Our bedroom carpet was in perfect condition when we moved in last summer. A year later? Not so much. (Are my kids the only ones who feel the need to come into our room and make a grand announcement before they get sick in the middle of the night? I’ll let you figure out why we need a rug in there.)
Since we are determined to get the good out of this carpet and replacing it isn’t in the budget for now, I decided to use this natural rug that I had in storage. For Fall, I thought it would be cozier to layer it with my faux cowhide.
I also think it helps to tie in the black and white pillows.
Speaking of rugs, you can find my post on how to choose the right area rug for your room over on the “Getting Fresh with Oreck” blog today. I’m excited to be the interior design contributor for Oreck’s new blog and will be sharing design tips there each month.
Congratulations on your new gig! That’s a great fit. They are lucky to have you! It’s so fun to watch your success.

Congratulations!! That’s wonderful news and you are very deserving! Thanks for this post- it came at the perfect time, as I am suggesting layering rugs for a client who also has wall to wall carpet in her bedroom. This is a great example!
First let me say congratulations on your new gig! So exciting…. my grandmother always layered rugs I thought it to be a bit odd then but it works. It does make a room cozy :-)
As kids, my sister and I always went into our parents room before getting sick! My mom til this day still cannot understand why! LOL Love the faux cow hide rug!

Two weeks after we built a new house and moved in, my son came downstairs and said, “Mom, I threw up. But don’t worry, I got it on the carpet and not my comforter.”
You are an amazing mamma!
I actually came back to this post a couple of times today. Love the fresh look of the cowhide and your crisp bedding (with those pillows!). Very nice!
