Our Christmas mantel is so simple this year that I thought about not even blogging about it. But, sometimes, simple is good. And easy. Which is also good.
(Our kids insist on getting a live tree, too. It’ll go in the corner by the window where the chair is now. You can see a glimpse in the mirror of the artificial one that’s in the office.)
We have an outlet on our mantel so I wanted to use some lighted garland this year. I just used the fake stuff. I don’t mind it if you mix it with some other things. I used oversized pinecones that I found on a walk through the woods. Well, not really. I actually found them in a clearance bin at Pottery Barn last summer for less than a dollar each, but the walk in the woods sounds so much better. . . I also mixed in some big plastic snowflakes that I bought at the Dollar Tree a couple of years ago. (Wish I had bought more.)
One reason I’m keeping our mantel so simple is that it’s getting a little makeover in the next week or so. Tomorrow, I’ll post about what the UPS man is bringing to my house soon. . .
I love simple. And I am super jealous that you have an outlet on your mantel. Genius.
Good morning! Our Dollar Tree has those large snowflakes…I almost bought a bunch a few weeks ago. You may want to check your store again! The mantle is so pretty :)
Thanks, Lauren. I need to go back. They would be great hanging in front of a window…
Belmont Dollar Tree had some yesterday!!
Thank you! I’ll check next time I’m there.
This is lovely, Emily!
I really like the color in your family room. It’s beautiful!
Merry Christmas, my friend. I hope you all have a great time!

Simple is great AND gorgeous. I’m really glad you shared! We have a plug on our mantel and I feel so lucky. Too bad I don’t actually like our mantel! ;-)
Can’t wait to see whatever is coming with the UPS man. I predict a new mirror or picture!

Love the mantel. Sometimes simple is the best :) And I can’t wait to hear about the treats you are getting in the mail!!
Very pretty, Emily! The mirror looks great there too! xo Kristin
I went for simple this year too. It can be refreshing to keep it streamlined. And I’m jealous of that outlet on your mantel too.;) Got those same snowflakes too. With dollar store history, they may be there again this year.
simple and perfect emily! i love the lamp on your sofa table too!
giant pinecones are my favorite, i just posted my recent project using them, they are usually on our mantel but i changed it up this year.
I love this look, and yes, simple is good.
Happy holidays!

Love!! Where did you purchase your couch?? Looking into biting the bullet and getting a new one.
It was a Craigslist find, but the tag says Alexvale (a subsidiary of La-Z-Boy).
This is so pretty and inviting. May I ask what paint color you used in this room? It is such a great neutral, but has some character. Thank you! Merry Christmas :)
Sure, we used Sherwin Williams Amazing Gray.
Love it. So pretty!!

I love it! And, I appreciate that even as a designer, you still purchase things from the Dollar store, keep it simple, and do it all so beautifully! Thank you for constantly inspiring me!
