Pretty & Neutral: A Master Bedroom Design Plan

February 15, 2013

I’ve been trying to clean out some of my design files since I’ve officially closed shop and came across a design plan for a master bedroom that never happened.  I thought I would pass along the plan and what sources I still had, in case any of you are looking for some neutral bedroom ideas.

This beautiful room by Candice Olson was the inspiration:

DesignPlan

1.  Suzanne Kasler Large Gourd Lamp in Gray Green—Ballard Designs

2. Damask fabric in Smoke—Duralee (21001)

3. Sunburst Mirror—Wisteria

4.  Grand Embroidered Duvet Set—Pottery Barn

5. Antique Egg Prints (locally sourced but similar to these)

6. Linen Settee—Wisteria

7. Bird fabric in Winter—Duralee (21003) & Trellis in Tobacco—Duralee (36041)

8. Moss in urn (Sorry, can’t remember!)

9. Cowhide, layered over Sisal Rug

This room was designed around a client’s matching set of dark bedroom furniture, but I think an upholstered headboard like this one would be really pretty (and similar to the inspiration room).

Alternate View

I also suggested a combination of simple roman shades and curtain panels on different sized windows in the same neutral damask fabric.  For the adjoining bathroom, I thought a roman shade with chocolate ribbon trim would be the perfect complement without being too matchy-matchy.  (I sourced them from here.)

By the way, I’ve had several readers ask me if I plan to start offering online design services again anytime soon, but I’ve decided not to for now.  The blog—and five sweet little people—are keeping me plenty busy and happy these days.

Have a great weekend.  Check back tomorrow for my Saturday 6 post.

Beautiful plan, Emily! I love using that Wisteria Sunburst mirror for clients. Maybe one day, I’ll find a spot in my home for it- I love it! I also remember that Candace Olsen episode with that beautiful bedroom! My mom and I were just talking about this- when will they bring back some new episodes of her show?? Hopefully soon!

This was my inspiration room for my monochromatic bedroom too! Except, I had a waaaaaaay smaller budget. :)
