Awwww, the power of Pinterest.
Some days, it can make anything seem possible. Like your creativity is endless. Like perfection is attainable. Like you might actually have a chance at winning Mom of the Year.
And, other days, you end up with a big mess. . . .
Sticky hands. . .
Disappointed kids and one crummy, little gummy worm.
Any Pinterest disasters you care to share?
I hear ya! I’m in the middle of turning an old suitcase into a jewelry case…inspiration, pinterest! I’m on step 2 of probably 10…will let you know how it turns out :) PS…how in the world do you have time to make gummy worms from scratch with infant twins?!!!
So true! Come by and enter my Lowe’s gift card giveaway! Then it will be “free money” you are wasting.
That is hilarious! Although with the original pin and the promise of gummy worms, I can see why you and your kids were inspired!
Have a great weekend-
Holly
Where to begin?! My Pinterest fails are usually recipes as well. At least we’re trying new things, right (and wasting lots of time)!
Bwah hah hah hah! Love it! Emily, you are always keepin’ it real!
There is a blogger out there, I think she’s called the Pintester…pretty funny, lots of Pinterest failures. Her language is salty, you’ve been warned.
I have one child and would have labeled myself ill-prepared and too short on patience to attempt this with him. You are amazing.
No distasters but I did recently post my lessons learned on Pinterest and how I use it for a variety of purposes. I love it!
Emily ~ You are too funny!
Have a wonderful weekend with the kids, and buy a package of good ‘ole Oreos. They always do the trick :)
xoxo
Too funny! At least you’re only out a box of jello, I’ve had some pricey flops I won’t be sharing because my husband reads my blog and…well you get it!!
I haven’t, but that’s probably because most of what I make from Pinterest is food. There have been a couple recipes that definitely weren’t worth the time to make or eat.
LOL! I have had a few pinterest disasters of my own! Sometimes they make it look soooo easy! thanks for the laugh. happy friday
Yes! Some pricey recipe flops ( nieman Marcus blonde bars, YUCK) I m a baker so it wasn’t user error. One cut polo shirt, don’t ask!?!? My family got a great laugh out of it so not a complete failure;0
Hah! I pinned this a couple of weeks ago, and a friend quickly left a comment along the lines of, “Nope. I don’t buy it. That won’t work!” I’m glad I didn’t go through the trouble to prove her wrong.
My failure was the glow in the dark mountain dew, which was one of the activities for my son’s 8 year old camp party. Good thing we tested that out before party time!
I love this, I’m glad to see I’m not the only one. I do a thing on my blog called “Pinned and Tried.” The last one didn’t work! Which you can check out here: http://www.rebeccasroundup.blogspot.com/2012/07/pinned-tried-home-fragrance-oil-applied.html
haha too funny! It’s true, Pinterest is deceivingly inspiring :)
bahahaha So funny. That looks like the outcome I would have too!
Emily, Oh no! I hope the process of trying to create them was still a little fun though!
p.s. You ARE mom of the year! 5 babies, awesome designed house and gorgeous! I am sure one day they will tell you so!

Well that just about sums up half of my recipes found through pinterest attempts. Thanks for sharing!
So true! There have been a few great hits and some misses on pinterest. I have to say making those gummy worms looks hard. Hope you are doing well. :)
hahahahaha! this is so funny. I tried making the candy corn pillow case dresses for my 7 and 5 yr olds last Halloween as my first sewing project without a pattern. I almost accomplished it but realized I cut the dress too small for my oldest. I’m getting better at sewing though and probably could actually make them this year. Happy worm making!
I can’t believe you tried to make gummy worms with 5 kids around! You deserve an award just for that! I have happily pinned away but have yet to try anything….now I am nervous to! At least you got a laugh out of this? No?
I so relate! Tried to make those donuts out of Pillsbury biscuits last night. L’awd! They cooked too quick on the outside and were still doughy and raw on the inside. Pinfail :-).
Good one!
Yes, two cakes, both claiming to be the best thing since sliced bread. You know the one where there are no eggs or oil, just a can of sprite. Yikes it is so sweet it was not even edible. One was a berry cobbler, darn I wasted all those good berries and the other was an angel food cake.Waaaaay to sweet!! Had to try it! Love and learn. I saw the gummy worms and I thought it looked like it would be a mess and boy oh boy it sure was, sorry for your mess, but you still get the Mom of the year award for doing this with 3 kiddos and two infants. If I had a trophy I would send it to you. xo

Emily, I’m on a radio station in Atlanta & one of the other DJs posted this Pinterest project on our fb fan page (1047TheFish) last week. So I just posted your blog post on there so women can be encouraged that it’s okay if things don’t turn out perfectly! Thanks for sharing! <3 Heidi Rew from PartiesforPennies.com
This is so funny! Today I tried to make homemade doughnuts and my 8 year old said it was an “epic fail.” Nothing like spending 2 hours making something that has to go straight in the trash. The good news…hubby will swing by Krispy Kreme on the way home. :)
Hahaha, well you are way better then me, I pin and pin, even have a board with cool diys, but have I done any of them yet…..ummmm no! So that last image applies to me. and now I am stopping myself from pinning that giant gummie worm.

I agree with the other commenter that a mom of 5 deserves a medal just for attempting this! I’ve experienced a few Pinterest disasters myself. There is now a blog where people can chronicles theirs…I had a good laugh at some! http://pinstrosity.blogspot.com/
Not a cooking failure, but still pretty funny. We went to one of these mobile childrens reptile parties last weekend and the python peed all over me and the birthday child.
At least the kids thought it was funny!
Bummer! I despise trying something that someone has hyped as “so simple” and then it being a disaster: it seriously hits my ego. On the other hand, it’s a good reminder to be humble and realize we each have our unique talents (whatever mine is, I can assure you it’s NOT making French-style pastries).
The gummies are easier to make if you pour gummy mixture onto a lined cookie sheet, let it cool, and then cut it with a knife into strips. Sadly, they’re not exactly gummy “worms” so much as gummy “fries.” I used to make them in high school for kids I babysat. It sure was better than watching hours of Toy Story (on repeat!)…
YOU ARE MOM OF THE YEAR!
Have a great weekend.

Oh this was so funny! And so true! I tried to make sea salt caramels via Pinterest and they came out terrible…! Have you seen the blog the Pinterest Project? Two moms who try out all different recipes and DIY projects, sometimes with disastrous results. A fun read!
I admire your courage!
Oh no! I saw those worms, too, and I was wondering how “easy” it would be to get them out of the straws! Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Even when it comes to gummy worms : )
