )
I love finding new blogs and home tours I’ve never seen before. I came across this one from Farmhouse 38 this week. The exterior transformation is just the beginning. Check out the rest of the “before and afters” here.
I’m thinking of braving IKEA on a weekend for this chair. Do I dare? I must really like it. . .
Want to see why it takes me so long to finish a project around here? A simple task–like putting on bed skirts–can quickly turn into a circus, complete with a mattress slide trick. . . Aaaaahhhhh!
Happy Saturday!,
I have the Strandmon, it’s fabulous.
Oh good! I sat in it for a while the other day, and then realized it was out of stock :(
I was thinking of the same chair from Ikea for my living room, but going to ikea with an 11 month old while husband works is not in the cards for me..lol I havent gotten the courage just yet..
Happy Saturday

great list and lovin the real life shot!! so my world! have a great weekend!
Omg I love that chair!!! Not sure how the color would look in my house though…
Great Saturday 6! The mattress slide made me smile…..my kids use to jump onto the bed to get “made into it” if I tried to make the beds when they were around. Sweet!
The last picture looks like my life on a daily basis…Love:)
Happy Weekend
Love the mattress slide! Yes, brave IKEA — you’ll be glad you did and you can feed the kids while you’re there!

I am loving this series! Thanks so much for the resource of the vintage posters, that farmhouse is TO DIE FOR, and I think that chair is quite fantastic. I spent 4 1/2 hours in the Charlotte Ikea on Thursday… Figured if I was driving up, I’d make it worth my while! But I specifically breezed through the chairs because I have a serious chair weakness, and I’m pretty sure this chair would have been strapped to the top of my car if I’d seen it. :)
Love this series! I am so excited to look through those vintage posters…awesome find. And, yes, go to IKEA, or you will not be able to get that fabulous chair off your mind! (It’s a good thing we don’t have IKEA here, or I would have bought that chair…and I don’t even have anywhere to put it!)
Great list! As for the last photo, cherish it, they grow up so fast. I have one in college, one junior and one freshman. Sigh…..
Great new series and great job on having such happy, wonderful kiddos!
That playhouse scene looks familiar :) Love the vintage posters site!
I do like the nice chair, but your ugly cat chair is fabulous too! ;) Thanks for the shout out. I look forward to seeing what ugly fabrics people find :)

OMG… the Farmhouse38-girl, is hysterical!! Just spent time reading how she bathed her chicken, I’m dying!! TX for the intro :)
That farmhouse looks picture perfect! Loving all of these fun snippets you’re giving us!
I bought two of those IKEA chairs in the blue. I originally wanted the gray but it was out of stock. Turns out me being impatient and buying the blue was a lucky break, looks sooo good in my living room! Better than the gray would have looked since my couch is also gray. And they are very comfortable. We also bought the foot stools and that is what my (picky) husband and I sit in to watch TV. Go for it! Just make sure its in stock before you brave the store on a Saturday!
Ok, that “putting on new bedskirts” photo totally cracked me up. I’m sure it is crazy for you but it brings joy to my heart.
PS – My kids used to put on their snow suits and slide down our carpeted stairs.
Am I the only one that thinks that chair looks like it belongs to Archie Bunker? I love me some Ikea. but that one I’m not sure about… now with that said, it’s hard to imagine it in a room. It might be fabulous?
Archie Bunker would have wanted this in orange and green plaid, but it definitely has vintage stylings.
I’m too young to remember Archie Bunker. Ha! :)
Bragger! :)
I have the Strandmon too (sitting in it right now) and I love it so much!
Oh my gosh…thanks Emily. I just spent an hour looking at Farmhouse 38’s blog. Thanks for introducing!
You know you are a good mom when the antics of item #6 inspire you to first pull out your camera and second try to bring the chaos back into seeming order.
Also, I wonder if IKEA introduced the Strandmon to make up for the terrible–albeit almost certainly unintentional–trick they played when they released the 2013 catalog. If you recall, the cover features a very similar armchair that was actually a vintage piece no longer in production. I was so disappointed when I realized my mistake back then–wish I could afford the Strandmon now!
Is that a fort in the last shot? I love a good fort. I think I lived in one when I was a kid. Good times!
At least they aren’t sliding their little brother down the stairs on the mattress. Yep, my two older kids did that to my poor two year old a few years ago. Thank goodness we have a stair landing!
Thank you for the vintage poster site. I could not find the california poster you posted in your blog. Any help would be appreciated. Love your bog by the way.
That photo was sourced from the Better Homes & Gardens web site.
I love your blog, Emily. The Saturday 6 is so perfect thank you for the post. I spent a lot of time checking out the farmhouse renovation…just amazing what they have done with that house!
Have a great week!
Ha! Love the sixth photo!
The Strandmon is gorgeous – I always dream about getting one in my next place and making a patchwork cover for it!
Ok, so I have been following your blog for a bit now, which I really love BTW & that picture right at the end makes me feel so much better because that is so my life, too:). Have a great week, Jen
Hi Emily,
I wrote a couple of posts about gray wingback chairs. They seem to be everywhere! I’m obsessed! I also just found one at HomeGoods. I will be posting about it this week.;)
I love you, Emily. Really, I do.
Hi Emily! I’m a regular reader and I LOVE your blog. I think Saturday 6 is great and I was so struck by the before and afters from Farmhouse 38 that I had to check out their blog – and write a whole post about them! Check it out:
