Last weekend, I had to go to my local fabric store to pick up embroidery thread for some pillows I’m having made. Since that wasn’t very exciting, I also wandered up and down the fabric aisles and snapped some pictures of a few that caught my eye. . .
I love this bold ikat. It came in several colors and was just $12.98/yard. In fact, I have a sample of the yellow currently hanging in our kitchen that’s under serious consideration.
I thought this map fabric could be really cool covering a big bulletin board . . .
Or, used on a ready-made shade. . . (Like the ones I blogged about here.)
I also saw a couple of fabrics that could make great artwork. Like this architectural one:
And, these bright butterflies and bugs:
Fabric can become a big piece of inexpensive art if wrapped around a canvas like this:
I’m not in the market for any florals right now, but I really loved this one with the blooming peacock:
And, this orange and pink one:
More ikat. . .
And, some fun geometrics:
I also spotted some great outdoor fabrics. I’m already plotting new pillows for our patio next summer:
And, for those who are wondering, I went shopping for fabrics here. It’s not my absolute favorite place to go, but the prices lure me in. If you’re looking for some online sources for fabrics, Kate at Centsational Girl recently put together a great list here.
What about you? Any great fabric finds lately?
Great finds Emily. Thanks for sharing.
These fabrics are delicious!!! You know how to make a girl salivate. Great eye, and ideas, Em. Have a wonderful day!

Love your fabric picks. We shop at the same fabric store, and we have similar taste! I actually blogged about the coral-red fabric and the orange floral fabric last week as possibilities for my dining room. I am thinking of using the orange fabric on a stretcher frame to go above my buffet!

You found some really great stuff! I could fabric shop all day, every day.
Love the map fabric! My college-aged daughter mentioned that she would like a big pulldown map for her room – wonder if that fabric on a roller shade would suffice? I will have to ask her.

I figured that’s where you were. Hubby used to work near there and I’ve made the trip a few times. Beautiful fabric choices. Where do you find your great remnants? Again, you’re my favorite!
Went shopping yesterday for fabric, struck out. You found some great pieces. Hugs, Marty
Love the ikat and the map, good finds! You make me want to head to the fabric store but mine never seems to have such great stuff. Thanks for sharing your pretty finds. :)
For those who are interested, I had a pic on my phone of the map fabric tag. It’s made by Vilber and the name is “World A.”
We are fortunate to have several great fabric stores here in Atlanta – Lewis & Sheron and Forsyth. Might be time to go for a visit, I am in the hunt for a great accent fabric for my middle daughter’s room!
When I lived in Arkansas, we had a contemporary house with huge walls. My mom would buy Merimekko framed fabric and it looked great!

Do you happen to know the name or manufacturer of the teal and yellow ikat prints?
Yay for Mary Jo’s! I love that blue & white ikat, I made camera straps from it!
Love the yellow ikat. Do you have the manufacturer name?
Great finds. Love the outdoor prints, and that Bird, dynamite! I love the idea of framing the geometric!

What I wouldn’t give to be able to duck into Mary Jo’s! I saw that butterfly family of fabrics years ago and was recently trying to search for it again but couldn’t remember the name. Do you happen to know? All excellent selections! (And the yellow is fantastic!)
I am jealous as our fabric stores here are pathetic or overpriced! Loving all your finds!
i love the yellow ikat, too. would love to know the name.
what a fantastic place to shop!!
The Ikat is made by TNT Sales. Fabric name is Azzuro.
Well that’s just about my favorite thing in the world, fabric shopping! I love so many of those pics, they’re divine! Thanks for the shout out on the online sources!

I literally drive 45 minutes to shop for fabric in a poorly lit, non air conditioned basement because the prices and selection are the best. Seems like being a dump is kind of a trademark of the best fabric sources!
Stacy
PS – love your ideas as always!
Wow. All so beautiful! Hey Emily. Just wondering, when you wrap fabric around a canvas for artwork, is it best to staple the fabric on the canvas? Just wondering. Im new at all this DIY stuff. Thanks!!!
The map fabric! Omg! The fun I could have with that! I love looking at fabric! While it isn’t quite the Sam, and I said I’d never do it, I’m starting to shop at fabric.com. Are fabric stores going to go the way of book stores?
Thanks for the tour!,
Barbara
We don’t any fabric stores like that one. Love the map fabric. Thanks for sharing.
The fabric source from censational girl was super helpful. I’m always on the hunt for fabulous fabrics and keep them for reference for the future when we have our own place! All the fabrics you picked out looks so pretty! The outdoor fabrics….omgosh…gorgeous!
Not much makes me happier than a day in a fabric store!
@Carol Jane Here’s a good tutorial for covering a canvas w/ fabric: http://tidymom.net/2010/easy-fabric-covered-canvas-wall-art/
WOW. I am loving so many of those. I love the blue Ikat and that orange floral. We don’t have that source here {or not that I know of}.
Hey Emily! I’m from the Charlotte area too, and I go to Mary Jo’s for fabric. Do you have any other recommendations for fabric options in this area? I would love to know, since MJ’s can be kind of a drive for me! Thanks :)
I want that map roller shade for my daughter’s room!!
Those are some great and affordable finds! I could look at fabric all day–thanks for posting!
